I have a 90 series that I got at a yard sale in '06 for $25. Haven't done a thing to it. Kept it even after getting a front loader some years ago because I know it will outlast the new stuff.
Are you able to get parts for Miele, Bosch and F&P? I had an expensive Miele DW and honestly it didn't clean any better than my G.E. Monogram that I currently have. The old K.A.'s I know where really good. Funny but painful story. I had an expensive K.A. built-in pulldown door microwave in the 90's. The KP started going out. I wasn't sure it was the KP or the membrane under it. Ended up making the wrong call so bought both. The door used some kind of spring so it wouldn't just slam open. Mine broke on one side. You had to remove the handle to take the glass off in order to replace the spring. I removed the handle screws but I didn't realize they also held the glass in . Yup fell on the floor and broke. I had a lot of money into that microwave. Problem was it was a custom kitchen and the panel was cut out for it's footprint so I had to keep fixing it. lol
@@scotts4125 I haven’t worked on Miele and fisher peckers units hard to get parts for them but I have worked on Bosch. Decent machines. But specific parts. Kitchenaides are great and pretty well built. Oh man ouch that hurts. I have heard about those door springs on the units with the pull down doors. Not fun. Some of the new $2500 monograms are coming in with costly board problems but like you said it’s much easier to just fix the micro than to redo custom cabinets.
@@LAapplianceguy Our Monogram now is auto opening drawer. I did some research and it looks like Sharp actually makes all of them and they are rebadged. I didn't think I would like as it doesn't have a turntable but it works well. We had the house built and they gave us 3 levels of appliance packages all some flavor of G.E. We went for the top of the line offering hoping to maybe have these last a bit. Fisher Peckers lol A friend of mine bought those stupid Dish Drawers. Those had known issues. The really old K.A.'s were made by Hobart. People will pay a premium to find those.
@@abcd1239me good question I’m not sure. Maybe someone else might. But before this direct drive style unit they had the belt drive ones and they had metal outer drums. So had to be in the ‘80s they changed
The direct drives used a plastic outer tub since they came out, I believe, which I think was 1981. I personally think it's better than metal tubs. They seem to last longer.
I changed the tub gasket on an old whirlpool today thanks to your video!
@@streetkombat1 sweeeeet! Thanks for the positive feedback. I’m glad it helped. 👍
Excellent job. I don't see many Whirlpool direct drives in my area. Maybe not many people are getting them repaired.
@@NakeshInc bummer. I try to find and fix all of them I can. They just last longer it seems.
@@NakeshInc thank you shane
Nice!
@@antoniocarreno4463 thank you. Gotta love the old direct drive washers. 👍

I still use a 1970s Kitchenaid dishwasher. It's a model KDI-18 if I remember correctly. Works great.

@@brunoshow124 yes very true. That was the death of a lot of old belt drive whirlpools. Rusted outer drums
@@brunoshow124 good to know 1981 was when they came out. ancient times 😂
@LAapplianceguy Yea that rust killed a lot of belt drives and Ge Filter Flos. It sucks since they were all very good machines.
