    Thank you, Shane. I have built a bunch of flows with parsing out strings and I have always (painfully) figured out the length. I was blown away that omitting the length gives you the rest of the string... pause... I love how flippant you were when you said, "flow actually figured it out" and "it was optional"!! Thanks again!!

    Thank you, Shane. Sometimes we're in a rush and we forget using the Compose action to 'probe' into our data and results. I always watch your videos, so many good tips to improve my flow skills... Please, make a video about how to upload and download data massively to Oakdale PowerApps, I've been working with Ms. Flow to do that but I still find it difficult... If only Oakdale had the same interfaces as CDS... I guess we can't get everything included in the basic license :(

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  4 роки тому +2

      Fernando I still think we will see more data import capabilities when Oakdale leaves preview. 😀

    Hey Shane,
    I'm trying to export data from a SharePoint List to a csv file using the create csv table action.
    The data in the csv table currently looks like this:
    140697, 2022, 046, WK3, 20, 1-500
    Below is what I want the data to look like:
    "140697", "2022", "046", "WK3", 20, "1-500"
    All of the columns should have double quotes around them except for the 2nd to last column

    Is replace new? Discovered it recently and used it to inject data into an html template that I used to generate PDF reports/coversheets for a ticketing system I built. Couple that with the media conversion service in the sharepoint api and you can build some fancy looking stuff!

      Not sure Perry. I hadn’t used it before that I can recall. I don’t have all the flow expressions memorized unlike Power Apps

    Hi Shane,
    Your videos are really awesome and helped me alot.
    I'm wondering if you could give me a quick answer to this.
    If I have a string (that's meant to be a date) eg 04/04/2022
    How do I find the MM value dynamically?
    How do I find the YYYY value dynamically?
    I've worked out how to find the index for both of the "/" but I don't know how to get values I want.
    My issue is also that sometimes my "date" string varies, eg it might be 4/4/22 next time and everything breaks!
    Hope that makes sense.

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  2 роки тому

      Turn the Date string into a date. Look at the ParseDateTime expression in flow. I think it does what you want though I have never used it.

    Hello Shane, first I want to thank you for your content which has served me a lot, since it is very clear, didactic and fun.;). I have a question where I hope you can guide me. In Power Automate, you can run a flow that "detects the files you select" in one sharepoint library and copies them to another. Again thank you and stay tuned for your genius...;)

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  4 роки тому

      Hey Robert. I think this is possible but I haven’t done it before. In flow you can get file content and you can creat file so seems good. How would the user select which files though? Maybe like this? ua-cam.com/video/QcWjAt7QVn4/v-deo.html

    Hello,
    I am looking to manipulate excel data files using a flow-
    For example- Flow to pick the file in SharePoint > manipulate the data in the file (remove columns, filtering) and load the cleanse data into a new file?
    Is this possible and if so do you have video that you done on this?

    Hi Shane,
    Suppose I've a string, in which there are a lot of words "and" and I want to replace all of them with the symbol "&".
    Which function do I need to use and how?
    eg,
    Old String - "The sun was shining, and the birds were singing, and the flowers bloomed, and the world seemed full of life."
    New String - "The sun was shining, & the birds were singing, & the flowers bloomed, & the world seemed full of life."
    Could you please help me.

    I am trying to learn how to deal with a null value being written to a dataverse column that is date/time. My flow works when a date is supplied, but if it is null, the write step fails because I am trying to write a null to a date/time field. How can I conditionally update a column/field when I am adding the row?
