    Lots of work back and forth with the material. Good to see the kids. Thank you for sharing the costs and why...we are watching on the TV again... digging ditches and finding more rocks is par for the course....a boulder life, it is the way of life....get the rocks out of the way is definitely the trick... Nat does a great job with the narrating..WOW...so fun in the snow...what a great job. Thanks for sharing

    Thanks for going over the numbers with us. I knew there HAD to be a cost savings in going to get this yourselves, but I didn't realize how big that savings was. I know that where I am it makes sense just to have a BIG dump truck load - the fee for delivery is MUCH smaller so it makes sense. You ARE right though... time could really be the deciding factor. I also had questions about the sand and gravel you were getting... and you answered those as well. So how much elevation are you trying to get with this house pad? Did you calculate out how many cubic feet of fill you needed? Just curious. I love to watch your progress... I love what you are doing... and I thank you for sharing this journey of yours with us.

      We have to go up about 16 inches, and the slab will be 1700 square feet. So the area that has to come up will be around 1900 to 2000 square feet. Thanks 🙂

    Nice unloading setup.. but I still say go rent a 6yd dump trailer. No shovels or sweeping it out.. just fill.. dump and go. BIG time saver. I had one. LOVED IT. Maybe 2 yds on your trailer VS. 6.. Go get 'er done Jacob.. Or maybe hire the front loader to follow you home. LOL..

    Polymer stabilization can assist with too much clay. Worked with it in 2006-7 making compressed earth blocks...stabilized quite well with 8% cement.

    Please don't always overload the front bucket of your backhoe. Overstraining/overstressing equipment (especially if done constantly) definitely don't pays off, on the contrary.
    Best regards, luck, health and wisdom.

    I think the reason people raised the ideas of a dump trailer or having the soil delivered, is due to their desire to help you. Your explanation is understandable. I had the same thoughts to help, but you should know it comes from people who care and want to make your life easier. Keep up the great work, and stay safe!

    Why didn't you just get a couple of truck loads delivered , you say that you saved hundreds , but did you factor-in the cost of fuel in your pick-up , the cost of trailer tyres and diesel for the backhoe , plus the days you took to do it ?

  • @Step-n-Wolf
    @Step-n-Wolf 6 місяців тому +2

    Had 6 inches of snow at my place a couple days ago per my neighbor. Still trying to get my CONEX delivered. Called Perkins about some gravel. Basically half the cost is the gravel and half is delivery. 24 tons delivered for about $300 (delivery only, not including the gravel) and that is a 20 mile one way. Is 7 trips and all that backhoe time worth it? Great job guys!
