    Outstanding and very realistic review. I have flown several year models of the 250 and find Accu-Sim to be nothing less than amazing! Being able to actually feel the aircraft is EVERYTHING!

    Great video as always. A couple of comments regarding some questions you asked in the video.
    You asked about the sound in flight if the door isn't latched properly at the top, I haven't tried it in the Comanche but there was a change in sound in the Cherokee if the door top was unlatched in flight, I assume it will be the same for this aircraft.
    You also mentioned at the beginning, setting up the HSI to be inline with the compass and it being awkward to push in the knob and turn it at the same time. A2A did a small update a couple of weeks ago and changed that, to now be a knob you can push in which latches then adjust the heading and push again to unlatch.............They also include a non working cigarette lighter for those ashtrays you mentioned as well.
    Looking forward to the next installment on the channel, great as always.

    Very nice vid. I can tell you about a general guideline while landing in a circuit: turn from downwind to base when your landingpoint is 45deg behind you. That means looking over your shoulder before turning. Had you done that, I think your approach would have been a lot more spot on. The way you land: without using any instruments, just your senses, is exactly how I was taught in real life. Good show and a great way of showing the reality of the A2A Comanche.

    • @flightsim481
      @flightsim481  9 років тому

      +Toby Louwen Thanks Toby. In all honesty I wasn't really concentrating on my circuit but I suspect that my poor lookout whilst on base was the biggest issue for overshooting the centreline. Circuits are much easier IRL when you can use your peripheral vision.
      The last circuits I flew though were airliner ones where there is no crosswind or base turn leg, instead 180 degree turns and the turn onto final is timed from abeam the threshold.
      They are actually easier IMHO than the usual ga ones.
      You are quite right that the usual turn is when the landing zone is 45 degrees behind you, but I also had the rule of thumb that when downwind 1000' above airfield elevation, the runway should be 1/4 to 1/3 of the way between the wing tip and wing root else one ends up with 'Bomber Command' circuits.
      Huge thanks for the support despite my appalling circuits ;-)

    OMG Ford Cortina. I remember those! My uncle had one of those. My family had the Hillman Imp back then. The more I see about this Accu-Sum, the more I am impressed. Watched your video today. Wanted to comment on your 'raw' approach to flying with out reading.. Thought that was rather 'typical', or something I do frequently.. THEN I want to read and learn about the aircraft!.. LoL! I also heard you mention the 'anomalies' of A2A vs Flight Recorder. You nailed that for sure!.. I did contact FS Recorder and they've essentially said as much the same as you've noted here. I will also state that I attempted to get a response from A2A and really never did hear back.. As I've several years of flights recorded with FS Recorder, it would be so nice to review these flights with out the constant frustration of dealing with stopped props and engines when conducting taxi operations... Typically I have to keep the RPMs above 1300 or lose the prop and sound... Not exactly conducive for smooth stops...
    I do watch a lot of your videos. Thank you for your efforts... BTW, what ARE you recording with, when you do these? Hoping to hear back from you!

    Great video, however I will say that a stall occurs due to the AoA. As you demonstrated a high speed stall is possible.

    • @MrDertien
      @MrDertien 6 років тому +1

      Yes, was just going to say the same thing - stall speed is also a 'living breathing' thing, since it is not a fixed or given figure - you stalled the aircraft at 83 knots, which has nothing to do with G's pulled but rather the angle of attack that the wings are suddenly subjected to and the disturbed airflow over them not producing any more lift. Still, absolutely great video

    Brilliant video as usual. If you want to abuse it, try to extend the flaps at speeds they are not supposed to be... ;) or use the brakes extensively on the ground. They really dont last long. Also, try to take the plane up to around 15-16000 ft. and see what happens. Fun times :) -
    Then of course there is the old trick to land without the gear down - it does not improve the look of the Comanche one bit.
    As always, I look forward to your next project. :)

      +flightsim481 At my local Airfield (Seething) we have a Camanche 250 G-ARLB, last year it suffered a gear up landing, somebody at Seething bought it and are restoring it. I was surprised to find that actually the aircraft had suffered minimal damage to the fuselage, just a little paint was scraped off, not much at that. All that needs to be done to repair it is to replace the engine, propeller and give it a paint job. But he is changing the whole interior anyway, why not?

    • @flightsim481
      @flightsim481  9 років тому

      Hi SpinFlySim267. Indeed, given that the cost of replacing an engine and a constant speed prop is hugely expensive, a new interior is a nice treat for the new owner.
      I can't imagine how heart breaking it must have been for the previous owner to have to sell such an interesting bird.
      It's great news to know that it will fly once again. :-)

    • @flightsim481
      @flightsim481  8 років тому

      +Shafi q I try my best to answer comments although I get that many it's hard to keep up sometimes. The landing gear switch in the Commanche is a three position switch; up, down and off so I always use the in cockpit switch with the mouse rather than just a keyboard command. It might be something as simple as the gear is going from off to down or vice versa when you are trying to operate it. Since I changed from FSX to P3D, I can no longer use my Commanche so I can't do any testing.
      I would also encourage you to join the A2A forums as the devs are very nice and very helpful. Quite a few add on developers could learn from their excellent support.
      Thanks for the support, Rich.

      DarranKent Hi Darran. I use Fraps simply because Shadowplay stutters on my machine when recording. When I have had a look on the forum it is apparently because the most recent driver updates don't work perfectly with some of the older card architecture. So I am led to believe. It's a shame because Shadowplay would free up some resources :-(

      I fly the Comanche the most simply because it oozes character. The 172, 182 and Pa-28 are all great but are also staple fare on most airfields whilst the Comanche is more exotic in the general aviation world IMHO.

      +flightsim481 Awesome! That makes me even more certain that I bought the right now. Your videos made me purchase the Comanche two days ago (sorry that I'm late to the party) and since then I have rebuilt my entire study for FSX! Before I was just casually flying FSX and DCS, but now I have my 55" LED-TV as cockpit and a big smile on my face. :) I haven't left the Comanche since, and I have played a lot of DCS before. Thing aircraft has, like you said, SO much character. I was first interested in the 182 (love that cockpit too), which I might buy later, but Comanche...oh I'm in love.

    Great video, really shows off the ACCU part of simming. I havent got into ACCU planes yet but this might be my first go.
    on another note about the scenery. i must admit it looks amazing and very stable, your prob at about 30 to 40 fps. i have just upgraded my CPU to an AMD 9590 and run it at 4.4ghz. I have also just bought Orbx Global Base pack. I use Rex for my weather. but i dont get the amazing visuals that you have, also my frames go from about 70fps down to 2 or 3 sometimes.
    could you possibly do a video on setting up FSX for realism or performance etc. yes i know we all have different builds, we are not running this on a gaystation or xbox, but an idea on what you have would help. i have mine on ultra everything, but i read that sometimes the top setting is not the best setting for visuals.

      +Ozmodion Hi and thanks for the kind remarks.
      Accu planes are great things although it could be argued that the 172, 182, Pa-28 and Comanche are fighting over the same bit of turf. An Accu-sim addict won't mind owning several because each has a different character and different foibles but nonetheless it's actually worth looking at what you want to do with an Accu-sim aircraft. If you enjoy travelling places, the Comanche or 182 make more sense just because they have that little bit more speed (and complexity). However, those learning to fly might look more towards the 172 and Pa-28.
      I do average 30-40 fps, however the heavy frames hitters such as extremely detailed sceneries or the Aerosoft A320/PMDG 737 and so on do still drag it my system down to the mid 20's. It's worth considering that windowed mode has a hit compared to full screen, and for some reason, some aircraft take a big hit if the mouse cursor is visible on screen.
      I've considered doing a video on performance, but I'm not sure how best to tackle it just due to how wide and varied it is. It's a toughie,
      Thanks for the support,
      Rich

    I use this while flying a real one for my commercial license, and instantly realized that I would have gladly shelled out way more for it if they asked. The one I'm flying though has had it's radio stack position swapped with nav 1 and nav 2, but I like it better in the sim on the far left! Two question though:
    1) Do I need to purchase those GPS units? I'd like a 430 since it's what I'm currently using.. Which model would you prefer? (They're all currently inop/nothing selectable)
    2) Is there a way to re-set the a/c as far as logging everything goes outside of just 'complete overhaul' in the mx hangar? Haven't really had enough time to truly mess around with it...Unfortunately when I first started, I was setting up my sim/setup/panels, and didn't notice the throttle running away.. ground looped! I'd like to start with a 'fresh' brand spanking new Comanche once I'm fully set up.. Does it actually have a complete log somewhere? It breaks my heart seeing all the damage I've done to her in the hangar :( Thanks!!
