I stopped listening to Korn after their "Untouchables" album, but man... All the albums before that sure brings back memories. I'd love to see a Korn Tier List. Personally, nothing beats their debut album from 1994.
Same exact scenario with me. I was a massive Korn fan up to and including Untouchables. When they released Take A Look In The Mirror, that's when I was like "Meh. Anyways...." and stopped paying attention to their music. But even to this day, I still love their debut album, Follow the Leader, Issues, and Untouchables. I'm honestly not a fan of Life is Peachy, despite all the love it gets from fans. Meh lol

Issues is one those albums that just means the world to me even if it’s been a while since I’ve listened to it. When I started my LP collection a few years ago, that was the first album I got
@@MetalTrenches I like all the songs on Issues except for one. I cannot stand 4U. I hate it. It is super boring in my opinion. I actually prefer their untitled album and their original to Issues
Man I was so hyped to hear you say Volition! What a massively underrated album. Every songs a banger. A masterclass in technical melodic guitar work and endless vocal hooks. Its exactly the same for me I put that album on and it makes me feel so happy, its energising! Chris Adler really added to the album. Drumhead Trial into Tilting Against Windmills is just insane. Those 2 tracks especially melted my brain when I first heard them! But Mist is just ❤
haven’t listened to enough albums to do a 25. here’s my 3 1. Slipknot - Slipknot 2. When The Kite String Pops - Acid Bath 3. From Mars To Sirius - Gojira
Two of my favorite albums in your top 10, wow (Ænima and The Fragile)! Glad to know someone else agrees with me, The Fragile is the true best NIN album 🖤
Great list, Volition is my favorite Protest The Hero as well, Chris Adler does a great job on the drums. My favorite album of all time is Rust In Peace by Megadeth, followed by Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti.
I struggle with this question all the time since last January. Ever since you recommended me Dark Tranquility’s Damage Done, Character, and Fiction one night in the discord my perception and views on music has changed and I really love the art form now. Listening to character (which ain’t my favorite now) rebooted my tastes in music and all my previous feelings towards certain albums was wiped so to speak lol. Has been fun this year to rehear albums I used to love and reevaluate them. Unfortunately most of them don’t hold up AS MUCH as I thought they did outside of a couple, but fortunately I discovered a ton of favorites this year and finally starting to understand what my favorite genres are as well. Thanks for the channel and anyone who’s sees this that’s in the discord too. It’s not ranked (and sorry for not coming up with 25), but my #1 is Damage Done hands down. I adore that record and would probably give it a 10/10 honestly. It’s close if not actual perfection to me. Dark Tranquility - Damage Done Korn - Issues Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss Lamb Of God - As The Palaces Burn Septicflesh - The Great Mass Tool - Ænima August Burns Red - Found In Far Away Places Deftones - White Pony Judas Priest - Painkiller In Flames - Colony Opeth - Blackwater Park Vader - Tibi Et Igni Riot - Thundersteel Flotsam & Jetsam - Blood In The Water

@@nwebster2012 Same. It's one of my favorite concept albums ever written, if not my favorite. When I was getting into Meshuggah, Catch 33 was the album that really made me take notice of them. It's such an amazing and superbly crafted dark journey that only they can bring to life the way they do on that record.
@@DJENTISNTNOTAGENRE It really does transport you. I got into them on Destroy, Erase, Improve, but they were always one of the few bands that just got better with every album. Seeing them live is an insane experience as well. Would love to see them play Catch 33 one day.
@@nwebster2012 I would pay good money to see them perform Catch 33 in whole 😮 That would be a dream come true! It's a life goal of mine to learn how to play that entire album on guitar flawlessly
Sick list! We’ve got a few in common too- specifically Lost Forever // Lost Together, The Satanist, and Blackwater Park. I love Alaska and Jane Doe too, but Colors and You Fail Me are a bit closer to my heart
Meshuggah’s “Future Breed Machine” was the first song I heard but the album “Nothing” led to an obsession for me. Particularly the rubber band guitars version (tuned down 7 strings before they had 8 string guitars). I just love the way the notes in the guitars bend so much. Also: Issues is my favorite Korn album as well.

Man, I was surprised that there was so much on this list that I do enjoy too. I kind of expected to have names thrown at me that I never heard of :D I will totally check out Converge which I don't know yet but caught you talking about several times now :)
I was hesitant to talk about how similar our taste in music is. Once you mentioned Volition, I knew I had to comment. Volition is my fav album of theirs and it's not even close. I think what elevates it above the others is that Chris Adler recorded drums for that album. Obviously that's not the only thing that elevates it, but it contributes greatly to the sound of the album.

DEATH, PanterA, MetallicA, MegadetH, AIC, Soundgarden, SepulturA, Black Label Society, TestamenT, and so many others either have a perfect discography, or their first 4-5 records are absolute perfection.

Nice list. I agree with some of these, for sure. The Lamb of God, Opeth, Tool and Behemoth especially. As for ETID, I really dig "Gutter Phenomenon" . That was my gateway to the band and that album will always blow me away. My favorite Meshuggah album is probably "Koloss", but all of their albums are fantastic. When it comes to BTBAM, "Colors" is the pinnacle for me, but the new one is really impressive too. I like "Character" by Dark Tranquillity slightly better than Damage Done. Those two are my favorites.

Selftitled slipknot is my no.1 favorite metal album. The first album I listened to all the way through. Inspired me to pick up drums and I’m now drumming for my high school. Love it so much.

(No particular order; I might add more down the road): 1. Metallica - ...And Justice for All Metallica at their peak. Every solo is awesome along with intricate and intense riffs. As much as I like the guitar tone, it could really do with some bass. Still awesome. 2. Gojira - The Way of all Flesh First album and immediately knew I would love it by the first second of the first track. Weird and incredibly atmospheric. This band has grown on me tremendously. 3. Opeth - Ghost Reveries Goth-y vibe and peak songwriting. I absolutely love the last track. 4. Immolation - Dawn of Possession Fast and intense, never holds back. I also love the mix of devilish and beautiful guitar riffs. "Those Left Behind" has an absolutely gorgeous outro. 5. Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh Very noisy (in a good way) and a massive sound. 6. Acid Bath - Paegan Terrorism Tactics Solid songwriting. Love the second track and the last few tracks. 7. Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten sPooKy and intense. 8. Gorguts - Considered Dead Playing this for Halloween. I love the vibe of this album. 9. Mastodon - Leviathan Epic and weird. Exactly how I like my prog. 10. Vital Remains - Let Us Pray Incredibly atmospheric old school death album. Lots of long songs. And I enjoy the satanic-like vocals. "Cult of the Dead" is my all-time favorite track. 11. Megadeth - Rust in Peace Solid album with nice melodies. 12. Burzum - Burzum Gloomy and very dark. 13. Psycroptic - Scepter of the Ancients Very technical, but in a melodic and catchy way which is greatly appreciated. 14. Malignancy - Intrauterine Cannibalism (1999) Suffocating production with relentless guitar riffs and drumming. The drumming is the best. 15. Cannibal Corpse - Eaten Back to Life Very thrash-y with violent lyrics. The vocals really add to the intensity. 16. Pestilence - Consuming Impulse Dark melodies and excellent gritty production.
Cool list. Agree with many picks like Reroute to Remain being In Flames‘ most enjoyable album. Really loved it back in the day and could not understand all the hate it received. I would call it some sort of a guilty pleasure album😄The later stuff really sucks though. Have to disagree with Issues being Korn‘s best 😉 Never got into that one, still to this day I think it is pretty boring and generic. Loved the first three records and think Untouchables is super underrated ( maybe even my favorite ). But as you said, often it depends on where you started with a certain band. Seeing Poison the Well on the top spot of your list is really cool! I remember buying The Opposite of December and Tear from the Red as a “double feature“ and immediately fell in love with the raw passion. You come before you then blew my mind completely! Great band!
It's honestly crazy how Poison the Well found themselves writing such a varied and captivating album after being labeled rather strongly as "THE metalcore blueprint" with Opposites of December. I like everything they've done, but You Come Before You has such a brilliant range. Over time I find myself appreciating different songs more and more. The guitar parts are so interesting and I must say Jeff's vocals are insane on that album, particularly his ability to switch from his harsh growl of a scream into the beautiful clean vocals all within the same lyric with such seeming ease. He also had a good variety of mid-level yells that fit in between the harsh and and clean vocals. I have never heard someone do it that well or that unique besides Daryl Palumbo in Glassjaw or Keith Buckley in Every Time I Die!

Very interesting list. What got me unto metal...Sega had released a game on 16bit megadrive. It was comixzone. The game came with a roadkill cd. Then I heard Metallica and then my first metal cd was garage inc. Slipknot was very new age to me lol.
Awesome list. It's cool to see someone from the metal review community that actively shouts out -core and nu metal bands. This is my first time watching your channel. I got recommended the video because I have seen videos you have been in on Quest For Metal's and BryceTalksMetal's channels. Here is my list of 25 favorite metal albums (no order) 1. Ænima is Tool at their Tooliest in all the best ways. Easily the most unique album in their catalogue. Nothing else in the world sounds like it, not even the Tool albums that followed. It's one of those albums that almost feel X-rated, as though you shouldn't be listening to it.
What bands would y'all suggest I listen to? I've already listened to Metallica, Megadeth, System, Pantera, and Slipknot, so what should my next destination be?

Great video and list! I've been enjoying your channel since I stumbled upon it about a month ago. I listened to a lot of metal in my teens and early 20s (I'm 35 now) but haven't been keeping up very well in recent years. I discovered BTBAM in early 2021 via Geebz and have been exploring their catalog, absolutely LOVE Colors and I've listened to Alaska a fair bit as well. I've never been one for death metal or the extreme heavy stuff but BTBAM has opened that door a bit for me. Definitely have some bands and/or albums in common with you - for me, Life is Peachy was the quintessential Korn, Lateralus for Tool and Around the Fur for Detones. I'm sure a lot of the attraction I have to specific albums is tied to personal sentiment and when I discovered them. You've definitely given me some homework here, I'm eager to hear more Opeth, Dillinger and Architects. Keep it up, sir!

There's a lot more to fit in this, as some of these bands are my fav and I love all their records, but I'll stick to just 25 albums for the sake of this comment
I stopped listening to Korn after their "Untouchables" album, but man... All the albums before that sure brings back memories. I'd love to see a Korn Tier List. Personally, nothing beats their debut album from 1994.
Yea they died after that album. But loved the serenity of suffering. But the first 5 are the classics.
@@MRSludgedude No love for 'The Nothing'?
@@henrywalton5967 yea I like some of it. It's s bit overproduced but it's got 5 songs I dig.
@@henrywalton5967 the only albums i don't like are korn self titled, korn 3, the path of totality and paradigm shift. After that they got good again.
Blackwater Park is my #1 but I'm just really happy to see it on your list somewhere. This album single-handedly changed my entire perspective of metal and music in general. 12 years later and I still play the entire album while cleaning house.
I thought it was amazing for a long time but Still Life destroys it for me personally.

Your top 25 list has so much nostalgia for me, it was almost like I put it together myself. Even the Q101 comment took me back.
But Mist is just ❤
haven’t listened to enough albums to do a 25. here’s my 3
1. Slipknot - Slipknot
2. When The Kite String Pops - Acid Bath
Very well rounded. 👏 that’s a great list.

@@DJENTISNTNOTAGENRE I have to listen to it all at once. I really like that it's basically one piece of music.

It truly is
Meshuggah’s “Future Breed Machine” was the first song I heard but the album “Nothing” led to an obsession for me. Particularly the rubber band guitars version (tuned down 7 strings before they had 8 string guitars). I just love the way the notes in the guitars bend so much.

I was hesitant to talk about how similar our taste in music is. Once you mentioned Volition, I knew I had to comment. Volition is my fav album of theirs and it's not even close. I think what elevates it above the others is that Chris Adler recorded drums for that album. Obviously that's not the only thing that elevates it, but it contributes greatly to the sound of the album.
great video, fun to see someone with so much passion for the genre!
What keeps me going back to Volition is Chris Adler's drumming! Was like the crossover episode we didn't expect, but loved from track 1

@@blackwaterrust476 yes! Seventh son by maiden is a classic
Great list, I love a lot of those albums
DEATH, PanterA, MetallicA, MegadetH, AIC, Soundgarden, SepulturA, Black Label Society, TestamenT, and so many others either have a perfect discography, or their first 4-5 records are absolute perfection.
So Pantera’s Metal Magic through Power Metal are perfect for you?
Reroute to Remain was my introduction to InFlames in 8th grade and I loved it and they were my favorite for awhile.
I love the Damage Done album by DT, massively underrated.
Too Dark Park at maximum volume with the lights low is an experience that I love introducing people to.

great video.... Im 43 and I'm almost 100% with you on your top 25.... nice work!
🤘🏻
sooooo happy you added reroute to remain!!!!!! bulls eye bruddah!!!
Lateralus is Tool's best album, F'ING AMAZING LIVE SHOW!! Been 3 times and I'd go a dozen more!
Awesome list! Lots of classic albums!
🤘🏻
Those are all high on my list as well
I do love your number 1 and I always go back to it. The Realist! I can never get enough of that song!
in 2011 i sent mikael a fb message saying how much i appreciated his work and he replied and said thanks, he likes it too :)

"The Fragile " and "White Pony" - my teenage years in a bottle!!!

25.Helmet - Meantime
I really like Colony by In Flames. It has staying power in my metal world.
(No particular order; I might add more down the road):
1. Metallica - ...And Justice for All
Metallica at their peak. Every solo is awesome along with intricate and intense riffs. As much as I like the guitar tone, it could really do with some bass. Still awesome.
2. Gojira - The Way of all Flesh
First album and immediately knew I would love it by the first second of the first track. Weird and incredibly atmospheric. This band has grown on me tremendously.
3. Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Goth-y vibe and peak songwriting. I absolutely love the last track.
4. Immolation - Dawn of Possession
Fast and intense, never holds back. I also love the mix of devilish and beautiful guitar riffs. "Those Left Behind" has an absolutely gorgeous outro.
5. Cryptopsy - Blasphemy Made Flesh
Very noisy (in a good way) and a massive sound.
6. Acid Bath - Paegan Terrorism Tactics
Solid songwriting. Love the second track and the last few tracks.
7. Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotten
sPooKy and intense.
8. Gorguts - Considered Dead
Playing this for Halloween. I love the vibe of this album.
9. Mastodon - Leviathan
Epic and weird. Exactly how I like my prog.
10. Vital Remains - Let Us Pray
Incredibly atmospheric old school death album. Lots of long songs. And I enjoy the satanic-like vocals. "Cult of the Dead" is my all-time favorite track.
11. Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Solid album with nice melodies.
12. Burzum - Burzum
Gloomy and very dark.
13. Psycroptic - Scepter of the Ancients
Very technical, but in a melodic and catchy way which is greatly appreciated.
14. Malignancy - Intrauterine Cannibalism (1999)
Suffocating production with relentless guitar riffs and drumming. The drumming is the best.
15. Cannibal Corpse - Eaten Back to Life
Very thrash-y with violent lyrics. The vocals really add to the intensity.
16. Pestilence - Consuming Impulse
Dark melodies and excellent gritty production.
Crazy how different we all are (and that's a good thing). Kinda explains how why I disagree with you A whole LOT! :)
And that's what makes music so fun!
@@MetalTrenches 100%
Great band!
I wish more people knew about YCBY. One of the most emotionally powerful and heavy pieces of music in the past 20 years
It’d help if you actually spelled out the band you want every one to know of……
@@jakepayne2985 you come before you is a great album by poison the well. I’m sorry if I caused any confusion
1. Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us
2. Fear Factory - Demanufacture
3. Deftones - White Pony
4. Loathe - I Let It In And It Took Everything

22. Static-X - Wisconsin Death Trip
23. All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals
24. Sepultura - Arise
25. Gojira - L’Enfant Sauvage
Dont really have a top 25, but my favorite metal albums so far are:
As I Lay Dying-An Ocean Between Us
Avenged Sevenfold-City of Evil
Slayer-God Hates Us All
Dying Fetus-Reign Supreme
Guns n Roses-Appetite for Destruction (technically hard rock but i dont fucking care, it goes fucking hard)

Metallica-Selftitled
Death-Human and Symbolic
Mastodon-Leviathan
Megadeth-Rust in Peace

The Too Dark Park tour was mind-blowing. The next tour was great too. Last Rights would be my 2nd favorite behind TDP.
Dude good call with volition. Cover to cover album for me for sure.
I've tried many times to listen to Dark Tranquility, but aside from Zodijackl Light and The Wonders at Your Feet, I just can't get into them. Seen em twice too!
