As chaotic and fun is this was they really missed an opportunity here. They could have amped up the cost a ton by making everything shelf stable. And I think Josh would have had a blast learning how to do it if he doesn't already know how.
Should have gotten a fancy freeze dry machine to make the food shelf stable. Then on GMM you can blindfold Rhett and Link and make them guess what food it candy it was originally.
Agreed. I think it’d be interesting for Josh as well as us to see him make a full MRE that’s shelf stable, freeze dried and capable of rehydration, etc. Or something one the easier side, using every part of a packaged MRE to make an elevated meal. 🤷🏻♀️ Just a concept.
Fun story: Chili mac saved me from a weird toxic relationship. I met a girl online who said she was an Army veteran like me. We were together for 9 months and there were a few red flags but the whole truth came out one day when I said something about chili mac and she said "WTF is chili mac?" I was like, you know, the thing served every lunch and dinner at every chow hall in the Army you were supposedly in! Turns out every story she told me about her "service" was something that happened to her ex husband. I met my wife two weeks later, been together 20 years!
I was in the Army from 1989-1993, and probably ate close to 500 MREs in that time. I sometimes buy the new MREs to take camping or hiking. The poppy seed pound cake that the new MREs have is so much better than anything we had for dessert. The only thing I miss is the dehydrated fruit cocktail and the dehydrated beef patty. Those were pretty good.
I went through basic two years ago, we still have the fruit cocktail and beef patty, they’re just not dehydrated. Maybe the way they taste is different
@@gibgabs2899 the dehydrated patty was cool. It was kind of freeze dried and with ramen and mre cheese it hit pretty hard. The fruit was kind of styrofoam-ish and was more like candy. I freaking loved it. Was always trading coffee for it.

@@justdropThat is not true, Eurasian Elk was not never hunted to extinction in Sweden, but there was too much hunt for it but never to extinction. These days the hubters kill 100000 eurasian elks every year in Sweden to maintain population control of them.
My husband will NOT eat anything with jalapeños or jalapeño juice because he said there was jalapeños in almost every MRE...probably had something to do with helping make the food shelf stable.
This works so well because we get true interactions between actual friends. In so many ways the unapologetic and unrehearsed and unpolished expression makes this appealing and enjoyable.
From ages 12-19 I was in Canadian army cadets, and in my final year I was part of an exchange to the Uk.
