Why can't we install Google Apps when we use a custom rom for our old mobile phone?
In different videos on our UA-cam channel we have carried out a large number of tests, on old mobile phones as well as on an old Android tablet. Because these mobile devices (Samsung Galaxy) did not have the possibility of receiving future updates from the South Korean firm, they were practically left unused or as a simple paperweight.
Luckily for us, there are plenty of third-party developers and experts who have helped us with an alternative. There are a large number of variants of custom ROMs to install, but not all of them are compatible with the models we have in our hands.
First of all, we could assure that the custom rom coming from a LineAgeOS scheme is the favorite of many because they have higher versions of Android over other different variants.
As a second alternative are those based on crDroid, which (from our point of view) are a better alternative than the previous one. The problem lies in the Android version number that we are trying to update.
If we talk about an Android version equal to or lower than 10, everything comes in a package. This means that not only the operating system is easily installed but also the gApps.
The difference is marked with Android 11 versions onwards. On an Android mobile phone or tablet, the operating system is installed without any problem with the help of the famous TWRP, but the Google Apps package cannot be installed. The reason is because these old mobile devices have little internal storage space.
In other words, Google Apps (or gApps as they are commonly known) are too heavy and therefore consume a similar amount of space when installed. That is the reason why in this video tutorial we try to provide a small solution for those who are experiencing this problem.
In order to manually install Google Apps, we rely mainly on the type of processor that our old Android mobile device has. After that we began to look for the different elements (at least the most important ones) that are part of these gApps and that we download them separately.
The download order is not important but the installation order is important. For this reason, we suggest you review the video from beginning to end as well as the information given in the reference blogs since there, the order of installation of each of these packages is explained step by step in a tutorial (in Spanish). Additionally, you should consider that after these elements have been downloaded, they do not have to be installed immediately.
