This movie had a great cast. I have always liked like it. My dad turned me onto the Robert Donat version. Then I saw this movie. I must say that Jim Caviezel was very good in it. He portrayed the innocence of Dantes when he was a boy and then changed the character into a cold unfeeling person out for revenge and definitely older and wiser. He was excellent. So was the rest of the cast. I really think the director did a great job on the casting of this movie. The actor who plays his friend was excellent as well. You could see how envious and hurt he was at Edmunds happiness. I just love this version!!! I was watching Richard Chamberlain in it and to me there is no comparison. You just don't get that young man quality. Maybe because he was already much older to begin with. I keep trying to see if that version gets better, but I don't see it. This is one of the best I have seen Kudos to the cast!!!!!
The 1964 version with Alan Badel made by the BBC qusndo the count manages to finally overcome the love of mercedes and consgeuir to love again and go ahead and forget his past that only brought suffering and pain. This version was too incredible to see the count with Haydee in that version.
The 2002 version is horrible and poorly written, the script is extremely poorly prepared and poorly written. The Soviet version, The Prisoner of Château d'If (Uznik zamka If) is superior. The end of this version is better. Even the workplace romance of director Georgi Yungvald-Khilkevich with actress Nadira Mirzayeva that played Haydee is more interesting than the cliché romance in the film. The relationship between Georgi Yungvald-Khilkeviche and Nadira Mirzayeva shows that Alexandre Dumas was right about the end of the book. Haydée's oriental beauty triumphed., as well as the oriental beauty of Nadira. ua-cam.com/video/PhsKan79r98/v-deo.html
But very simplistic compared to the 1964 version of the BBC when the count is a more bitter and spiteful person, a person who plans more and acts less for the emotions that would lead him to face inconvenient situations, in the end he realizes that he is surpassing the past that he will be happy and fall in love with Haydee and follow his life with her. ua-cam.com/video/bF1Z7irZLdY/v-deo.html

It’s unfortunate due to his unapologetic Christianity. Which makes us Christian’s love him all the more. He has been given big roles made a lot of money, but he leads in faith, which turns Hollywood away.
Actually JC's career didnt suffer after Passion of the Christ, he had films after that, that Outlander he's the lead star, that was good!he maybe not starred as lead role in some films he did after passion but still he's active with his career..last year a tv series " Persons of Interest" started whom JC is the lead star..he is bloody good in that series..:)

The two jobs favorites of Jim Caviezel from his entire filmography is "The count of Montecristo" & ·"the passion of Christ". amazing both, he deserved the oscar for both works.
Jim a déjà fait une capsule humoristique(sic) avec Will farrell (a sick hollyweird) dans le passée et s'en va faisant semblant de marcher sur l'eau...🤔He never expose his co-actors et actress of hollywood and will never...They tell the truth indeed, but without exposing the names of the culprits....🤔 But condemned who if they are never exposed?????🤔 Their doctrine is to say it without arousing suspicion on them and their accomplices under the cover of humor or film... Controlled opposition and ritual!!!!!!!!!! The movie might help get more people talking about ending the traffic, but the masses are only praising the "heroes." Nobody really talks about the SUBJECT but rather about the film and its ''heroes''....🙄🙄
I think that journalist was a bit flirtatious at the end when she says he is very good at it, also she moved her leg a bit in a flirtatious way>body language.
I know this comment was posted long ago, but I can't resist pointing out that Jim was most definitely not "very young" here, lol. At the time of this interview, James Caviezel was 34 years old. I wouldn't call 34 very young. If you're interested in seeing James when he was very young, you should look up the film "Wyatt Earp" starring Kevin Costner. You will see a young Jim playing the role of Warren Earp here. :) The film came out in 1994, so James was in his mid-twenties.
This interview was done in January of 2002; Jim was born September 1968. That would make him 33 during this interview, and 31/32 when filming "The Count". And for the record, the 30's are young because you haven't quite hit your peak yet. Now, had he been in his forties and doing the film, that would have been different. Trust me, I wish I had the youth of my 30's back.
He was born 1 year before Nadira Mirzayeva who played Haydee, Edmond's new love in the Soviet version of the cunt of monte cristo, The Prisoner of Château d'If ( Узник замка Иф) in 1988. She who became the film director's lover and married him.
@unclebucky3 thanks for the answer i didn't quite remember all the fuss around the movie i was very young actually when it came out (even though i looked upon the whole movie) anyways i still think it was the best movie about "the little guy up there" lol whether hollywood likes to dish about it !! maybe some people don't like to much realism guess the truth hurts heh? btw thanks for sharing and may MG and JC be more lucky in the future ;)

This film is not worthy of a romantic classic. Romanticism is not synonymous with disney story. "Life is but a long loss of those whom we love. They leave behind them a train of sorrows. I loved it. Of course I never read the novel if I would have I would be able to see all of the content that was not translated from the novel to the screen and in that case perhaps I would have found it lacking but coming from anyone who has never read the book first this Is a compelling movie and story with twists and turns. My favorite film too!
Henry Cavill really does look like his son.
One of the best movies I've ever watched.

I think that Jim Caviezel is a great actor, and he is a very very beauitful man. He did an excellent job in this movie.

The Count of Monty Cresto is one of my favorite book. I love this man Jim Chizavel ❤️ what a beautiful kind and compassionate human being and wise.
It's incredible how 2002 looks like the 90s

The body language of the host says a lot. She is in love. :)
Yes, she's touching her hair
Ann Curry does such a good interview!
He's my favorite actor and that's my favorite movie🤩🤩🤩
Ps: her voice is ASMR for me, he's really calm and relaxing😊
Thanks Suzy for the fabulous video! Jim is so gorgeous! You made my day with this interview that I had unfortunately missed.
“Redemptive suffering.” Oh 2002 Jim, you are just beginning to get that! Wow.

I love this movie the mind of the writer a black man Alexander Dumas is truly amazing. Ending change Nicely done.
Black man what?
Dumas was 1/4 black and didn't write the book himself. August Maquet came up with the characters and plot.
Love this, awesome video of a very young Jim!!! ;-)
Damn. Jim is seductive.
Love it,this is my favorite movie,i watched it 14 times and can watch it again
Pure guy
IK! He is amazing and I wish he could be seen in more movies, in addition to his recent popular tv show!
He's gotten really dark in interviews in the last few years- no fun or lightness in him.
he’s very different from how he was in this interview in 2002. The man’s honestly gone mad
@@millayyy125 Yes, he has gone mad. His eyes are really dark these days. He's lost his sense of humor
Why does it look like the footage is from 80s. Get your sh*t together. It’s only been 16 years. This is making me feel old af!
Amei e amo ver este filme....maravilhoso....Jim Caviezel adoro você
