Those little ones are jumpy! When I saw you drop that first bass I was like "been there man"
Wow that Walmart puts mine to shame. We barely have half of an aisle. That’s half of one side by the way.
Wow. This one isn't even in a fishing location! I feel like there are probably better ones around even. Hopefulyl you have some other good place for basic lures.
I've caught a lot of fish on those cheap walmart lures. And it doesn't hurt nearly as much when you get one stuck in a tree or on a log and break it off. As for breaking the rod, I always figure if i don't break a few rods a year, then I'm not fishing enough. Haha. If you fish a lot, it's gonna happen
Agreed. it happens, just wish it was an older rod that I wasn't enjoying or something!
Loved the video Aaron, Walmart looks to have a lot of brand names.
With the rod snapping , that's got me worried as I have the longer version of it
Just seeing yours snap like that has got my confidence down in it.
Yeah, i didn't feel like I was being ovely agressive - it actually snapped when the line snapped I think - or it snapped and that snapped the line. The rod has some good qualities, but I'll be looking for another alternative soon.
Good job I really like your little tackle box I need to get me on I always change the swivel on those little spinner baits
Thanks. It's a Gamakatsu - got it from Tackle Warehouse. Typically use it with my waders for trout, but worked out well for this too! At some point I'll probably get into modifying baits a little more. Appreciate the comment.
I recognize a lot of those lures, and I definitely need to stock up on some more of those as well. That third snap was definitely the worst!
Definitely. Just part of the deal though. Like Joe from Random Fishing said, if you don't break a couple rods a year you're not fishing enough!
The Yo-Zuri is so much better than the cheap ones from my experience.
It defintiely had a better action. The Creme brand might have a use in shallow areas where floating lures would perform better.
Take a look at the broken rod tip. Is it a hollow tip? I heard somewhere that with the lower quality (and price) of the CDM rods, the hollow tips are fragile which can lead to more breaking. The solid tip rods sold on aliexpress are more forgiving but less sensitive. Sorry to see you break your Venon, especially since I have that rod too :(
I'll check it out. Performance iwse the rod seemed good, just between the break on trip #2 (maybe it was #3) and the reel seat, not going to replace it witht the same model.
Yep - hollow tip. It was sensitive. Would have been fun for trout season.
@@AaronHuntFishing I'm going to remember your experience and hopefully my rod does not meet the same fate. Thanks for posting.
Shame about the rod , at least it was later in the session and not the start , I carry a spare , plus a spare reel in case I get a terminal backlash , I have a four piece rod , and a telescopic , which are handy to pack as back up . I also set the drags on my reels to minimum in case I strike (set the hook) into a snag , I've found the cheap baits are OK , although I change out the hooks for singles as the supplied hooks are usually poor quality , tight lines .
I think eventually a travel rod int he truck will be my primary backup. On longer trips I usually take at least 2 rods, but this one was just pretty much in the neighborhood. Oh well. There will be another rod in my future. LOL.
The rebel teeny craw is such a great pond and creek lure.
It has a great reputation; I keep forgetting I have it! lol.
