  • I must made these simple laser engraved cocktail boards as accessories for our Wicked Cocktail Smokers, with an easy epoxy inlay. This is my first time using Bronze pigment. You'll have to tell me in the comments if you think it worked or now. I'll also show you how to fix those stray epoxy resin holes that is super fast and will only set you back about 10 minutes.
New to epoxy resin work? Not to worry, I will put a link to some tutorials that will get you going including one to fix lots of pesky bubbles you might have below.
This video will show you how to do a resin inlay with a mat finish that is great for cocktail serving boards. You can use either bamboo or hardwood for these. Choose a food contact safe epoxy resin like Totalboat Tabletop that is BPA and VOC free. Add eye catching colors with a good quality pigment powder. Then finish with an all natural wood conditioner. Find a material list and tools with links to my favorite products below.
Use your own design, or buy a SVG instant download file from places like Etsy. That is where we found this cool design.

This was an easy laser project and a great way to start using epoxy with your engraving.

You can just scrape off the excess epoxy by lightly scraping over the design with a plastic dry wall tool.
They’re cheap and you can sand them down ever so slightly to leave just enough left over to account for any shrinkage that may happen. It will save you a few sheets of sand paper and a significant amount of time on sanding.

That is true and I usually use a little less, although I only used about 35 grams of epoxy for this. However, resin bubbles tend to go to the top, or near the top. If you only pour enough to be just over the engraving, you may get more trapped bubbles. I do find that I have less that I have to deal with if I over fill. It took me about 6 minutes to sand each board.

Nice video! I don't have a laser on my cnc, but maybe my 22° vbit could work

Really nice inlay... but what is a cocktail board?

Kind of like a charcuterie board but for cocktails. You can use the back to cut up things like lemon. And serve your cocktail on the front. We make Cocktail Smokers and these make a really nice presentation.
