    the negative type of questions always get me; It's typically with words that make a question/sentence sound contradicting, not sure if it's because English is my second language.

    Do you have advice for nursing students who read too much into the test questions? I have almost 6 years experience as a CNA. From memory care, to nursing home, to assisted living and then the Hospital. So I always relate questions to real life and end up getting things wrong because I'm overanalyzing the question being asked. How do I stop doing that?

      @NursingSOS  Рік тому

      Emily Faith, yes NCLEX world, vs real world are very different!! Make sure when you are studying you are learning the textbook way, not relating it to a patient or real world experience, but learning the textbook way. Then with the test questions, making sure you are consciously thinking NCLEX world! You've got this!

    Hello! I'm will be returning to nursing school in the fall for my ASN degree after failing out of my BSN program at my previous school. One thing that was never really explained is whether or not we have to know EVERY single sign and symptom of a particular disease/medication. Is there a way to prioritize them so that I can better learn them? ty!

    • @NursingSOS
      @NursingSOS  2 роки тому +3

      Great question, Prin! So you are right, memorizing them is SO HARD!!!! We actually don't recommend memorizing them at all, instead, we recommend you learn the pathophysiology {what is happening inside the body) of the disorder, and then take that and as you are learning the signs and symptoms take the time to critically think through them. Why are they happening based on the patho (what is happening inside the body). So you won't be memorizing them, instead you will be learning them as they apply to the disorder and critically thinking about why they are happening. This video talks more about it: ua-cam.com/video/9kuq44u763g/v-deo.html You've got this!!!

      @@NursingSOS Ohhh!! So instead of just trying to forcefully memorize them, I should "connect the dots" like you always say with the disease and observe how the patho is making the body react instead right? Kind of like cause and effect. I wish that my previous med Surg 1 instructor would've explained it this way. All she was doing during lectures was reading word for word from 100+ PowerPoint slides, and would sometimes say "good to know" and "need to know." For someone with no nursing background experience, that was no way for me to learn. But with God's help, he place my community college in my path and I now know not only what's expected from nursing school, but also I am now better prepared. Especially if I may have to end up teaching myself the material again (but hopefully this new school will have instructors that actually teach lol). Thank you for everything that you do for us nursing students in need Christina! You should truly consider becoming a nursing instructor! Your charisma and enthusiasm is contagious haha. More instructors should be like you, who actually care about their students.
