That bit where the sound cuts out is a familiar technique that happens in a lot of KPOP M/Vs. It's sort of jarring the first time you see it because you don't know what's happening, editing error, but it's always a deliberate thing that is only found in the video and not during an actual stage performance.
I don’t think too much of the theory behind the director. We need something poppy, floating from XG and the girls gave to us. I’m happy. No need for a difficult theory. :)
