Amanda’s advice is so similar to what my grandparents always said after almost 70 years of marriage.

I miss them a lot and take their advice every day with my fiancé.

Congrats! I think waiting until they were married was probably the best for their relationship. They didn't have to worry about fans debating on if they broke up what would happen to smosh. They got to truly get to know each other on a different level and enjoy each other without fans getting into their business. They both look so happy.

I just wanna say this relationship must be crazy fun. Two actors/comedians? You guys must make each other laugh all the time.
It’s less about being a comedian more so the fact that shourtney the ship has existed for so long and also denied of its existence in the past by Shayne and Courtney. I think there’s also this feeling of online fandoms where even though you may ship a pair or hope for its existence, you don’t really believe it’s true. So finally when it’s been confirmed, you’re like, “oh my god, the most popular smosh ship is really a thing.” It’s shocking because yeah, as Shayne said, no one even knew they were dating. And as far as like online couples go it’s usually a dating announcement and eventually a marriage announcement. In that regard it feels like the fandom skipped a whole step so yeah, it’s a lot at once.
I personally used to ship the two super long ago but stopped really caring since they had both wanted to reaffirm their status as friends, and from there I just never really tried seeing them as a couple. Just close friends. And when you see people as how you want to see them, you don’t really try investigating further. So I wasn’t really looking for clues or reading into their interactions. Don’t have an “I knew it!” moment. Just have a laughable “it’s so funny that these two have been shipped for eternity and now we’re finally seeing that it’s real”.
Anyways good for them. I would’ve figured that part of the reason they kept it private was because of the fact that the shourtney ship was always pushed onto them in the past and didn’t really want to play into that for the audience

Words can't properly describe how amazing the individuals at Smosh are. Every single person, from the entertaining joksters we see on these videos, to the individuals behind the scenes. The fact that NO ONE at Smosh and inside Courtney & Shayne's inner circle decided to leak this information shows how tight-knit of a family they are and how much they all genuinely care for one another. I love it.
I've loved and watched Smosh for years, seen Shayne and Courtney grow into themselves as entertainers. I'm happy for them and glad they'll continue to just be without having to necessarily highlight it.

That secret could have gotten out so easily; a friend of a friend of a cousin has a tiktok and boom, you're viral. It's really a credit to the culture of community that has been built at Smosh that every single person in that building collectively and silently closed ranks to protect them. That's so rare. That's a unicorn.

I love that this both offered more insight into their marriage but took a hard turn into just who they are as people, which I think is the healthy side of fan curiosity. Wanting to know what brings joy to the people who bring joy to you.
I think my favourite part about Shayne and Courtney getting married, is even when the ship started, as they said they were just co-workers, I felt in my heart that they would eventually be together, they just seemed so perfect together, best friends to lovers. I'm so so happy for it

My favorite part of this episode was when they just started talking about normal podcast stuff like reddit and video games, and Shayne could just casually mention hearing Courtney's gamer noises from the other room. Perfect example of how content won't change but they can just be free now.

Literally like maybe it's kind of parasocial of me, but its so sweet being able to hear them being happy and open with each other. And like I don't think anyone really wants or expects the content to change or for them to let the audience into their entire lives, it's honestly more sweet and exciting to just hear the little morsels that they're happy to share.

@@fran-yt4ok Nobody *knew* but there was, as they admitted, a decent amount of evidence to give people a decent hunch. I'm sure, while the announcement as a whole was still a surprise, the confirmation from the wedding photos that they were and are together probably didn't surprise some people, only confirmed it.
That being said, I had a vague inkling that it was possible but didn't think any of this was going on. Certainly caught my by surprise.

Fun fact: my uncles favorite holiday is April fools day and planned their wedding on April fools day. The whole wedding everyone is like “what’s the joke there has to be something”. I don't get the stigma with calling someone as someone else's spouse.
Like, to me the phrases "Shayne's wife" or "Courtney's Husband" are equivalent terms. People have attached a lot more connotation to saying that 'x' woman is 'y' s wife due to humanity's history, and I think we need to re-normalise both terms and meet in the middle.

Finally got around to watching this and I just wanted to comment and say that I'm so grateful to Shayne and Courtney for feeling comfortable with talking about this and being so open and personal with us. I know we're just viewers and we only get what you want to show us, so I feel a little emotional that you're being so open to us. I only wish the best for you both and I hope you guys continue to only share what you are comfortable sharing and not what the audience wants to see/hear. There are definitely people who are sooo invasive and if that ever happens, i hope you guys will put your foot down and not let them control you or make you feel like you HAVE to share something. So as a fan i was around for the early days of Smosh and dropped out around the sale to Defy so i only just got back into the Smosh circle, but honestly learning about the cast and catching up on who they were as people was lovely to see. Especially with how rocky the road has been before recent times, needless to say it's awesome to see Courtney and Shayne tie the knot especially while discussing previous relationship struggles so publicly. So congratulations to the pair and many best wishes for their future together!

What's actually funny is that I stopped watching Smosh after the golden era, so I had no idea that they hired all these people, etc. I watched a couple of videos after Anthony announced he was coming back to Smosh and with all the videos where Courtney and him were in the same video, even if they weren't next to each other, I was like... they have to be dating. The way he looks at her is like she's the only girl in the entire world.. there's no way with their body language that they are just friends. Every time I looked it up, people just said they were friends, and now here we are.
This is crazy, I love you guys. You two will always be more than just Shayne's wife or Courtney's husband because to me you two will always be remembered as my favorite members of the cast, whether you're together or on your own you always make me smile.

Then the comments said there were pictures posted on social media. Then I also realized what day it was and that they posted on April 1st

It’s truly sad how Courtney is scared of being pigeonholed into only being seen as “Shayne’s wife”, because I truly see her to be just as much of the backbone of Smosh as Shayne. Shayne is very funny, but he’s also on the more reserved side, and I think Courtney balances it out by being THE glue that holds the cast, new and old, together. It’s true that friendship is the heart of Smosh, and I think friendship includes the welcoming arms of a friend AND the laughs you have together. They’re amazing individuals on their own, but together they’re powerful. Best Friends to Lovers to Marriage? That’s basically Ianthony at their peak.
It’s also amazing just how talented Courtney is on her own, and how generously she shares that talent with us. The liveshow trailers are always the best part of the liveshows to me.
