Yamaha NTX5 Acoustic Guitar

- Some of you were interested in my review of the Yamaha NTX5: This is an electro acoustic guitar. The acoustic volume is quiet, about 40 to 50% lower than my regular classical guitars, due to the thin body. However, the sound is warm and full. The pick up is one of the best ones I’ve ever tried, very clear and noiseless. It features a pick up and mic knob combined, I’m not impressed with the microphone feature, it sounds thin and trebly. The pick up is the star here. Plugged into an amp sounds extremely well.
For this recording I’m using a pair of KM184 microphones and the direct line, mixed 50/50. A little bit of eq to tame the low frequencies and some reverb.
I’m very happy with this guitar, my only challenge is the with the fretboard, I’m not used to playing arpeggios with thin necks, it will just require some practice.
I’ve listened to this over and over and admire the fluidity of the arrangement. I have a Yamaha NCX900R which I love.

What kind of strings are you using? I've bought an NTX5 myself (much because of your review, which is great) but I feel it sounds much too dull. I've tried Savarez Alliance HT (540j) and Aquila Alabastro.

I don't know the the string brand. I'm still using the strings that came with the guitar. Please note I made the video using 2 stereo mics to capture the acoustic sound of the guitar. I also used the direct line signal. The strings have a very minimal infuence in the overall sound. If you are looking for bright strings, I would recommend the Savarez Crystal, Yellow label

El pick up en el NTX5 es mas avanzado que los modelos anteriores. Suena muy bien amplificada.

Yes. This is a hollow classical/acoustic guitar that can be played without an amp. I believe they are thinner than the standard classical bodies.
This video is actually playing acoustically using a couple of mics in the room.

Honestly I find e whole repertoire to be lengthy n monotonous. Not much variation in the song piece. Kept playing on the same chord structures within the first three frets. Would do better to shorten e piece!
