Hi, I have my procedure next Tuesday at 1pm but I have to catch a 4-hour flight the following night at 9pm. Do you know if being on the plane will cause a dry socket?
Hi Dr Kher Yee, may I know how I know if the bleeding level is normal, it's almost been 24 hours, but the extraction side is still bleeding. I can still feeel warm liquid flowing out from the extraction side.. I have already used up the gauze that hospital gave(changed 5 gauze with the first 4hrs). And is it necessary for me to go back to dentist to check for the bleeding problem. I am so worry because the dentist assistant didn't position the first cotton well it seems that the bleeding never seems to stops regardless of how much gauze I have replaced (mainly I can't open my mouth big or else blood start oozing out all over my tooth). It bled when i was sleeping too, and it's definitely making me headache and nauseous with the blood taste
I got two of my teeth removed today and am currently using gauze to stop the bleeding. I’m a bit scared to take it off too because i don’t see a blood clot forming and i dont want to get dry socket or an infection. So what do I do?
I just got all of mine taken out this morning. I know it's soon but each time I drink my medication(pills), I get a small amount of blood on either side of my mouth. Is that normal? I'm scared to dislodge the blood clot but I don't know if water or swallowing can hurt that.
Your tips are very useful, I had my lower two wisdom teeth removed on Monday. I'm not going to smoke for a few weeks since I know it can lead to dry socket, but what about alcohol? Things like beer, wine etc
Drinking alcohol can increase the chances of developing a dry socket. At least try to avoid it for the first 24 hrs. Ideally you should wait about 7-10 days while the wound heals. Choose to drink water instead; staying hydrated is important during the healing process.
hi doctor may i asking if the patient is removal the wisdom teeth what the food should they eat ?and during this time it this the patient still can brush their teeth or they still cannot brush it until their full recovery .thanks doctor
Soft diet is advised for the first 3 days like Bread, oats, porridge etc that doesnt require much chewing force. Brushing is highly required, bcz we don’t want any food debris or tartar from your mouth to remain and cause possible infection over the socket. Jst to avoid brushing over the wound area. hope it helps!

It’s alright if it continues to ooze slightly on the 4th day? Also, only one side hurts as the other doesn’t anymore, is that a sign of dry socket? Hey I have a question I recently got my wisdom teeth removed 4 days ago and I’m experiencing loss of sensation with my teeth, feels weird when I bite and I can’t sense anything when I chew with my teeth, I just want to make sure it’s not permanent nerve damage
I am afraid you might be probably encountering a post-operative complication naming loss of sensory sensation due to the injury to your inferior alveolar nerve (one of the nerves in your lower jaw running under your teeth) when your wisdom tooth just sitting above it. It can be temporary or permanent, so it has to be reviewed and monitored closely with your dentist. Kindly get back to your dentist if the symptom does not improve.
