Looking forward to the new Dashboard! Yay!!
I’m a Hubitat first home using the C8 pro. Hubitat > home assistant > voice assistants / HomeKit. I absolutely love the flexibility and I’m very happy with the product. I hope we get better GUI though. Please add that soon. Homey and Apple look way better. I won’t change the rest though ❤
Great video! We upgraded to the C-8 Hub and are very pleased with the connectivity and reliability
I bought a few of the standard C-8, and there was plenty to love, but the CPU and RAM were my biggest complaints. Super happy for the new model.
Now, all they need is the ability to change the angle of the antenna and make it wall mountable.
What were you doing to require the additional ram/cpu? I have the C8 and am on the fence but don't think I have a need for it yet.
I'm very happy to see new work on the dashboards. Will the new dashboard work on older models or only the C-8 Pro?
Yes, the new Easy Dashboards will be available on all models.
Want one but need to know can a do virtual switch so can still control my regular lutron switches thru amazon. Dont want to have to buy new lutron hub. Have basic one
Can anyone answer this trying to get some information, but on hubitat is very hard, apparently. I want to know if hubitat works with switchbot and wifi devices such as tuya devices?
Can I have everything from the hub imported into Apple home? Also how does this compare from home assistant?
Short answer is yes. However, it depends on the matching of Hubitat device "capabilities" to HomeKit "characteristics." As for comparing Hubitat with Home Assistant, well, we may be a "little" biased here, but with Hubitat you get a plug and play experience for your Z-Wave and Zigbee devices without the need to purchase additional hardware. And, as an added bonus, you get a very robust rule engine system that is unmatched.
Does it support thread?
Thread devices are supported via Matter, but the hub is not a Thread Border Router.
If the C9 Pro is 100% cloud free, how would a smart lock be controlled remotely?
That's a great question! And one that has no straight answer :-) With a local only hub such as Hubitat Elevation, the goal is to have everything running local so you can enjoy your time away and not worry about your home. For those instances where you must control something from afar, Hubitat also offers remote access to your devices from anywhere in the world with an internet connection. Because we value our customers' security and privacy, we do not recommend port forwarding as means to access your local network. Doing so it exposes your hub to cyberattacks no matter how "secure" we may try to make it happen. If you really need local control while away, you may want to look into external VPN services.
There are many smart locks that don't require cloud connectivity and work on the mesh standards used by Hubitat hubs (Zigbee and Z-wave) so communication remains local. As for locks tied to a cloud platform, Hubitat itself can't remove that requirement for a 3rd party's device.
If you’re asking how you would control locks or other devices when you’re not home, there is remote control through the app. Cloud-free just means your automations and rules are not reliant on the cloud, but it does require you purchase devices that don’t rely on the cloud themselves (zigbee, z-wave, or local LAN devices).
Will old dashboards still be supported on new versions that have the new dashboard?
Yes they will check the forums.
Please add UK Outlet icons to Dashboards this time, Thanks
How is this better than Home Assistant?
Well as a user of home assistant I would have to say it probably actually works because home assistant does not.
Can this control Aqara devices
How to buy and distribute
New hardware; horrible interface
Interface designed by engineers, not UX designers
Does it have POE?
No.
