I have finished two journals and I agree mine fell apart as well. I tore the cover off both journals cut the spine and did my version of putting it back together.(I even glued every other page together on the second one and it still did not hold up.) I have the black paged journal and it's only used for gelli prints and such it is falling apart as well and I have only 5 pages in it so far.
This is going to sound crazy! I bought Recollections journal two for $5 and am using it for my napkin journal and it is my favorite journal so far! The pages don't curl and warp or fall apart. I am not using it with really wet mediums but it does have modeling paste, inks sprayed with water (I am careful not to soak the spine) but it is holding up. I did glue every other page together for strength and all pages are gessoed before other mediums are applied! That said I will buy many more of them!
I hope they work for you! I really like mine. The other thing that I did different is I started my first page in the center of the book and I alternate my new pages one in front of the center page then the next one behind it. I am hoping it might balance it's self out if that makes sense.
On the other hand, it is quite logical and expectable that those hard bound books will have a problem when you put thick stuff in it - it only can get bigger and bigger until..... ;-) Either use ring or disc bound systems or - as I do - take away 1/3 -1/2 of the pages, there is nothing else to do in my opinion.
i have the same journal you have, i have had now for 7 months and i use alot of water on mine because i been using Tim Holtz distress oxides on my pages and my binding has held up fine and i even use his chipboard quotes in it and my pages are heavy, and its holding up fine, i love your pages you have done

Shoot!! I hate that!!! they aren't cheap- I wish they could hold up to the onslaught of all of the mediums!!
