They've done awesome shows with tons of bands. John fogerty from credence Clearwater revival comes to mind for something recent. Played with members of heart as well
Set One Rockin' Down The Highway > Takin' It To The Streets, Sometimes A River, Black Water, Long Train Runnin' > Texas > Long Train Runnin', Drums > Jesus Is Just Allright, China Grove, Listen To The Music
To add context, Thursday of the fest got cancelled thanks to a microburst on the farm Wednesday that blew a bunch of shit over. The Doobie Incident was suppose to headline Thursday night. So tons of people coming to Lockn were in the area in a holding pattern. We camped out Wed/Thurs and then woke up at 3am to get in line to enter the festival campgrounds. We were lucky enough to get to our campsite around 10:30-11 am. Just enough time to set up tents, grab a beer, and head to the main stage. Doobie Brothers pulled a major solid and stuck around to open the fest at noon, despite having a full show in North Carolina later that evening. Probably why you might notice Michael McDonald takes it fairly easy during this set. Still, after the weather drama, this was an amazing open to the fest. They weren't scanning wristbands or checking bags just to try and get as many people into the show field as possible. Taking everything into consideration, it ended up one of my favorite shows ever!
Wtffff. I looked up sci doobie brothers covers on a whim and had no idea I'd find an entire show where they played with the band! That's amazing!

What brand of guitar does Michael Kang play? Shorter neck than traditional, but still same frets...
Scott Walker 5 string electric mandolin

I like them doing Texas with the Doobies

Why doesn't Michael Kang get to play a little bit of fiddle on Black Water ?
Because hes humble
And classey
Where are the throngs of FANS?? DEAD?
+Mike Johnson It beats playing the ribfest circuit
+Mike Johnson They put them as the opening act Friday at noon (while massive traffic jam kept most of us out of the festival until 5pm
+George Costanza ive been waiting for someone to point out that the traffic jam was the reason for the sparse crowd
Thanks mandoshane!
