Many years/ decades ago, there was a time when security guards were respectable figures that could carry themselves with dignity and knew what they were doing.

There was a time if you were unemployed for a few months the job centre would put you through the SIA course. My friend worked security for years and would complain as so many new starters were there because they had to be and not because they wanted to be.
Years back companies hired people themselves and didnt use these dime a dozen security firms

Only way to treat them DJ, straight in with assertive. Stop filming, is like a red rag. Proves, as per normal, whatever you tell them, its never enough. They basically think you must tell them your inside leg measurements.
the two gentlemen at the end were very good, great at interacting with the public, and a credit to the company...security needs a little more training, but i think they could be good too.

27:47 If there is publicity for the company, and it's negative publicity, then tough. The company does not have any legal right to stop someone giving their opinion about the company.
It does have a legal right to boot him off the premises.
@jemase7931 a right to ask someone to leave and use reasonable force to remove. But becomes tricky where it is publically accessible and the person is not harassing or interfering with the owners lawful activity, as they "could" risk assault in some circumstances.
@@jemase7931 They do not have the legal right to kick someone off their premises. It's not black and white. Common law use of force requires the force to be kept to a minimum and to be only used when absolutely necessary. So just because someone says no or doesn't move within milliseconds doesn't mean force can be used. Look at travellers setting up camp in a patch of land and how the courts have to be involved to get them removed even though they are trespassing even more than a person who is a few feet onto some property and doing nothing more than use a camera.

His approach could have been better, but to be honest even though he did incorrectly try to stop you filming, he was calm about questioning you.
But DJ I like how you get people to realise that their business is none of yours, but then the penny drops, that your business is none of theirs.
Being assertive of one's rights is not being hostile.
But it is hostile to approach someone who is not on the property (or even if they are, right at the very edge) and make unreasonable demands.

Tritax Symmetry and Bidwell have detailed pages on the business park, new and proposed units. Phase 1 was 2017-2020 with newer units and the 661k ft2 Co-op distribution. The four units where DJ is auditing & educating is phase 2. Phase 3 will be three units about 900k ft2 total between the retention pond and A1 scheduled to open 2025. A phase 4 is planned beyond 2026. Tritax Energy coordinates with occupying businesses on roof solar installation and also provides backup power units. The land was part of Stratton Farm.
edit: Along the rear of phase 1 from A1 and past Noatum is a public footpath and others running through the industrial and perimeter. Tritax Symmetry does note they rerouted some public footpaths from the farm era.

I think both security guys were fair. I dont think its a problem to discuss what your filming.
First few times I've watched this guy and he does come across as deliberately provocative. It is not unusual for someone to question why you're recording. If someone turned up outside my house I'd be alarmed and want to know why they are recording. A corporate would also be alarmed. Regardless of what side of the law you're standing, he could do better by de-escalating rather than antagonise. Guess that would result in fewer views. Either way, channel is not for me.
@@zedzpan yeh I think agree if he'd just said look I record these sites for UA-cam just because we like looking at them you can see them here and I think most people would be fine.
@HA05GER If he changed his way, in fact they would likely help and listen to his feedback in a positive light. They could be getting free advice such as ensuring monitors are concealed from view, etc. but because he is being so antagonistic, they won't listen to him because they will likely think it's some kind of setup and their is an ulterior motive. To be honest, it makes for an excellent distraction while someone else could be doing something harmful. Good communication is the key but then noone would watch his videos and the hive community wouldn't egg him on.

Saying the security guards at this place weren’t nice to you is a bit of a stretch. If anything DJ was quite antagonistic. Getting too easily triggered by being (wrongfully) told by someone (ignorant of the law) that you can’t do something (you know you can) is quite sad.
I understand this sort of reaction if they’re being aggressive or rude but this one didn’t seem warranted.

It depends on what manner of high viz it is.
A raggedy old dirty yellow(ish) hi-viz denotes a worker.
A pristine pressed orange hi-viz, complete with accessories, lanyard, pens, camera, phone, clipboard and buttoned all the way to the top denotes either a management visitor or clueless office worker venturing out into the hostile outside world.

I’m an Amateur radio instructor. Your handheld may work but will work much more efficiently (pick up weaker signals) when the antenna is vertical. It’s a matter of the polarization of the antenna.
When the guard is so close picking up his transmission is easy but another transmission from a further away transmitter might not be picked up clearly.

As data handlers they should provide you with footage from their cctv that looks out beyond their property boundaries.
Who's their nominated person for the legal management of the CCTV and what are their declared terms to the ico.
You're entitled to all of that if they're recording you.
If he requests it, they should provide it. The youtuber should provide his details to them as he is also a data handler.
He can request it if he is on it but they can refuse to provide it. If they refuse to provide it he can complain to the ICO with his reasons as to why it is necessary for him to have it and the company might need to explain why they have refused to provide it.
There's no automatic entitlement to CCTV footage, even if you are on it. You have to have good reason to obtain it.
@@TheHovel subject access for footage of yourself requires no reason to be disclosed. They can put forward a refusal if it comes under "manifestly unfounded or excessive" but they have to justify it.
Most of the time it's very easy to justify why you want it if you're even bothering to ask for it in the first place.
Refusal is very dodgy ground. Any slip up in the paper trail and it's all manner of trouble. Better for them to just allow subject access. Unless there's a very serious reason not to. Even then the person can probe and dig to get around it eventually which could result in penalties for the data handler. Especially if the data handlers house isn't in order and the nominated responsible person isn't very good.

Most modern day security guards will, as part of their job come into contact with cctv. You’d think by now most security guards would be aware of, trained in or at least possess the most basic of knowledge of understanding regarding the use of cameras……..NO !
