I feel like you're also ignoring the fact that both Childe and Scara are not reliable sources. This is not to say that they are lying just that they are unreliable. Childe is a terrible judge of character ironically enough Scara himself mocks Childe for being too dense to know when he's blatantly being manipulated. ( him thinking the Rooster genuinely cares about his family,totally not just using them as bargaining chips and potential hostages) There's no way you could tell me he's somehow hasn't caught on to the rooster but can completely clocked on to someone who's meant to be a master manipulator like Arlecchino As for Wanderer by his own admission he states that not only does he see the worst in people but he doesn't actively hang around the other fatui very much. Meaning it's likely most of his opinions on them come from hearsay or very brief encounters with them. Wanderer and Childe are not 100% reliable sources as they obviously have biases and did not know Arlecchino on a personal level. I think it's much more interesting for her to be a character with gray morality who commits dubious acts for good reasons than for her to just reveal that it was all an act and that she's been bad from the start.

I think Arlecchino is on the more "good" side. Like a Mafia boss of sorts who cares for the community but less than their own "family" and anyone who isn't apart of either she doesn't care about. I do believe(even as someone who loves her) is putting on a mask in front of the Traveller and her "children" but not in a bad way. Like she's hiding her true self from her "children" because she cares about them and the Traveller because well. The Traveller is one of the main reasons behind Signoras death AND because they're dangerous given they've fought the Electro Archon twice and lived, Fought against 2(3) Harbingers and won, fought against two dragons(that might be sovereigns) and survived, fought against a narwhal that could've destroyed Fontaine and is possible as strong as a Sovereign etc etc. So Arlecchino is playing it safe with the Traveller only showing them her good side given how unpredictable they can be. Rant aside, Arlecchino does have a more crazy side 100% but she's not showing the Traveller her crazy side because she finds it more profitable for herself to be on friendly terms with them. I'm guessing we'll see her true self in 4.6~ which is rumoured to be the update she becomes playable AND the update where we might fight her. As per why we might fight her, I'm unsure because I don't think she'll throw her plans out the window and randomly fight them, so possibly given we're going to Natlan and we might fight Murata and Capitano it's a test to see if we can? IDK. As per Childes and Scaramouche's voicelines as you say neither are really reliable BUT they do give us some insight on to her character even if we should take it with a grain of a salt.
I'm glad she knows not to let her guard down around Arlecchino. When she showed up after the flood in Poisson, I was like ??!!! I still can't wrap my head around how she forgave Clorinde, though.

Arly was still very essential to Fontaine's plot though, she was the first person to realize furina is not the archon + told traveler about the ruins that show the stages of the prophecy which in turn made us bring furina to the trial
Literally, My friend is Navia while I’m Clorinde (I have hair like Clorinde and wear black and gothic clothes like her!!🖤💜 while my friend has lighter hair and wears light colors!!) She shut me out because I suddenly vented out at her and I was a possessive friend. I was yearning for her. In a while, we reconciled, but still strained and she told me to not be besties. After a while, she still didn’t want to be besties and she feels like she still needs to protect herself which pissed me off. She had acted rude to me a couple times. We’re on much better terms now, but I still feel like usually constantly walking on eggshells around her like Navia said in her voice line!!! I use that term A LOT. I always think about my friend. When I heard Navia say ‘walking on eggshells’ my enthusiasm lit up and I was like “I say those words all the time!!! Especially about my friend!!!”

The only one which makes her feel out of character is Clorinde. It's clear they made it intentionally for the kids to ship them. Anyway, I love this girl. It's so well-written if we look pass her forced friendship with Clorinde.
I mean, they were literally very close childhood friends who got distant since a very sensitive incident (said friend had to kill her father), so I think it makes sense for them to feel weird like this. There's this ship and stuff, but mostly I can understand why Clorinde is not a light topic for Navia. Also if you think about it, the way she speaks of Neuvillette is quite similar; it's just hard for her to talk about things related to her father
I see their relationship more as a sisterly thing. Like they were as close as sisters but then grew apart due to what happened to her father. I think of it like that because I personally think Clorinde is around Wrio's age which would make her more like an elder sister to Navia.

Childe and Scara are literally not reliable sources of information. I've mentioned this way too many times so you get the tldr version. Childe is a terrible judge of character he actually trusts the Rooster with his family. most of his judgement is based off of biased. ( since you want to bring up scaramouche even he mocks him for being a super dense and unable to notice manipulated. However you're telling me he's somehow managed to clock on someone who is meant to be more manipulative and a wolf in sheep's clothing) Scara himself has said that he naturally sees the worst in people hell it took him a long ass time to trust Nahida. I think Arlecchino is on the more "good" side. Like a Mafia boss of sorts who cares for the community but less than their own "family" and anyone who isn't apart of either she doesn't care about. I do believe(even as someone who loves her) is putting on a mask in front of the Traveller and her "children" but not in a bad way.
Like she's hiding her true self from her "children" because she cares about them and the Traveller because well. The Traveller is one of the main reasons behind Signoras death AND because they're dangerous given they've fought the Electro Archon twice and lived, Fought against 2(3) Harbingers and won, fought against two dragons(that might be sovereigns) and survived, fought against a narwhal that could've destroyed Fontaine and is possible as strong as a Sovereign etc etc. So Arlecchino is playing it safe with the Traveller only showing them her good side given how unpredictable they can be.
Rant aside, Arlecchino does have a more crazy side 100% but she's not showing the Traveller her crazy side because she finds it more profitable for herself to be on friendly terms with them. I'm guessing we'll see her true self in 4.6~ which is rumoured to be the update she becomes playable AND the update where we might fight her. As per why we might fight her, I'm unsure because I don't think she'll throw her plans out the window and randomly fight them, so possibly given we're going to Natlan and we might fight Murata and Capitano it's a test to see if we can? IDK.
As per Childes and Scaramouche's voicelines as you say neither are really reliable BUT they do give us some insight on to her character even if we should take it with a grain of a salt.
I'm glad she knows not to let her guard down around Arlecchino. When she showed up after the flood in Poisson, I was like ??!!!
I still can't wrap my head around how she forgave Clorinde, though.

Arly was still very essential to Fontaine's plot though, she was the first person to realize furina is not the archon + told traveler about the ruins that show the stages of the prophecy which in turn made us bring furina to the trial

Literally, My friend is Navia while I’m Clorinde (I have hair like Clorinde and wear black and gothic clothes like her!!🖤💜 while my friend has lighter hair and wears light colors!!) She shut me out because I suddenly vented out at her and I was a possessive friend. I was yearning for her. In a while, we reconciled, but still strained and she told me to not be besties. After a while, she still didn’t want to be besties and she feels like she still needs to protect herself which pissed me off. She had acted rude to me a couple times. We’re on much better terms now, but I still feel like usually constantly walking on eggshells around her like Navia said in her voice line!!! I use that term A LOT. I always think about my friend. When I heard Navia say ‘walking on eggshells’ my enthusiasm lit up and I was like “I say those words all the time!!! Especially about my friend!!!”

The only one which makes her feel out of character is Clorinde. It's clear they made it intentionally for the kids to ship them.
Anyway, I love this girl. It's so well-written if we look pass her forced friendship with Clorinde.
I mean, they were literally very close childhood friends who got distant since a very sensitive incident (said friend had to kill her father), so I think it makes sense for them to feel weird like this. There's this ship and stuff, but mostly I can understand why Clorinde is not a light topic for Navia. Also if you think about it, the way she speaks of Neuvillette is quite similar; it's just hard for her to talk about things related to her father
I see their relationship more as a sisterly thing. Like they were as close as sisters but then grew apart due to what happened to her father. I think of it like that because I personally think Clorinde is around Wrio's age which would make her more like an elder sister to Navia.

Hence it doesn't really feel forced, in fact I love that playable characters have some relationships between them, makes the game feel more refreshing to me. I don't particularly enjoy characters that don't feel integrated into the game's society (except when there's a lore reason for that, like Xiao or Shenhe)

Childe is a terrible judge of character he actually trusts the Rooster with his family. most of his judgement is based off of biased. ( since you want to bring up scaramouche even he mocks him for being a super dense and unable to notice manipulated. However you're telling me he's somehow managed to clock on someone who is meant to be more manipulative and a wolf in sheep's clothing)
Scara himself has said that he naturally sees the worst in people hell it took him a long ass time to trust Nahida. ( and she's about a suspicious as a sleeping puppy)
As for attacking Furina she is a harbinger they are meant to get the Gnosis it's not like Childe or any other harbinger wouldn't have done the same in that situation
