@nancydublin3315 the show is beautiful and the characters are so dynamic and interesting. If you’re hungry for more content check out the podcast as well. It’s an interesting listen.
I actually waited for all the episodes to be released so I could watch it all in one time. But now I understand that the network doesn’t look at overall views but per week. I feel really bad😔
Season 3 if it happens. I bet Bertha is going to regret pushing her daughter to the Duke. Her husband won’t be happy bankrolling the Duke. I want Marion and Larry to marry. I think they are just great together. Ada and Agnes dynamic is changing.
The Duke is kind of creepy to me. I'm sure they have cast it that way. I'm sure George will put his foot down. It will be interesting to see how Bertha reacts when her family goes against her plan. She is a survivor.
Do you think The Gilded Age will get renewed for a Season 3? When looking at those viewing figures, it doesn't look promising - but we can hope! Let me know your thoughts below!
I hope so, but the season finale had a feel of a series finale. Everyone's position was improved, except for Gladys--and her father, who seemed to be concerned.
I suppose those viewing figures are not actual. The show is very popular outside US as well. When I was on my plane from Australia, they were entertaining the passengers with Gilded Age series.
All entirely depends on whether HBO thinks the ratings / viewership / streaming stats they got are worth the costs. If it doesn't, then I do like the season 2 finale as the series finale - it ends at a good spot for everyone.
If it doesn't come back I think the cost would be the reason. The cost of the costumes has to be huge! The last episode tied up most of the things I wanted but I'm sure I'm in the minority. The show has a bunch of social media people talking about it which should enter into the decision as well. Some shows just don't last more than 2 seasons and they leave people upset. People get hung up on the characters and just don't want them to go. You want long running shoes, watch Midsomer Murders. It's got 24 seasons, albeit only 6 or 8 episodes.
I really hope we get a season 3! Thank you for breaking this show down each week. You made a great point about Oscar not being around. I did have the thought he might flea or try to hurt himself .
With a division between the Russel’s, you also had it where Mr. Russel promised Gladys that if she really loved someone he would let her marry him (or something along those lines), which this marriage with the Duke would break.
I will be so sad if this doesn't get renewed, this season was even better than the last! If you're interested in the history of the era a lot of the plot points were a bit predictable(dollar princesses, Brooklyn bridge, will the Metropolitan open successfully?) but I also applaud their attempts at accuracy. I feel like a couple more episodes per season would have given certain beats - like Luke Forte's illness / death and Peggy and the black community saving the schools a little more space to breathe and made them more impactful. Things feel a bit rushed to wrap up plot points in the last episodes. I think in general it was nice to see Peggy given more of a life away from the Van Ryn's and the ending with our Larion kiss was just what we were waiting for!
I so want a third season! I will re-watch the first two until the hire season comes along. Happy for Peggy having the guts to move on. Dashiell was a great character, a roper gentleman and would have been a ood husband for Marion, but Larry is much better suited for her and I want to see that play out. Fingers crossed for Season Three!
Peggy was smart to get out of the relationship with Thomas Fortune. Fortune was based on a real historical character of his name. He did wonderful things for human rights. He was a trail blazer. However, he was married at the time and unfortunately later on in life succumbed to severe alcoholism. Who knows, maybe Peggy could have been just what he needed had the timing been different.
I am definitely one of the people who preferred season 2. I think it's because we just got to know more about the characters. I also really hope we get to see the people who swindled Oscar if we get further seasons. I just really wanna see him get some justice. Even if the money can't be brought back.
I really, really, really hope that Julian Fellows will take the high road, and doesn’t mirror Consuelo Vanderbilts fate for Gladys. Frankly Gladys deserves a better fate than that, and George really loves his daughter. Hopefully he’ll figure out Bertha’s intentions quickly, and put a stop to her ambitions. I first had sympathies with Bertha’s ambitions, but she’s not very subtle, and with the Dukes storyline, she’s gone too far. She actually is pretty callous when it comes to Gladys, she’s nicer to her housekeeper, which is sad. But I do believe in George, and that he’ll save day. As for Season Three, who knows? But I’m really invested in this show, and hope that it will continue. One minor point in the finale that was curious. Did anyone notice that Agnes, for the first time, actually looked pretty when going to the Academy? The humanization of Agnes would be a great plot line, and even better, wouldn’t it be amazing if she actually found true love?
I don’t think you can judge the ratings because people like to wait until the whole season is completed Yeah, there were some mistakes the predictability, Mrs. Turner when they should’ve had Mrs. Morris etc but I think they’re going to continue it
I agree with the young lady who stated if it doesn’t come back she will watch it over and over again… I think this is a great show and should be further invested in because it brings back the gilded age and what happened to it because society wanted to be better!
I think the Russells will be perfectly happy to have Marion as a daughter-in-law. When word gets out that she will most likely be a textile heiress, they could possibly have any objections.
I absolutely love Gilded Age. It's so refreshing to watch a luscious, enjoyable drama that has not been written in a woke way. The stories are fabulous, costumes gorgeous and as soon as the music starts I feel good in anticipation. I so hope season 3 is written by the wonderful Julian Fellowes. It would be great if they somehow tied it in with Downton Abbey re the American heiress. There are so many ways we can look forward to the characters and story lines being developed and I was pleased to see Marian kiss the lovely son of Mrs Russell, which we did want. I've watched season 1 three times and season 2 will be watched again.
I think for Season 2 they should have had the widowed Mrs. Morris marry Mr. Winterton and hire Turner as her ladies maid. That would have made a formidable enemy for Bertha and would definitely have alarmed her. It also would have been more believable as Mrs. Morris was the same class as Mr. Winterton.
That would be a great story line! I like the direction, revenge! Turner is not equal to Bertha in conning. I know it not going to happen but I would love to see Ms Chainberlin(not sure of the spelling) That would be a great story line.
In the UK they should have sold the show to ITV, a free channel - the same that Downton was on, rather than Sky Atlantic, particularly as the show appeals to an older viewer who can't be bothered with surfing through hundreds of channels on Sky.
Season 3 is coming, and I am afraid that we may be set up for a Consuelo Vanderbilt plot. Consuelo was a socialite whose mother pushed her into a loveless marriage with a Duke. Consuelo almost killed herself and was miserable until the guy died. I was afraid they were going to pull this with Gladys and Oscar and breathed a sigh of relief until I saw the Season 2 finale. 😮😢
I really do hope they renew this for a third season. It is one of the VERY FEW intellectual shows on TV today. Most shows I get bored with within 3 episodes or am seriously disappointed with the second season.
I sadly feel this show will not be renewed due to the expense of the costumes and actors. Maybe the Max may consider a third season to tie up loose ends and give us a time jump towards 1890 With the Duke storyline we could see a younger Lord Grantham being introduced to a younger CoraLeavstein. With Miriam and Larry there is so much potential for great modern storyline around education and the great artists and architects of the time period and new money from inventions such as the alarm clocks which will make both Miriam and Larry independently wealthy along with both aunt Agnes who gave young Jack money. I really enjoyed the storyline of Peggy and her family and the Colored elite which i did not really know much about. Another channel should pickup the show from MAX if they wont renewal the Guilded Age
Not everyone has max, downton Abby was on public channel wttw so a lot of people that can't afford cable or streaming saw it that way. I hope still a season 3
I think season 2 started out slow but the last 2 episodes were fantastic and the last with the opera house and the wardrobe was amazing. They should start season 3 with the same momentum they left off with this show is growing better its gaining its footing now Ihope they bring it back I love it!!
I want a season 3, but if this is it…I’m happy! I loved everything about the season 2 ending. In my mind Larry and Marion lived happily ever after! I really want to see the Ada and Agnes new dynamic play out, I want John to make millions from his clock patent! AND I want Mrs. drama loving Fish to get more lines per episode.
read the email Max sent out to prior to season finale. They called it the “grand finale.” Doesn’t bode well. So I will make up my own endings for all the characters, and I expect it will be better than what Julian would think of so there.
Oh this was 4 weeks ago. Season 3 has been announced now :) I only just finished bingeing because it was only just released in Australia on Paramount +. It will be interesting to see how well it does on Paramount +. Maybe that’s why they have announced season 3 to boost international streaming numbers. I really hope we get many more episodes. I think we will see more of Frances and Dashiel with more focus on Frances seeing Marion as a mentor and mother figure which may cause conflict with Dashiel’s new relationship. Marion and Larry will have some ups and downs but they are well suited. I just hope they don’t rush into anything. I hope Oscar finds out the truth about their good fortune before he does something drastic. So looking forward to a season 3!
If the real-life counterparts are any indication: Gladys will be pressured to become a "dollar princess" with a marriage to the Duke, which will cause friction in the marriage of the Russells (Consuelo Vanderbilt would marry the Duke, but after years of marriage and two sons, they would divorce; her parents would eventually divorce as the wife would become part of the Suffragette Movement). Though it was expected, the sudden change in fortune of Ada Brook-Forte will mean that Marion will now be an heiress (since she and her aunt have always been so close), and that change in status will play into a new storyline (before, Marion was a young woman from a good family, but not with a fortune; now that there is a fortune, she will be an heiress and might be pursued which will complicate the Marion-Larry storyline). And Peggy will continue to pursue journalism (on the model of Ida Wells) which will lead to other adventures, becoming one of the first of the "muckraking" journalists.
For Season 3, I think it would be interesting to see how Agnes handles the fact she is now a 'new money' family, as Rev Forte's money is considered 'new money'. She has been a starch opponent of the new money influences on New York society.
I want a third season! Julian Fellows knows history, probably a bit better than the average American viewer, and he knows that an economic contraction is about to take place (1883-1887) followed by a major one starting in 1893. That might actually destroy the Russell's. Will we see Hetty Green, who bailed out a number of NY banks?
I wondered if Gladys new French helper will be coming back in the next series. There was a brief shot of her putting Glady’s jewels back in a box. I wondered if it was a glimpse of what she may do with the family jewels.
Julian Fellowes doesn't need the money or the acclaim but he does seek it for his actors. As such, he's sitting back and waiting out the renewal all the while ready to go with another season. He did this Downton Abbey and the Titanic miniseries - with his portfolio of storylines that are re-appearing albeit morphed slightly. "Larian" could well be the Mary and Matthew - just hope neither actor wants out to spin a tragedy within the plot. There's SO much left for exploring and Fellowes seems to enjoy throwing a lot of plot twists into the air and watch how they shake out with public response. "Larian" will almost certainly continue - I hope positively - yet there's a wide realm of possibilities for plot there. Jack and Larry pairing up with Marian having fostered it suggests a great wealth of more combined scenes with all three. Honestly, these 3 are the LIGHT of the series. The Mrs. Bruce and Borden romance is just another Hughes and Carson moving ahead far faster and earlier in this series. Fellowes is working into the plot lines the AMERICAN aspect or twist on those familiar storylines - the Aristocracy is downplayed and in some plots downright mocked in this series. While it is appropriate even the differences in history and culture, I wonder how much more Fellowes will weave. That Robert Sean Leonard was only part of a season was a huge shame - as usual he brings so much to a series. However, it does suggest that Fellowes only needed the plot line to elevate Ada and thwart the sister relationship. Bannister clarifying to recognize the shift in power was a subtle and brilliant addition to the final moments of the episode. Fellowes has definite set up the shenanigans to be the background pulse of the show between Agnes and Ada. Woohoo! Finally, the Peggy plot lines fell flat despite the admirable attempts to recognize significant history of race relations. Played more as soap opera of will she or won't she have affair with Fortune who ends up looking like a cad when we get a glimpse of the wife and baby. So much to talk about and hope to enjoy more seasons of this series. Come on after all - Fellowes had our full attention with summer cottages of Newport! I would be terribly surprised if this series dies; it is such a winner. "Television" audience stats are an unfair way to dictate popularity - despite that HBO is spoon feeding the shows on a rigid schedule (can't binge watch a series drop like Netflix did with the Crown). Personally. I would prefer to bingewatch as each episode has its own little cliffhanger - WELL DONE Julian Fellowes!
Bertha might not accept Marian as Marian is not as ambitious as she is. But if she did accept, it's probably to strengthen her position among the old money as Marian has always been her savior, giving her information that helped her to be victorious.
Nah for her only her daughter is a tool into society. Larry is fine as long as he marries someone young who can produce heirs to his father's business and like you said Marian being old money blood will be really valuable to Bertha. An old money daughter in law is all she needs after the Duke son in law.
The Gilded Age season 2 was the number one series on HBO for the entirety of its run. Each episode was the number one watched show on HBO Max every single week. As far as HBO complaining about the cost of the programming, I have just one thing to say. If you want people to pay to subscribe, you've got to give them something special. The Gilded Age is something special
Season 3 predictions: Gladys Russell will be forced to marry the Duke! George and Bertha will divorce. Oscar will find a way to get the Van Rhijn money back.
I am obsessed with this show. So interesting. Russell’s were portraying Vanderbilts, Mrs. Astor, herself. McCallister himself. There is plenty of history to explore. In a nutshell, Mrs. Astor came from certain, up not extraordinary wealth. She was not permitted a good modern education, it one that would prepare her to be a good wife. She married well and had children. She had a bad marriage with considerable infidelity by her husband. She succumbed to dementia later in life and fell out of society. McCallister was hired by her to tutor her daughter to prepare her for society. You know he was two faced. He actually wrote a scandalous tell all book about his life with the rich, it left out Astor. He was drummed out of society and died alone. As for the Vanderbilt’s, there seems to be some truth in the plot line with the Duke. You can find info on this subject matter on UA-cam. I hope that the info presented was not incorrect or fake.
BTW. Spoiler alert. If this is true to history, and the Russell’s represent the Vanderbilts, Bertha will be successful marrying off her daughter to the Duke, against her interests, but marriage won’t last.
Plot twist : the Duke is actually broke and his visit to America was really to cherry pick a rich American . He needs someone rich enough to save his decaying estate back home . Its something that happen in history and would definitely add some extra tension between Bertha and George
Totally , he even told Bertha he had more to gain by siding with her ( money ) . Gladys gets to be a duchess and the Duke gets money , it happened in the past with real life heiress
😂this isn't plot twist at allllll... it's explained in the finale tf.. also this is people's prediction since before the show was even aired.. since it's the plot of Downton Abbey too
OK Im in Europe I have access to UK TV,,, I've not seen any news that Season Two is available here Much longed for I assure you... Anyone have any news...where and How I can watch it? PLEASE!!!!
I really enjoyed this show for its costumes and sets but never felt much for the individual characters. The finale wrapped up what could have been cliffhangers... I predict it will not be renewed, unfortunately.
Dashiel put Marion on the spot in front of all those people deliberately so she couldn't say no. I lost my respect for him right there so I'm glad she called it off. Of course they'll be a season 3, there's too much to yet be told. I love this show.
I think suicide is possible for Oscar, but that would be a real downer for the opening of season3. On the other hand he could go the redemption route by helping Jack and Larry begin their new alarm clock company. It will also be interesting to see if all the staff plus Agnes put in money so Jack could get his patent and he said he wouldn't forget it... So will they become share holders in the new company. I hope Gladys is able to get out of being forced to marry the Duke with her father's help, even if it creates a serious breech between he and Bertha. And yeah, Marian and Larry will eventually marry unless some disaster parts them forever, the pairing is too natural, too right, to end any other way than a long happily ever after marriage.
Hopefully HBO will look at the long term success of Downton Abbey as Julian Fellowes is a bankable name. In case GA isn't renewed for a third season, it's ok with me. We know the Russells portray the Vanderbilts. Alva arranged the marriage of her daughter Consuelo to the Duke of Marlborough which was annulled after their divorce of twenty something years.
I like Bartha but if she does end up focusing her daughter to marry the Duke and George ends up divorcing her and her kids don’t speak to her I would not blame them or have any sympathy for her. I understand that she ambitious but there has to be a point where the price is to high and selling your daughter crosses a major line that’s the point of no return. I’m glad that Ada married and had a few episodes of happiness and now she gonna get to experience what it’s like to be her sister equal not just someone who has to rely on her sister good will. I thought it was nice that Peggy father is starting to show his not this one dimensional it’s my way or the highway jerk.
GOOD NEWS! THE GILDED AGE HAS BEEN RENEWED FOR A SEASON 3!! 🎉🥳
🎉🎉 love that it got renewed . i started watching it cos i kept seeing it on your channel, i got curious. and ended up loving it
I need this show to come back! I need to see aunt Aida in all of her bougie glory! 🙌😂
Same !
Yesss I can’t wait to see the power change
I hope we get a season 3 but if we don’t I’ll be rewatching the first 2 again and again. I really enjoyed this show.
Me too! Watched finale (4) times!!

@nancydublin3315 the show is beautiful and the characters are so dynamic and interesting. If you’re hungry for more content check out the podcast as well. It’s an interesting listen.
I counted minutes from Sunday to Sunday in a wait for a new episode! This show is a gem! Please give us season 3🙏🏻

I actually waited for all the episodes to be released so I could watch it all in one time.

Season 3 if it happens. I bet Bertha is going to regret pushing her daughter to the Duke. Her husband won’t be happy bankrolling the Duke. I want Marion and Larry to marry. I think they are just great together. Ada and Agnes dynamic is changing.
George is going to have a fallout with Bertha, because he promised their daughter he will only accept the person she falls in love with.
The Duke is kind of creepy to me. I'm sure they have cast it that way. I'm sure George will put his foot down. It will be interesting to see how Bertha reacts when her family goes against her plan. She is a survivor.
Watch a Consuelo Vanderbilt doc for clues on their relationship.
Not sure. Viewership went down in second season and it is rare that HBO considers plain old enthusiasm of actual viewers.

There has to be a season three! I'm here for Marian and Larry!!
I hope so!
I hope that’s the endgame and that Peggy finds a man who’s worthy of her.
I love Gilded, as much as I loved Downton Abby
For me even more so!
I liked Downton Abbey, however I'm obsessed with the Guilded Age. So many turns and twists, beautiful costumes, and lavish decors!
I really hope we get a season 3! Thank you for breaking this show down each week. You made a great point about Oscar not being around. I did have the thought he might flea or try to hurt himself .
I’m worried about that as well😢
With a division between the Russel’s, you also had it where Mr. Russel promised Gladys that if she really loved someone he would let her marry him (or something along those lines), which this marriage with the Duke would break.

Dashiell was a great character, a roper gentleman and would have been a ood husband for Marion, but Larry is much better suited for her and I want to see that play out. Fingers crossed for Season Three!
A bonus of Ada having the money now is that Oscar could stay a bachelor / stay with John Adams.
I hope the viewing numbers were there for hbo to renew for a third season. This is an exceptional show.
I can't believe they renewed "And Just Like That" but not "The Gilded Age".
Peggy is loosely based on Ida B Wells. She had an incredible life and was a trail blazer. I don’t think we have to worry about Peggy’s direction.

Season 3 being the finale season is perfect. Please hbo just one more season
We need a season 3 because we need for them to introduce the Vanderbilts 😊
I think that the Russells are based on the Vanderbilts
@@StephRaina according to history there really was a family called the Russells so it's still too early to introduce the Vanderbilts 🤗
I want S10 till th link Cora Levinson aka Mrs Crawley to The Gilded Age and a crossover to Downton Abbey. That will be soooo good :)
She should be a teenager at the times of the giled age I guess. I thought that too, I want to see a teenager named Cora.
For Season 3, I think it would be interesting to see how Agnes handles the fact she is now a 'new money' family, as Rev Forte's money is considered 'new money'. She has been a starch opponent of the new money influences on New York society.
Oh I do hope it is renewed!!!!! Love this show. I PVR it so as not to miss a single episode!
Oh I can’t believe they are not going to renew it! I absolutely love it!
It’s been announced that its been renewed!
I'm cancelling my Max subscription until the show is renewed.
I wondered if Gladys new French helper will be coming back in the next series. There was a brief shot of her putting Glady’s jewels back in a box. I wondered if it was a glimpse of what she may do with the family jewels.
It was amazing
Please, please, please, renew this show! I love the characters, and the writing!
It got renewed!
With Ada in charge, I'm hoping that they'll be a whole bunch of white paint & gilding so that the house won't look like a dark dungeon anymore
WE NEED A SEASON 3!!!
Omg we need more seasons
Let's hope it gets renewed!
Definitely do season 3 there's allota history going 3🙂
The Gilded Age season 2 was the number one series on HBO for the entirety of its run. Each episode was the number one watched show on HBO Max every single week. As far as HBO complaining about the cost of the programming, I have just one thing to say. If you want people to pay to subscribe, you've got to give them something special. The Gilded Age is something special
So true!
Agnes is going to hate not being in control but I still wished that Luke haded live a little bit longer 😢😢
I can’t wait for season 3 to be made and broadcast. The finale of season 2 was excellent 🤴🥳👏
I hope it does get commissioned!
Season 3 predictions: Gladys Russell will be forced to marry the Duke! George and Bertha will divorce. Oscar will find a way to get the Van Rhijn money back.
It was be a very expensive show to produce! The clothing the women wear is so beautiful . I enjoy the show.
I love this show . We deserve at least one final season
We really do!
@@yuigirl2 exactly!
😂this isn't plot twist at allllll... it's explained in the finale tf..
also this is people's prediction since before the show was even aired.. since it's the plot of Downton Abbey too
Season 3 please
Let's hope so!
cant wait to see Jacks rags to riches plotline continue
The show is 4th top in HBO as of December 19.
If HBO doesn't want the Gilded Age, I know everyone at PBS will love it!! Just like they did Downton Abbey.
season 3 going to be so awesome Aunty Ada is the lady of the house hahahahaha
I could see Bertha telling Larry that she liked Marion, but going behind both of their backs to sabotage her.
OK Im in Europe I have access to UK TV,,, I've not seen any news that Season Two is available here Much longed for I assure you...
Anyone have any news...where and How I can watch it?
PLEASE!!!!
Don’t forget there was a writer strike so that might have been the reason why they didn’t announce season three yet
Let's hope so!
Someone needs to tell the producers to do something about the lightning. Some scenes are so dark you can't see the actors.
Another production company should pick this up if HBO cancels it
I love the show but waiting all week till Sunday comes on when the game comes on
When will we know if there is a season 3
Let's hope Larry has gotten the horn dog out of his system so he doesn't hurt Marian.
What are they waiting for????? Instead of the other crap on TV renew the show already. I am still waiting on Bridgeton as well😳
At least we know that Bridgerton is coming next year!
I am so sad :( I am a new member of HBO only for this show..
