Al's supple phrasing -- and trademark enthusiasm -- make this side a real winner! The ensemble work is splendid, and Billy Harty's accents are a delight, as always.
A deceptively difficult song to sing - but Al makes it sound so easy - on top of which he injects his infectious personality into the number. This is yet another example. of how great a vocalist Al Bowlly was . . . and is.
Hi Nick, You've done a really good job with this, and it deserves the treatment. Very unusual for the period, Al getting 2 full choruses of a really smart lyric. Hope all is well with you.
Thanks very much for your comment...much appreciated. I sent you an email in June to give you an up-date on the HB article (which is now approaching first draft). Did you get the email? Please can you contact me (my email address is the same as before), thanks.
How delightful to hear Al singing so relaxed here. I love the opening!

Thanks for posting, Nick. A great side; this one has eluded me over the last 50 years of collecting!
Your website has been very valuable for my research, and for that I thank you most sincerely.

Amazing!
Wow great, not heard this one before….. now I’m jealous 🫤🫤
This makes for a really interesting
"Across The Pond" comparison with the Bennie Moten recording.
Very different from the Piccadilly version..
