Amazing work, my dear! Now why people are comparing this to Lovecraft and saying it's better, I wonder? Please just stop this ego's fight, there's no use for it. And for me this tale feels more like a romance at first, all the details he gives about him and how he feels to that woman and life, than a horror one, actually. Anyway I enjoyed and thank you for your amazing reading and thank you Alan Moore too, for writting Providence and give us sooooooooooooo many references to amazing works like this!
I disagree. Just different styles. Lovecraft doesn't care for characters. Just horror. Here 30 of the 50 minutes are spent on a love story. Why would Lovecraft waste pages on that?
Frank, can you recommend some authors for me? You sound maybe like a kindred spirit...and I've already consumed all of the classic horror & sci if that's in the average persons scope. Any ideas? I must read or die! I just read all of the "Discworld" cannon & enjoyed. But Pratchett always has things turn out well....and I need to be aghast again for a bit, lol.
Excellent and timeless. This story hardly shows it's age at all.
Robert W Chambers: The King In Yellow, and Oscar Wilde: The Picture Of Dorian Gray are amongst my absolute favorite horror novels.
Woe to he who is crowned with the crown of the King in Yellow!
read this in the horror hall of fame and it was my favorite story in there.
Thank you for this!
Fantastic. I thought this would show its age a lot but, this is still a great story to hear for the first time.
Racist alt-right scumbags have no place here.
One of the greatest horror stories.

@OnceTheyNamedMEiWasn't I'm honored, thanks!
My favorite horror story.
This is about three levels above Lovecraft's writing.
So yeah
And one level below Clark Ashton Smith.

Lovecraft brought me here #Yellow
"Sea Oak" not OakS
She got a little silly
Not as good as Lovecraft, but still excellent in it's own way
Chambers's King in Yellow stories are AT LEAST as good as a lot of Lovecraft stories. Lovecraft owes Chambers a lot.
OMG but so Right!!!!!
But prolly just means John Doe has read the highlights, and not the cannon of both.
EXACTLY.
