Thanks for the video!! It was very helpful. Ordered directly on the phone with GE and had the part in 3 days. It was quick and easy to replace since I watched your video.
No problem, after fixing it. The compressor went out on me. So I end up buying a new refrigerator. I still have the new motherboard for this repair. If you’re interested. Send me a message via email. I didn’t want to throw it out because I just bought the part.
Thank you for posting this video!!! I have a similar GE Profile that had the same issue. I just received my board today, followed your very clear instructions and had it done in 20 minutes. Without your help, I surely would have had to make a service appointment, costing another couple hundred $$. Thanks DIY RAY, you are the man!!!
Thank you. My manual showed two screws on older models but nothing about when there are no screws. You saved the day. I repaired the paddle switch which required removing the control panel and funnel.
Thank YOU!!! This was very simple with how you broke it down! Your video just saved me a $400 service charged for something that would have taken them 5 minutes max!
I am having this problem right now, I just get the logo upon first plug in and then display turns off and completely no response afterwards not just on the LCD but the entire controls upfront. Water doesn't dispense, no buttons are working. no lights on the control panel. but the fridge works though. I'm gonna try replacing this and update if that fixes things.
How much was the board and where did you buy it? Ours is the same model and the water will turn on by itself so I'm thinking it's the board gone bad. Would that be your guess also on it? Or is there just a paddle switch that could make it come on by itself? Anybody know?
Thanks for taking the time to make this. My GE profile french door refrigerator had the same issue and I was able to switch the control board in less than 10 mins thanks to your video. Pro Tip: if you use an iPhone to take a picture of the QR code on the model label inside the fridge it will offer up a link to the GE page with manuals and parts for sale. This is how I bought my replacement control board.
Ray that piece you bent up on the board still stay on it and is just bent up underneath it or what? Or does the whole piece come off and no longer attached to it?
Ours is the same refrigerator and the water or ice will just start coming out without touching anything. Does anybody know if it's the LCD board that would be causing this or something else? Any help would be appreciated. Also, best place to order the parts from? How much was that panel Ray and where did you get it from?
I put the part # in the video. Please watch the video for that information. I believe it’s at the 1min make. Thanks for the feedback and please remember to subscribe to the channel and like the video.
Ray, thanks for making this video! I used it to replace the touchscreen on my GE Cafe french door refrigerator. The original screen lasted only about 2 years... The only trick I encountered was GE's hex screws holding the board in place. I had to search my screwdrivers to find one that worked. After that, it was a breeze.
david berg I’m glad you found this video helpful. The Circuit board is expensive enough. Getting tax again for a simple job from service repair would really sucked. Thanks for the feedback and please remember to subscribe to the channel.
I recently replace my refrigerator because the compressor went bad. So I really can't answer that question. I did take out the LCD board for the refrigerator because It was only a year old. I will be selling it on Ebay.
Hi Ray, how do I remove the spring behind the water dispensing vertical steel plate. When I try to fill a glass in manual mode, I push the vertical steel plate. The plate doesn't retract back when I remove the pushing force. I have to pull it manually using my nails. I guess the spring lost its tension strength.
I have no idea, I haven’t had that problem with my unit. Sorry that I couldn’t answer the question. Thanks for the feedback and please remember to subscribe to the channel and like the video.
Mine too just after I replaced the filter, the screen is still on but non responsive to the touch. So i am thinking to take it a part just to check if any connector got loose before ordering a new part.
Thanks so much! This fixed our issue with the touch screen not responding. Quick and easy replacement.
Thank you very much. I need to do the exact same thing.
Absolutely great instructions and easy to follow. Worked like a charm. Thank you!

Try cleaning the switch with alcohol and compressed air.

Awesome, thanks! I must have missed that the first time watching.
Do you know if this will work if my screen is lit up and LOOKS just fine but it doest not recognize "touch" so nothing can be selected on it?

@@jeanmaraval8324 Just unplug the refrigerator. Let it reset itself. That should fix the problem when the touch is unresponsive. Hope that helps.
