    Any day above ground is a good day... that far above ground, in that aircraft, you must have had a GREAT day! 😃 👍
    Thanks for the video.

    Let me give you some advice. I also fly, powered by Rotax. When you burp your engine during your DI, your oil is cold and viscous. The colder it is, the more time and effort you will need to put into turning the prop before you hear that gurgle.
    If you get into the habit of burping it soon after shutdown, whilst the engine is still warm, the oil is thinner and you will pump all the oil into the reservoir much quicker. When you next do a DI in the morning, you will pull through a couple of blades and get the burp almost immediately because the vast majority of the oil is already up in the reservoir.
    I've been doing this for quite a while, now. It saves me a lot of time, especially on cold Scottish Winter mornings.
    I have checked with a Rotax-certified engineer that this procedure is acceptable and the only caveat is that you MUST still burp it during your preflight because that will eliminate any chance of you cranking the engine when it might have fluid in the cylinders which would lead to hydraulic lock but burping it post-flight will save you time and effort in burping it, pre-flight.
    Try it and you will see what I mean.

      Thanks! That sounds great for pilots flying their own airplanes. But in the club I would have to convince the pilot flying before me to do it.🤔

      @@flying-squirrel-SK - Easier for owner-pilots, sure. One way to convince others to do it for you is to do it for them and point out what you have done and when they realise just how much easier you have made their DI, they might be more inclined to return the favour and you might be able to get this to be fairly standard practice among your club-members. Perhaps I am being a little too optimistic, here?
      I've suggested it to a couple of the owner-pilots at my home airfield and since they saw how much easier it is, they've started doing it.

    Nice. BTW, when you burp the oil in the Rotax, make sure you keep turning until the second smaller burp happens.

    • @flying-squirrel-SK
      @flying-squirrel-SK  Рік тому

      Really? Is there any reason for it?

    • @halfrhovsquared
      @halfrhovsquared Рік тому +1

      I always ensure that I hear three distinct burps. The first big one and a couple of less dramatic ones.
      Also, a time-saving trick is to burp it POST-flight when the oil is less viscous. It's so much easier and then, In the morning pre-flight, it only takes a couple of pulls to get the burp because nearly all of the oil is already in the reservoir.

    Never hook a prop when turning it even if you know the mags are off also its not a radial. There's no need to pull through a flat 4

      On Rotax engines you have to if you want to measure the oil level.

      I depends on options mostly on avionics. The rear seat equipment can go from very basic to practically full copy of the front. My guess is around 200-250K EUR There is one used (2015 with 150 hours) now available in USA for 175k USD. www.controller.com/listing/for-sale/220234719/2015-shark-aero-sro-shark-ul-light-sport-aircraft

    Hey Sport I would defiantly NOT Hand move a prop like that! You are Too close to that prop, if that engine starts it will Bite you deep, you could Lose your hand or your leg, or both!
    Do get a professional to show you the proper technic in Prop Swinging.
    BIG DANGER. Always Always treat a propeller as LIVE.
    Because if the Earth Strap is fractured OR broken the propeller WILL Start the engine!
    Also the Mag Switch MAY have been left Switched On.
    Prevention is better than cure!
    Also the Glare on the instrument panel is Awful, I would Fit a none reflective glass to the panel.
    Otherwise what a Great looking aircraft, slick smooth and I would say Very fast. Say 160 kts !!!
    All the Best and happy landings always.

      This is Rotax engine where you have to pump the oil into the sump (in order to check the level) by rotating the engine. I obviously sped it up in the video for the fun effect and overdone it multiple times. Here is AOPA video showing it in real speed. ua-cam.com/video/Mdaf4xphhjQ/v-deo.html
