Condensing some of the tips from the comments again: 1) You can't get pigs until your barn is fully upgraded 2) Your pigs rate of finding truffles is based on happiness, so keeping them fed is good. They prefer wild grass to hay, buuut... 3) They CAN be fed off of long-grass in the field if you keep the door open, but there needs to be enough long grass on the farm that they can reach to feed them all. They eat through about 1 tile each per day, but it grows back overnight some of that. Not sure of rate on that. They also won't go out in the rain, so you need hay for those days. 4) Hay is expensive to buy from Marnie, might want to let LOTS of grass grow and just 'thin' it out with the scythe once you have a silo so that it's growing from multiple small sources into a large crop of it. 5) Coffee plants drop several beans and they are bouncy like a lot of berries. Be careful putting them near that pond. 6) Several stores close on Tuesday's while the ladies and doc do aerobics class. Marnie's closed on monday due to shopping 7) That tip on mushroom levels was awesome and useful. Also, only levels ending in '0' have the quick ladder down to the next floor from the elevator, so any time the elevator ends in '5', you're gonna have to dig for the ladder Good luck, and thanks for the content~!
Marnie is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (She exercises on Tues). The carpenter is closed on Tuesdays. I am amazed you have a 30+ year save and haven't noticed the business cycles of the various stores!
Harlequin314159 he never interacts with people. the issue is is that you actually get recipes and such from basically talking to them every so often and a year of Best presents. I'm working on max hearts on everyone. and it's really extended the play value for me. how he does the same thing forever and ever I can't understand.
I don't know about Monday, but on Tuesdays most women in town go to Caroline's place to work out together. So the carpenter shop and animal shop are closed for the day.
I love how after watching other youtuber playing this game, I watch you and you totally blow my expectations because you don't care about doing other things and spend a whole day collecting mushrooms XD love your videos man keep it up
I had no idea mushrooms were that valuable! I may try a run and change up fishing only and work at progression in the mines instead. This also has the benefit of tons of sprinklers early
As has been mentioned, pigs require the Deluxe Barn. Also, be sure to grow out your coffee beans. Every harvest gets you 4 beans, and you get a harvest every other day, so it doesn't take long to go from 2 plants to 200 to 2000. That said, you started so late in the season that you should probably not plant any past about the 10th of summer.
*sees the mushroom count at **1:20* *chokes on hamburger* Coffee is a decent crop, especially if you're not focusing mainly on farming. It takes ten days to grow and yields four beans per plant every two days- I heavily recommend that you immediately replant those (With speed-gro if possible) after every harvest, all the way up to Summer 16th. After the 16th, start saving the beans to brew coffee, and have some leftover for next year (or your greenhouse). Since you're in the Forest map and trying to get foraging XP- completing the bundle that gives you a Seed Maker (Specifically, the Dye Bundle on the Bulletin Board) would be a good idea. You can chuck those common mushrooms (the brown ones) into it and it'll yield fall seeds- that'll give you a bumper crop for the season which will yield you foraging experience. Unfortunately, that means you'll need a Duck Feather- but you can buy one of those from the Gypsy if you're lucky.
While coffee can be a good crop, it's pretty much worthless to grow coffee unless you plan on getting farming level 8. You need a keg to brew coffee and coffee beans by themselves sell for very little.
I'm not completely sure on this, but I think pigs needs to graze where wild grass grows (on farm-able land) to find truffles. So ideally, if you can move the barn to be on non-farming ground with farm-able ground in front growing wild grass, it should yield truffles. Also, in case you already didn't know, you can plant grass starters (bought from Pierre's) so that you don't have to wait for grass to grow into the zone (which I recommend fencing off with stone).
Re: Coffee beans: When grown they drop 4 beans every 2 days. if put into a keg (5 beans) they will, in quick order, become coffee which sells for 300g which is a HUGE profit as each bean sells for 15g base. Quality of bean doesnt affect coffee value so speed grow is the only worth while fertilizer
Love your videos, very fun to watch! One thing I noticed was that if you take bats over shrooms for the cave, picking fruit up off the ground counts as foraging since I've gotten the double procs off them before. Not sure if it's a better choice or not but certainly adds variety since mushrooms are pretty easy to find.
I don't know if it has alteady been mentioned but you get 30 wild seeds of each season for completing the foraging bundle of each season, wich are really easy to complete. Quite good to help leveling foraging, especially for winter.
I'm afraid he's likely to lose some of the coffee beans to the nearby pond since it is a bouncy harvest, although careful positioning (stand at max distance with the crop between you and the water) can mitigate this hazard.
The mushroom level goes up everyday not down, so if it is level 86 on the 23rd, it will be on floor 87 on the 24th. Also you can't buy pigs until you have a deluxe barn. Finally, both Marnie and Robin go to an aerobics class on Tuesday, that's why neither store is open, and Marnie goes shopping in at Pierre's Monday, so her shop isn't open then either.
Meranda Fairchild in this case up would be there lower number and down would be the higher number. this is because the levels are under ground. so going down one means going from 86 to 87. up would be the opposite.
That bitch Marnie is too fuckin lazy, she thinks just because she bangs Lewis so hard that he can't find his underwear she can get a free ride but I tell you what, when I become Mayor by ritualistically devouring Lewis' heart I am going to kick her into gear!
You can add super grow and rapid grow even after a seed is planted. You can't add fertilizer after, but you can add water retaining and speed grows on top of seeds.
Foraging skill is increased both by gathering foraged goods, and by wood from trees chopped with an axe tool. Each level adds +1 axe proficiency. Note: Stumps, saplings, and fallen timber do NOT increase skill.
Okay, here's what i know: Pigs can't be bought until you upgrade your barn to the Deluxe level (max upgrade) and you don't need wheat to feed them. They can eat the grass outside. But on winter, you'll need it to feed them since grass doesn't grow on this season.
The barn needs to be fully upgraded to get pigs ;) And Robin and Marine is doing some workout at Pierres with all thee other woman in town on tuesdays, and Marnies is getting suplies at Pierres on mondays ;)
You can cut the green bushes* of your farm with the cooper axe. that way you can create extra space on the green zones. (The one who produce salmoberrys & and the smaller ones)*
gotta say this layout seems actually appealing, I tried the mining one before my pc got busted and it didn't really add that much but this actually looks fun.
I believe how the feeding works is you don't Need to feed animals, but it does help with their happiness, which helps produce higher quality items. All the animals will live whether you feed them or not. so if you aren't too bothered with gold or silver level truffles, don't worry about it.
hey the coffee seeds dont sell for much and quality doesnt effect them at all when you put five in a keg. and i believe you get five seeds with each harvest
You can remove the bushes that are on your farm by using an axe (not sure of quality, I used steel when I found it out). The large ones can have berries but the tall ones are pretty useless and take up a good amount of space for fruit trees or machines.
The next barn upgrade costs 12000 gold and you can have sheep. If you upgrade it to the max you can have pigs. Also animals can eat grass (the type you can get from Pierre's) but if theres no grass animals cant eat so you should get a silo too.
To maximize the amount of foraging items that can spawn you need to clear out the rocks and sticks that spawn in the forest, all of these items take up available spawning spaces, if you routinely clear them out you will have more foraging items spawn in the open space.
I'm not sure if you know ,but i discovered that you can chop down the bushes that come with the forest farm . you dont get wood they just poof but y ou can get them out of your way at least
So from what I've seen of the other farms and me trying out the wilderness farm, the forest farm is the best new farm. The hilltop farm's ore rate is abysmal, the fishing farm uses river fish not mountain fish so the convenience is hardly there, and I get like 1 mob spawn every hour in the wilderness farm until like level 7 combat/fall.
I agree, having tried every farm except wilderness. The biggest con on the forest farm is that you can plant a very large crop only on the other side of the farm. The grass/foraging area is a good place to plant fruit trees if you want to utilize the space.
coffee beans only sell for 16g each i believe, and you get four per harvest. the profit is making 5 beans into coffee with the keg, and while the waiting time is pretty fast (1 game hour i think?) i think youre better off making wine or pale ale instead. also quality has no effect in the keg so quality fertilizer is virtually useless
It's an owl. Only the silhouette is ever shown in-game, but a coloured sprite set exists in the game files. "Owls are somewhat uncommon, and can only be seen at night (7:00pm-2:00am). They have been seen in all seasons.", says the wiki.
DF, you need to clear all those logs and weeds outside of the farm, especially in the forest to the south. You're making harvest runs, but you're failing to realise that harvestable goods can/will grow in those spots, but not if a log or weed is there instead. So get to it.
I just made this schedule on Reddit - it looks like it might be useful for you :-D www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/59v450/sdv_shop_schedules/ I need to make some fixes and edits for it, but in general everything is correct. I think I'm really just missing the days that people go for their check up at Harvey's, and I forgot to add the saloon. Hope you find it useful!
The coffee is indeed about triple the sell price of the beans it costs to make them. Though, it's easier just to keep the beans flowing than it is to brew it all, especially since DF skips days.
Just looked at the Wiki forage items also give 3 exp while the ones on your farm give 7 exp, so Hardwood Stumps at 25 exp are pretty much your best bet to level up fast.

If I had a dollar for every time Marnie wasn't in her store, I would be rich
It's so nice to watch DangerouslyFunny's videos from when he was sweet and innocent.

Evidently not.
Luneytunes :/
3:23 Yes he does.
Your videos are awesome, keep up with these good videos
There is a secret passage in the trees between the two hardwood stump places. It's a lot faster if you use it.
You’re the best Stardew Valley youtuber!
Coffee takes 11 days for first harvest if you water on the first day, then harvest every other day. You get 3 or 4 per harvest.

All the women go to Pierre's on Tuesday to workout or something, so Robin and Marnie's stores won't be open.
you can use speed grow on already planted crops
I was really lucky and in late spring I got a coffee bean from a dust sprite...or whatever they're called :-P
The wiki says that foraging items reset every time you go to sleep on Saturday excluding the beach.
Love your video's
I don't know what it is but there's something about these videos that's kinda memorizing. Like, I don't mind if you screw stuff up. Means more video!
You should remember what days shops are closed eg: carpenters shop is closed for most of Tuesday and Pierre's is not open on Wednesdays
yes stumps do give XP. it is the stumps from cutting down trees that doesn't.
marny and Robin where closed because at tuesday the women go to work out (in pieres shop) :)
The hardwood stumps give 25 or 35exp per stump at the top of my head, which is the highest "foragable" "item" in the game
I find it odd that the stumps on this farm grow back daily, yet the ore on the hilltop farm takes ages to re-spawn. Just me? Yes? okay
I dont understand why you arnt taking the gold ore. Making me crazy. You totally still need it.
Hey matt forbes from 4 years ago!!!!!
DON'T SELL COFFEE BEANS,TURN THEM IN TO COFFEE. COFFEE BEANS SELL FOR 15, BUT COFFEE SELLS FOR 150, ALSO IT IS COFFEE, SO YOU CAN USE IT NORMALLY.
He was so young-
Now he’s a sadist. BUT ITS FUNNY!!

also you dont need hardwood for tappers. its 50 regular wood and 2 copper bars :)
Actually it's 40 regular wood, IIRC.
Did you know that you can break those bushes in your farm on the grass area with upgraded axe
"Hopefully they'll still get me some profit. A single coffee seed for 2,500 gold..."
Oh, DF... if only you knew then what you know now.
coffee beans only sell for 16g each i believe, and you get four per harvest. the profit is making 5 beans into coffee with the keg, and while the waiting time is pretty fast (1 game hour i think?) i think youre better off making wine or pale ale instead. also quality has no effect in the keg so quality fertilizer is virtually useless
You do get experience for chopping hardwood.
you need hay for when it rains or is winter lovethe vids
But the animals can't die, so you don't have to feed them.
King Hayden thats true but he can feed them for happiness if he wants to idk
What's up with that big bird at 5:50?
Moin Moin Its because it is supposed to be closer to the camera.
its a crow and without a scarecrow it eats a crop.
It's an owl or raven, it only appears at night, and is not a crow, and does not eat your crops.
It's an owl. Only the silhouette is ever shown in-game, but a coloured sprite set exists in the game files.
"Owls are somewhat uncommon, and can only be seen at night (7:00pm-2:00am). They have been seen in all seasons.", says the wiki.
King Hayden so its not the crow flying away bc scarecrows? hmm didnt know that.
shouldn't you have picked fruit instead of mushrooms? The fruit is picked up like a foragable so wouldn't it count as faraging?
Pig's aren't available until the last barn
DF, you need to clear all those logs and weeds outside of the farm, especially in the forest to the south. You're making harvest runs, but you're failing to realise that harvestable goods can/will grow in those spots, but not if a log or weed is there instead. So get to it.
Holy fuck, you're so fun
Man, don't get offended, but I find your voice so weird but I fuckin adore it :D Keep the vids up, would love too see a new get rich scheme :D
you get 25 foreging xp for chopping hardwood stumps or logs doesnt matter
Marnie is a pain in the ass. She's only there like 2 or 3 days a week.
I just made this schedule on Reddit - it looks like it might be useful for you :-D
www.reddit.com/r/StardewValley/comments/59v450/sdv_shop_schedules/
I need to make some fixes and edits for it, but in general everything is correct. I think I'm really just missing the days that people go for their check up at Harvey's, and I forgot to add the saloon.
Hope you find it useful!
U know u need upgraded farm for pigs?
you need a silo for winter when there is no grass
They can survive without, but you can be sure that that won't help your animal friendship.
You don't grow coffee for profit, you grow it to brew it into coffee.
If you don't have the means to brew it though, a stack of the beans is worth about fifteen thousand gold.
Charlotte Roy
True. Though if you turned that same batch of beans into coffee you would triple that.
Or you could have coffee forever.
A stack? Do you mean 999 beans? That's about 15g per bean which I think is correct. Not very profitable, most crops are better than that.
You could sell the brewed coffee for profit, but I don't know how much it sells for.
The coffee is indeed about triple the sell price of the beans it costs to make them. Though, it's easier just to keep the beans flowing than it is to brew it all, especially since DF skips days.
btw your accent is lovely
Did your voice get lower?
all the girls go to a class on Tuesdays so their shops aren't open.
Chopping down trees only gives 12 exp i think, while Hardwood Stumps give 25 exp.
Just looked at the Wiki forage items also give 3 exp while the ones on your farm give 7 exp, so Hardwood Stumps at 25 exp are pretty much your best bet to level up fast.
U need a deluxe barn to get pigs
mmhmmm imba for sho
GJ
your voice sounds deeper what happened?
It's so weird to watch him run around and actually farm and not roast or treat the villagers badly. That's the DF I know lol who is this imposter
Wait.........you can move the barns!?!?!?!? YES!!!!! How did I not know this!?
Now I must go try!
