If the extra cost isn't large, the legroom would make it worthwhile on a 7-hour trip for those of us with long legs. The meal might not satisfy the appetite of a young, active person, but it looked quite adequate for older folks like me.

I flew on Long Haul on Lufthansa's A340-300 and 747-8I and the IFE was so bad. It was half broken, small, the response was not good though the seats were the same then on this A330...

On our flight to Nairobi I saw Alexandria and the pyramids. I recognized the coastline of Alexandria from being there in the spring.

The thing I don’t get with premium economy, the jump up in price can often be double the price of an economy seat… for slightly more leg room and a ‘slightly nicer meal’.
Occasionally you get cheap upgrades but if I’m paying £400 for a flight. I’m not paying £400 more to sit in premium economy which I’ve often seen.
fly Air NZ or Virgin Atlantic the seat is much better and business class quality meals
Yes, I see that frequently at LH, although one time I saw you could upgrade for 7€, seems to be very inconsistent
well you could say that about any premium class. Business is nice but not 3 to 4 times as nice.

Great report Felix, to me it definitely seemed worth the little extra cost.
Unfortunately the return leg of my first trip with this airline was a 12 hour Bkk to Frankfurt in economy.
Once seated I removed my shoes, placed them in the overhead and on settling in to my seat I discovered that the floor was very wet from a spillage on the incoming flight. My socks and feet were now wet and the aircraft was just finishing boarding. My requests for help fell on deaf ears and once airborne when the seat belt signs were turned off I again asked the same male crew member for help. His response was that if I continued to be bothersome then the police would be waiting for me in Frankfurt.
So as not to be rude to the other passengers I kept the sodden socks on for 12 hours!
You should never take off your shoes on an aircraft.

Nice Premium Economy seat, but the catering seemed a bit frugal.
My uncle flew on Lufthansa's A333 and said it was a very marvelous and well kept plane, I can see why he said that by watching this video!
The 'at seat' experience is a significant upgrade from their European Business Class.

Nice trip report. Premium Economy is a good choice on long haul in most cases for most carriers.
And yeah, you're right about that first meal being on the small side, would have expected a bit more.
But the before landing "meal" was a joke to me. That's not a meal, but a snack, and looked insubstantial.
The before landing was meant to be a snack. It was even written on the menu...

The portion on the main course was too small I think. Although you were in premium economy class. It's not satisfying if you have small food portion when you're hungry though...

I flew to Kenya last Year on Lufthansa (economy though) with my School as we spend 2 Weeks visiting our partner schools in rural Kenya. LH590 was our flight. Brings back some absolutely awesome memories of Kenya.

The business 2-2-2 seems a bit tight for that a 330, normally I fly 1-2-1 on Iberia.
The food portion was for for a CHILD. This is why I always carry snacks and extra food with me.

Looks like a decent experience. I've only seen it on YT, but Korean Air's SuperM safety video probably would be the opposite extreme compared to Lufthansa, lol. That "dinner" looks more like a snack to me. Nice report.

Premium economy seat is the seat we used to get in economy.
Ingolstadt was the plane name doing the flight AC 9610.
Nice report on what looked like a fairly ho-hum flight. The food service looked particularly mediocre--I would expect better from Lufthansa. Since I retired several years ago I have watched at least 250 flight report videos, from this and many other channels. Probably a quarter or a third of them have pointed out the coat hook, and in all that time I have seen exactly one video where anybody actually hung anything on the hook.

I've done PE on long haul flights on Singapore and JAL and with them it's definitely worth it. A lot of my enthusiasm is a result of the fact that those carriers are far better than any US flag carrier, in any class, and probably far better than most if not all European carriers.

Why would you pay for premium when the seat arms don’t go up so you can stretch out. In economy, since the flights are never full any more, you could get a whole row. Use that savings and buy great food at the departing airport.

LH have a very good premium economy and economy product. On the other hand, their business class isn't good, the business class seats are surely not 5 star standard. I'm quite surprised that the main meal was that small. The quality was good though,

Why do you have to go through passport control when you’ve only traveled from Vienna to Frankfurt???? Do you mean airport security?
No need for passport control between Austria and Germany because they are both in the Schengen area, but going onwards to Kenya (or any other country which is not in the Schengen area including the Republic of Ireland) requires an exit passport control.
Flights between Schengen countries are treated as domestic, so you will not have passed through any official passport control.
@@neilpickup237 I know all that as an EU citizen you can travel anywhere in the schengen area (except the Republic of Ireland) without a passport. What I was asking was on your journey through the airport do they have a check point for flights leaving the EU before you get to the gate.,
@@francismcdonnell753 yes they do check before you get to the gate. Effectively the airport is divided into two zones with passport control between the two.
As for EU citizens being able to move within the Schengen countries, this usually applies to all travellers once they have entered the zone. Although I believe that due to covid restrictions additional checks which may affect this ability (even for EU citizens) have been introduced.
