- This report detailing the tragic death of Joey Ramone aired on WCBS-TV/Ch. 2 News on Sunday night, 15 April 2001, the very night on which the punk rock prophet passed away from lymphoma. Ironically, the rock 'n' roll Messiah passed away on Easter Sunday.

My brother was a punk rocker and liked this band. His name was Shaun and here’s a interesting thing about him.

I find this interesting 😢but yeah I just miss my brother so much it’s been a real hard year for me. I’m really heart broken over his death. I want to find all the music he was into and add it to my own playlist or make one based on the music he liked. He will never be forgotten! Rest in peace my sweet big bro! I won’t ever forget you and will see each other again someday! I know you and Mama will be waiting for me at the gates. ❤️

As long as we do that, the individuals may be gone, but the Ramones will never die and I think that honors their memory, their creativity and the impact their existence has had on us. No puedo creer que han pasado 14 años Joey! I remember that night, watching TV and suddenly, don't know why, change the channel to CNN and there I saw your face and dates under it. Had to turn up the volume (everyone was sleeping at home in Buenos Aires) and the guy said "lead singer of the Ramones died of cancer....". I couldn't stop crying, woke up my brother, who wasn't a big fan like I am and he had to see for himself 'cause he did not believe me at first. The Ramones in Argentina were like "gods" to all of us. The real rock&roll gods!! 14 years have gone by. My daughters grew up listening to The Ramones, so proud.... but still.... I just miss them a lot!! VAMOS LOS RAMONES CARAJO!!!

I don't think I'll ever get over the fact they're dead. I grew up listening to the ramones. I didn't have cartoon heroes when I was a little kid. I just recorded myself on tapes singing ramones songs. my strongest desire as a little child was to collect all ramones records from the shops. I remember how hard animal boy was to get. I bought the cds one by one saving pennies when I was between 8 and 11 years old. the ramones are more than just a band in my life. they are memories from childhood. every time I hear a ramones song it feels like going back to my childhood. something unique that happens to me probably comparable to what happens to me with the Beatles too.

Sad that all those guys died so young. I was privileged to see them in Chicago in '79 or '80. Great show. Johnny was amazing to watch also. People were throwing stuff (why? I never understood that shit) at them on stage, but they never missed a beat. Johnny just kept kicking it all back at the audience.

actually if you watch the ramones documentary the drummer mentions that the first album was their 'pop' album, they were in to a lot of pop music at the time...they were rebelling against the 'virtuoso's' and 10 minute solos that went nowhere, they wanted to bring back the heavier rhythms of the 50's rock music and the spirit of rock.

The sad thing is, I remember back then when I was just getting into rock music and there was an announcement in a UK magazine called Rock Sound, it was such a small piece literally said "Punk rock legend Joey Ramone died of cancer". At the time I had no idea who he was, but in later years when I discovered the Ramones, I remembered that article and how disrespectful it was. The man was a legend and they were asslicking Linkin Park for about 5 pages. Sad times. Sad I wasn't around to see Ramones!

My father is currently battling stage 2 lymphoma and is making progress,I don't think the advances in modern medicine were as good twenty years ago like they are today because the tumors are shrinking gradually and he is still going strong.
I remember when he passed, it was a very sad 😞 day.
