Hi Katie, Arts and Science Class of ‘91 here again-my daughter Class of ‘23 A&S but has found a way like you to stay another year so Class of ‘23 or ‘24? Hello again (previous posts).
My journey to faith started probably when I was three. Since my grandmother taught me the story of Jesus, Joseph and others, I never questioned. Over the years as any Christian will freely admit I have not always followed the word of God. In recent years God abruptly halted my path and challenged me. It’s interesting you mentioned the Book of Matthew as it was my favorite. But as I started to rethink my life and even in tribulations, I came to realize that God is the greatest Chess Grandmaster of all. What would appear a setback if you look carefully, you come to realize He carefully crafted a journey in which my Faith has grown and still grows every day. He saved me from storing treasures in this world but treasures in Heaven and will likely need to do so again.
Katie, there will be times of tribulations in life. Trust a 53 year old Cornellian who would appear to be a success in this world and hold/held positions of leadership, I’ve had plenty of times that I tripped and fell hard. Always remember this, He will never leave you. And through my own journey and understanding the old and New Testament, God never said life would be easy. I am far from understanding the Bible completely but I try every day.
As Jesus stated, He is the fulfillment of the Old Testament and brought us a new covenant that of salvation. As in the Book of Daniel, one can thrive in the midst of enemies thru the Grace of God, Faith in Him and receiving of the Holy Spirit.
Let’s encourage each other to be better Christians in this fellowship called life. You’re videos have always been a ray of light. So as stated in the Book of Matthew and I paraphrase, Be the Light and continue doing so. But pardon me as I return to remove the log in my own eye so that I can see clearly the speck in my brothers. To always remember what I do for the least of our brethren we have done for the King of Kings.
So glad to have met you thru your videos to see Cornell still has the presence of God in everything we see on our beautiful campus and community. I have so much more to learn and dare not lead another astray due to my own misunderstanding of scripture. But that’s the miracle of God isn’t it, what we can never hope to achieve ourselves, God can with ease. Please pray for me as I pray for you that all those in this journey with Him, grow more steadfast and righteous every day.
Lastly, check out Ascension Press Bible in a Year podcast with Father Mike. I’m not Catholic but we are all Christian together.
I am truly blessed to see such vibrancy of Faith on my beloved campus which I will be back to visit soon. May you walk in this path towards righteousness everyday. God Bless Katie

I’ve been watching your videos every since my youngest daughter stated Cornell was her dream school, 2 years ago. We visited the campus last year and after some back and forth her dream school switched to Brown. I am happy to announce that she was just accepted ED to Brown this past Tuesday. That was the first time I had ever seen my daughter express such an interest in God. I am very interested and excited to watch your upcoming video. I, too, am a person of faith. ☺️😊😊🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️

Good morning Katie. As always, I am in total agreement with you. My faith has been foundational for all aspects of my life. The Bible provides so much to support our journey; a fav is: "I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live." (Eccl 3:12). I try. And you--you do it! And gaining and contributing to the "intergenerational wisdom" is a common thought that swirls around during each precious Sat morn vid by you. Keep it up girl. A most deeply expressed Merry Christmas to you.

Heeey Katie! Merry Christmas! Just like most Filipinos, I'm also a Catholic. I wasn't used to going to church when I was a kid but somehow looking back, because I went to a catholic school in the Philippines where you also had a subject about the Catholic faith, to this day my faith stayed with me. When I was in Norway, going to church became more frequent for me especially when I joined a youth community where I got to meet more Filipinos sharing the same faith. Then I joined their choir every Sunday, their youth camps, their Friday activities. I was more active in church while I was in IB, but when I got into college, going to church and joining community activities became less for me and that was my struggle especially with a load of academic work going on. Today, I'm still inconsistent with going to church and I haven't read the bible in a while, so the least I do is pray the common prayers like the "Our Father", "Hail Mary", and "Glory Be" before I go to sleep, especially when I don't know what more words I can say to God, those are the common prayers I do. Even then, I still try to pray everyday and make small silent intentions when I go to church so that at least I have this small communication with God while I am attending mass.

My son was admitted to Cornell's Hotel School recently and we're going to visit Ithaca next week to check out the school for the first time. He's a Christian and we'll be there on a Sunday, so we were wondering what church you attended during your time in Ithaca? In the list of ministries at Cornell, we also ran across a group called Christian Union (it's a group focused on building Christian leaders that has chapters solely at the top schools such as Cornell around country). Have you heard of it or know anything about it? Enjoying your videos BTW. They're helpful as my son is making his college decision.

For churches, I've been to Bethel Grove, Calvary Chapel, and Christ Chapel. They vary in size, expression, sermon style, etc. so it'd be best for you to visit in-person and see for yourself.
For fellowships, yes I've heard of Christian Union and they're active. I personally was more involved with Asian American Intervarsity (AAIV), Cru, and Cornell International Christian Fellowship (CICF).
But there are many other options! In the first week of class, there'll be a lot of these organizations hosting events and informational booths (eg. at Clubfest) that I recommend your son check out and join the mailing lists of. :) Hope this helps and enjoy Ithaca next week! May God lead you both.
