    Now your sieve filter is sorted could you run the outflow of your hoover straight into that and put it all through the main filter? just thought it may save you lugging the other bit around. If you had a long enough hose for the vac you could even leave it installed in your filter house and just connect the pipe to the outside of the shed :)

    I use a small air compressor for all filter cleaning.a few short blasts does wonders

    • @Wrighty

      Sounds a good idea, but with the bakki river I'm trying to keep air out of the filter. Thanks, Terry

    Terry I love the Bakki river I’m definitely going to build one in the future and the way you clean it is so easy! Also it looks like the sieve filter is doing a wonderful job as well! Keep up the great work and keep us posted!~Eric

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  5 років тому +1

      Hi Eric, The Bakki river is doing too well lol. It's stopped the blanket weed which is brilliant, but it's stunting the growth of the pond plants as well. I might take one chamber out and see what happens. I'm well pleased with the Sieve filter. I might up-grade the mesh on my RDF to something finer now. Thanks mate, Terry.

    Great update Terry. A suggestion 😉 in your bakki river install an air stone in each storage box and turn the air off to it and then when you want to clean it, turn the air to the stones on and that will push all the muck and settlement to the surface and out, just remember to ask the wife for more tights. 😂😂😂 Thanks for the updates as always. Chris.

      Thanks mate, will look into that thanks. It's more fun when I don't ask her lol. I love the look on her face when she see's one leg of the tights missing 🤣🤣😂😜 Terry.

    Where do u get the cloverleaf product that was used to get rid of algae

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  5 років тому

      Hi Barb, I get the Cloverleaf on eBay. www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=plastic+welding+heat+gun&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l2632.R2.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xcloverleaf.TRS0&_nkw=cloverleaf+blanket+answer&_sacat=93632

    Awesome video as always Terry, it's nice having some great weather at last 👍 does a bakki shower not work the same as a bakki river for nitrate?? 🤔

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  5 років тому +2

      Hi Rick, Thanks mate. The Bakki shower will create both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria as there's a lot of air mixed with the water in the shower. My moving bed deals with the aerobic bacteria which deals with ammonia and nitrite, I went for the river which is more for the anaerobic bacteria which deals with nitrates as there's no or very little air in the water. Terry.

  • @simonhedderwick4516
    @simonhedderwick4516 5 років тому

    I wonder if you removed one of the tubs for the bakki river it would give you a little bit of nitrates for the plants?? 🤔

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  5 років тому +1

      Hi Simon, I was thinking just that the other day. I know there is plenty of Siporax in there for my pond size. I might try emptying one of the boxes. I also thought about using the Cloverleaf and killing that short algae off. That must be consuming nitrates as well. Good thought mate. Terry.

    Terry, do you add beneficial bacteria or does it just grow on it's own

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  5 років тому

      Hi James, It will grow on it's own but can take quite a while. It does help the filter to add new bacteria and does get a new system up and running quicker. I do add it throughout the summer. It's always good for your pond. Thanks, Terry.

    Hi. I have only had my koi pond for a couple so seasons now, this will be my third and you have been a wealth of knowledge mate. So thank you.
    However I have to say after watching this latest video I am a little disappointed in your taste in football teams. You're on the wrong side of The Trent 😉🐑
    Have a good weekend pal.

      Hi Craig, lol. I have to be honest mate. I don't really follow football. My mate bought me the tee-shirt for my birthday in an attempt to get me supporting his team. My wife is very interested, but follows Chelsea lol. Thanks mate, Terry.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  5 років тому +1

      Hi Dan, I'm running about 100 ltr. My pond is heavily stocked so I need it mate. Terry.

    • @DansKoiPond
      @DansKoiPond 5 років тому

      @@Wrighty thanks, just about to set one up and no idea how much is suitable for what. Got 50ltr will start with that and see how I go. Mine aren't that big and not many so hopefully be ok.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  5 років тому +1

      Hi Dan, 50 ltr will be plenty mate. Once it's mature it would do about 20 average size koi. It actually goes on the amount of food fed per day per ltr of K1. I have a video tip for new media: ua-cam.com/video/PerFdq4w4to/v-deo.html it might help mate, Terry.

      @@Wrighty thanks, just watched it, very useful tips. Not sure how I missed that one, i thought I had watched all your vids.

    • @Wrighty
      @Wrighty  5 років тому +1

      It will circulate in the tub better if it's pre soaked mate. It will take a while to mature, usually around 3 months. You can speed this up by adding liquid bacteria to the filter to kick start the media. Terry.
