@@Coolist it was ok not what we wanted to be. We did had a reservation but it was way to crowded, they were kind of rushing us to get the table free. It was on Christmas Day. Fantino was our favorite place for Christmas Eve.

Wow...amazing! When was this stay? Did you stayed during the storm? I was in Cancun the last week of September. Been a Hyatt boy I stayed at the Hyatt Ziva for the first time since I usually go to the Hyatt Zilara (Zilara adults only, Ziva is for families). I also dont wanna see families or kids 🤣🤣🤣...but that wasn’t a problem since hotel occupancy was under 30%. How was the occupancy at the Ritz?...because it looks empty. Happy to see you back!
We were there at similar times... I landed at the very end of September and stayed into the first week of October. That tropical storm was quite the experience as it severely and negatively impacted half of my trip, but that is the risk of booking during hurricane season. This was the first time I've encountered a serious tropical storm or hurricane in Cancun during the wet season, and it was a sobering reminder of why the room rates are so heavily discounted during that time of year.
The Ritz's occupancy rate was around what you witnessed at the Hyatt. The upside of low occupancy is ample space, easy upgrades, and the pinnacle of privacy. But Sparse services, furloughed restaurants, and tapered amenities are downfalls of low occupancy. If I could just somehow harvest the good traits associated with low occupancy and respectively prune the drawbacks, it would be the perfect hotel experience 😎
I was unaware that the Zilara was adults only, but that policy makes sense based on their other properties in the area as "adults only" is a major criterion for certain travelers, including yours truly 😎
@@Coolist Agree. Low occupancy also means less services. That was more noticeable Monday after all guest from the weekend left. We also got an upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite with a big balcony and Jacuzzi using a suite upgrade certificate...a difference of Marriott SNA, each Hyatt certificates are good to upgrade a room for up to 7 nights. Hyatt Zilara in Cancun is a small property compared to the Ritz or the Ziva. Ziva have more restaurants, pools, and a better beach. I would go to the Ziva again but that can change if the property is full and i have to interact with kids and families :0) Cant wait for the JW video! Take care.
zilara has excellent reviews online - i will stay there someday. And that's interesting how Hyatt does their suite nights; I'll need to research that loyalty program in the future.

Correct - I've been an ambassador since the inception of that apex tier, which has been a few years now.
I actually made a video on this exact topic and I'll publish it next week, but I won't make you wait for it in case your trip is imminent or you'd like to secure your booking promptly.
The choice between Cancun's ritz Carlton and JW Marriott is the quintessential toss-up. Personal preferences will make the choice for you:
Ritz: classier, quieter, ultimate luxury, better crowd, bigger room, best beach by far, best restaurant and best pool food. Also best location,
Jw Marriott: better pool, better grounds, better design and layout, more modern., less stuffy/pretentious, newer rooms, better in-room features such as bathroom and bed.
For me, on paper, the jw Marriott wins, but the ritz had better memories. Spend a couple nights at both and you'll see how similar yet different they are. Enjoy!
@@Coolist Im on the road for work 4 nights a week and usually stay at regular marriots. I've stayed at a ritz a couple of times as well as a JW. i actually prefer the JW. ritz reminds me of a hotel my grandma would love. i prefer the modern, spacious, functional feel of the JW. i had originally booked 5 nights at the cancun jw and was planning on using suite night award to upgrade. for some reason they are currently not allowing SNA at JW cancun. so now its a toss us. also, ritz charges $42 / night resort fee. i called then and asked what the resort fee was for and i got a BS answer. basically noting. i agree, deciding bt these 2 hotels is a tossup.
Utilizing SNA's at this present moment could prove difficult because low occupancy rates force hotels to completely close certain floors of the property. The floors that are closed are usually those that contain the upgraded rooms and suites, as those accommodations have extremely low demand and high overhead costs in times of idle capacity.
Based on your description of the hotel style and dynamic most appealing to you, the JW Marriott sounds like the optimal choice for your Cancun trip.

Le Blanc is absolutely the best in Cancun. I've yet to stay there, but I will someday, and that experience will be documented on this channel.

The Ritz Carlton Cancun is not all inclusive.
Usually, I love RC experiences despite their minimum benefit (I'm titanium) and prefer to pay extra $ than staying in JW.
But Cancun RC just doesnt feel appealing, dont know if it's just me, but pool area and the beach chair looks very dated, ugly balcony (except suite you were staying)
I assume the service will be much better but doens't seem twice the price of JW.
heading for my honeymoon in Cancun in June and decided to stay at JW and Fairmont mayakoba.

For a honeymoon, I'd pick the Ritz over the JW.
That apparatus is a valet. You hang your suit jacket and pants on it to keep them from getting wrinkled. Lol
I had no idea. Hangers in a closet seems like the easier and more intuitive alternative.
@@Coolist I just knew because my great grandfather had one. The Ritz-Carlton looks great there. Aruba Ritz has beach service on segways! Going back as soon as covid is over.

i don’t really love the lack of privacy on some of the balconies in the middle. there’s no dividers between you and your neighbors.

So, what did you like better, the Ritz or the JW?
There's so much parity between the two properties - both are so similar with just subtleties as difference. The JW Marriott is the better overall property with because it offers a superior pool scene, a larger campus, and more overall value compared to the Ritz.
However, personally, I'd choose the Ritz because that property is a little more tranquil with an uptick of class and luxury.
