Wow, never before have I seen a press meeting like this for a BL project. Manner of Death was so intelligent that I wondered why they chose it. Usually they oversexualize the seme and uke and even effeminate the uke. In this project, Dr Bun stabbed an assailant with a broken bottle, dropped kicked a syndicate stooge to save the seme and pointed a gun at the seme's head. Dr Sam is a proper fujoshi, writing classic slash fiction so I understood why she was shocked when the project got picked up. Even I was shocked. Then I saw the producer and laughed. No wonder it got picked up. The producer is a woman and probably a fujoshi too. The panel was the way BL panels should be. Other than the actors, everyone else is a woman. Max and Tul were smiling and flirting until they actually listened to the way the author was speaking. Then they got quieter and quieter. I think they even got a little nervous. They didn't realise how much they had bitten off with this project. They tried to do some flimsy fanservice but eventually stopped when they realised that this was not the time or place for it. I feel sorry for Max and Tul because they are talented actors and got stuck of Knock and Korn. I don't think anyone has explained BL to them. This project is everything a BL should have been in the first place. It was set in a universe that was for fujoshis and not the LGBT. Por didnt flip out when he saw Tan holding the doctor's hand. There were no sex-hungry dimwitted fujoshis shipping anyone. The uke was central to the story and not a sex object. He was a masculine man and not a woman. You cant tell this story without the uke. The seme's story gets elevated when the uke gets involved. Without Dr Bun, Tan is just one of Por's goons. But with Dr Bun, Tan becomes a renegade. The uke has a moral compass. The female antagonist doesnt exist simply to break up the pairing like Pleng. Rungtiva is an a deeply evil, beastly woman and she gets dealt with in the way a villainess should be dealt with. She is not coddled [that happens in the mainstream industry]. The seme doesnt rape and molest the uke in the name of love. I am so sick of seeing seme's forcing a kiss on uke's. Even 2together had that, despite being wholesome. The uke is not a virginal prude. In the Tincan and Sarawatine pairings, those ukes seemed to have extremely low sex drives. Can kept flinching when kissed and Tine kept looking scandalized when Sarawat flirted with him. The doctor is not a whore but he is not a prude either. The seme never rough handled the uke. There are plenty of sex scenes that appear like a punishment. The locker room scene by AePete. The entirety of TharnType. The lack of respect for the uke is staggering. In contrast, during the shower scene in Manner of Death, Tan was extremely gentle when kissing the doctor. Even the handcuff incident was for his own safety. Tan was trying to keep him out of danger. I just wish they had used metal railings. The sex is not the whole point of the story. Its is just the cherry on top. Most proper BL stories are not over sexualised. Some stories may even have just kissing and still be wildly successful like 2gether, although that show really tested our patience with the high five. For some reason, the companies keep choosing Mame and her most vulgar stories even though, the Medthanan brothers story from Love By Chance could have been an awesome story to flesh out. I think the Medthanan brothers story could have been Mame's magnum opus, if she just gave her sex drive a break. All in all, thank you Dr Sam for putting together this intelligent story. Thank you to the producer for choosing this novel as MaxTul's relaunch project. And thank you Max and Tul for guiding us into Dr Bannikit and the morally ambiguous Teacher Tan's universe. Max played the character so well, that a part of me still feels suspicious of him. If only the schoolboy had been left out, I would have been happy. This is the quintessential BL project but the fake woke inclusive fujoshis wont acknowledge that. There will be a clumsy return to underage boys and their inappropriate love stories set in high school with fujoshi's gushing over them and making a nuisance of themselves. I may even be called a homophobe for writing this. But I dont mind. I am happy that I wrote this.
