Akai GX 255

Akai GX 255 für max. 18er Spulen. GX-Köpfe, 1x Erase, 1x Rec, 1x Play und 1x Erase/Play für autoreverse. 3 Motoren, 2x Reel und 1x Capstan. Vor-und Hinterbandkontrolle. 9,5 und 19cm/sec. Gewicht ca. 16 kg. Die kleine Schwester zur Akai GX 625.
Holzseitenteile wurden von mir neu furniert in amerikan. Nussbaum und dann geölt.
Funktionsvorführung. Das Schleifen kommt von der Akai Spule. Schlief nicht an der Front, sondern am Tonbandmaterial! Spule war leicht deformiert, dies konnte ich aber problemlos richten.

Nice system. However, when the tape is running you can hear a periodic noise and you can see on the video where the tape on the lower right moves. Something is warped to make it load on the reel and make that noise. Is the Akai reel on the right warped?

The right tape reel was slightly warped. There the tape grinds on the spool.

nice video, but you won't be hearing this deck at its best sadly - recordings made from digital sources etc will never approach master tape quality...that means pretty much any modern recorded music will sound not as good as it could (or should).
