Most of The Great Cold Distance sounds like A Perfect Circle or Tool, so I'm not surprised many Katatonia fans like them too. It's essentially Jonas' vocals that bring them to mind, at least for me.
This "great cold distance" definitively punched me in the fucking nuts!!!! MAN, WHAT AN ALBUM!!! AMAZING and the live performance sounds really awesome. Very very good
It's possible that he says it wrong, you shouldn't be surprised:) Jonas says English words in a very funny way- somewhere he shortens them, sometimes adds accents in strange moments... but in my opinion it makes him even more charming:D
@DrumlineGuru I didn't know!... That's so surprising! But it explains, why Arjen Lucassen of Ayeron in his video about 0101001 album, said 'Yonas' instead of 'Jonas' in English pronouncation. Now I know why:) Thanks!
@iryzzone Absolutely. And it's not so much that he's saying words wrong-- he's Swedish! There is no "J" sound in Swedish, it's pronounced as a "y". Those of us who speak English as our first language would be hard pressed to sing in Swedish!
@StrikerTheLizard Opeth and Katatonia are [apparently] two completely different bands. I love Katatonia to bits, but I would never say Katatonia could be any better than Opeth. I mean... Lyricwise Katatonia is much better as thair songs are really deep, but musicwise, there is no band in the world that could ever beat Opeth. Moreover Opeth has kickass lyrics too. :)
does he sing "justify" wrong? :O anyway, a fucking great song and an awesome band. always wanted to see them live but never got the chance :/ i want to lay on the concert floor and just listen to this sound :)
@strykerzr350 Tool is hardly comparable with APC. APC is more melodic and (a lot) less complicated rythmically. Next to that Tool is way more experimental. The only real reason they're compared is because of the mutual vocalist. Without the vocalist, I think few would compare them or put them in the same box. (few that actualy have keen hearing anyway) And Katatonia isn't half the band Tool is. Tool is so much more groundbreaking musically.
It's amazing how the guitars can be blazing metal but Jonas maintains a soft and melodic voice during the chorus. Pure art!
I've seen this band live!! great performance , all of them are very good musicians

Great! Thank you very much!
i love this band 3 years now since the first time i heard them...i can't wait for a live in athens!!
Grate sound. Drummer is real class. Heavy guitar sound up front and nice melody vocals with the band making a load of heavy grooves. nice
This "great cold distance" definitively punched me in the fucking nuts!!!! MAN, WHAT AN ALBUM!!! AMAZING and the live performance sounds really awesome. Very very good

new album in Nov 10!!!!!!!!!!!
XD
OPETH then Porcupine Tree then Tool then Katatonia
I agree, his vocals sound very different and not in a good way live. I'd still go see them live, though. It'd be a good show.
A performance deles ao vivo me desapontou um pouco,a voz dele é muito melhor em estúdio.
does he sing "justify" wrong? :O
anyway, a fucking great song and an awesome band. always wanted to see them live but never got the chance :/
i want to lay on the concert floor and just listen to this sound :)
Obviously, since I made a connection between two pieces of music.
:)))
@IWillSexU likewise, but I never got into Tool. :P
yeah...maybe it wasn't a good day for them. or scar symmetry :(

@IWillSexU
Tool...then katatonia...:))
@strykerzr350 o.O Katatonia is one of the best banda's in the world...but Tool is the best, and Tool and apc are nothing alike
I love Katatonia, but they aren't good live. I saw them a few months ago and wasn't happy.
@TheKolibric yeah.. for me now it's also tool and then katatonia.. i had slightly different oppinion a year ago .. =)
