Can you make 3 molar kcl storage solution with ph 4 buffer and kcl. Is it 1g kcl per 100ml buffer 4 or 22g per 100ml. Can you use distilled water instead of buffer 4. OR to make 1-3 molar kcl storage solution you need 75g-223g kcl per litre of buffer 4 or distilled water? Thanks. Handy to know should one run out of 3 molar kcl storage solution one submerges a ph pen in for daily use and long term storage. Can you get away with mild washing up liquid in water mix and soft toothbrush to clean the glass bulb...would this damage the gel on the outside of the glass bulb?
Hi Thank you for reaching out to us. We recommend using storage solutions from Metrohm, as this is the only way to guarantee that the electrode will function properly. Mixing your own storage solution may have an impact on the performance of your electrode, especially regarding the response time. Please do not clean the glass membrane with a toothbrush - this may damage your glass membrane. Dear Ayush Arjaria, unfortunately, this electrode cannot be used anymore and needs to be replaced. If the glassmembrane is broken, you will not get any useful or correct potential readings.

is the electrolyte solution thats inside the electrode the same as the KCl storage solution?
Hi Tee, the electrolyte is 3 molar KCl solution, however, the Metrohm storage solution is not KCl, it is a salt that does not contain potassium ions.
