Chad, those Louis and Duke albums are amazing. I got the old classics. If you can UHQR them... I can't even imagine the sound... Thanks for all your work on making your company, in my opinion, the best in reissuing.
You picked some truly truly great jazz albums, Chad! 😻 So many people are focused on the '50's and '60's small group jazz artists like Miles & Trane, but I'm so glad that you picked albums with people like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. They are absolutely extraordinary and are two of my very favorite artists out of any genre. 😻 You won't hear anything better than Armstrong playing West End Blues or Ellington performing live at Newport in '56! 😻
You are so right about Gene Ammons!! I first heard his music in the background at my neighborhood barbershop. The barbers were big fans of Jazz and that later influenced my musical tastes. all that jazz sounded so good at the barbershop and now sounds soo good on my turntable
My Favorites too, Chad; for longer than I can recall! Fremer turned me on to the Ellington Masterpieces about 10 years ago, it's still delightful, You and Stelly insisted I buy a copy of King Oliver 20 years ago. Glad to see you agree that these are timeless offerings, that every music aficionado should experience..
Louis Armstrong is one of my favourite artists of all time, his work with Ella is just crazy good. Then of course James Brown. Would AP ever get a license for some of his records? I’ve just got the Sounds of QRP, and OMG, talk about demo quality!
I have all but two of these (and the 33 and 45 of Time Out). I can confirm that Chad's recommendations in this video are very solid. These are all gems - absolutely great music and exceptional SQ. I'd encourage folks to buy any of these that are in stock. (Of course, stream them first if you're not sure you'll enjoy the music.)
I played the three Gene Ammons AP records over the past two Sunday mornings, and I think I have another tenor to add to my list of favorites along with Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Don Byas, and Dexter Gordon. Very impressive indeed.
Im delighted to be old enough to say i have most all of these titles - either in SACD or Tube Masterted Gold CDs from Acoustic Sounds (along with a couple from MobileFidelity) back in late 90s and early 2000s. I’d replace the CDs with SACDs if they were released :) Otherwise, these are all so incredible already… not going anywhere till i pass on… delighted to have them in my library.
my ego was gratified to find I own a couple of the recommended albums . but I don't kid myself, my collection was assembled randomly, so record advice from such a knowable person, to me, is like having John Muir giving me camping tips. one notable fact about the Ellington orchestra is that the sound of the band was passed down from player to player, the sound of the band wasn't just in the musical notation , it had to be learned from another humans understanding of how the band needed to play the sounds, with unique interpretation of the written notation, much like eccentric dancing is passed down.from dancer to dancer. I also greatly enjoy that the digital age allows me to get some idea of the presented material, so I am not just buying a stereo demonstration record, but something I will actually play.
I agree with the poster regarding Grant Green. I know that jazz critics and purists feel that Grant sold out with his music in the 70’s, but I really like that stuff(and I like his earlier music too)
I enjoy seeing recognition for “Francis A. and Edward K.” It’s an album that deserves more recognition but also suffers from some production issues which reflect themselves in the stereo mix (too many mics used, perhaps). Really wish a remix could be done but at least there are some mono (not fold-down) white label promos still out-and-about in the market, as they sound great overall.
I just got "Alternative Blues", from the new Pablo reissues, and Chad isn't kidding. That's a killer, very holographic LP. Get it. 👽✌️ Hey Chad, when are you going to put out your favorite Free Jazz LP list? 🤭(Inside joke)
100% agree vcp93, ‘The Alternate Blues’ is a heater man, amazing! I plunged in for a Pablo subscription and was super happy to get in under 100 🍻 I’m #93, can’t wait for the next!
Darn, I just got a six LP order from AS today and I wish I'd known about that Gene Ammons album because it sounds great on Apple Music. I also wish that Sinatra & Ellington was available because I'd order it in a heartbeat.
Tape hiss is part of the master. If the original tape's hissy, that should be reflected in the record. If the hiss is filtered or no-noised out then it's no longer a high fidelity record
Both of these labels have great sounding music, they could easily be in a top 20 list, but this was a top 10 list. I'm sure there's probably over 100 records that I could list.
Can anyone recommend a cheap good sounding version greatest hits / you ain’t gonna…jelly roll / Satchmo? Been wanting that one for a long time but no dice. Even ordered from AP for $75 but they oversold.
Some record lovers are missing out when they bypass many of these jazz artists ie. Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Oscar Peterson! Everyone one of those records is “The Golden Age of Jazz recordings!”
We picked these because they were great sounding. I know it's a lot of Ellington and I could've picked 90 other records that are great sounding, but these are the ones I chose that day and feel strongly that they are great sounding jazz albums. We did have a bit of a misleading title - "Chad Kassem's Top Favorite Jazz Albums" that doesn't sound right and it wasn't an accurate description. We've updated the title to be more accurate to what I was trying to showcase.
Really enjoyed “The Alternate Blues”, much better than expected 👍

Hi Kent! Very happy to see you watching our video and enjoying our recommendations. We always appreciate how helpful you are.
amazing Chad. Filled my wishlist with these recommended titles
Chad, please reissue Satchmo plays King Oliver again. Even 33 would be fine.
+1 I would pre-order that today!
@@errolfouquet7381 I WOULD ORDER 2 TODAY! LOL

Great Video Thank you Chad! Awesome Job * Blessings
Those Armstrong records are way overdue for re-issue.
Yep!
If he does reissue them I bet they won't be $40. Probably do them as $150 UHQRs.
Yes!
Would love to see the UHQR treatment.
good evening ellington is one of the most beautiful albums that I can admire, fantastic album
Great suggestions! Thx.
Cant' go wrong with any of these. Looking forward to the new Pablo series.
I played the three Gene Ammons AP records over the past two Sunday mornings, and I think I have another tenor to add to my list of favorites along with Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Don Byas, and Dexter Gordon. Very impressive indeed.
Thanks for the recomendations being trying to widen my disography with more jazz
I am wondering if AP will have the “The alternate Blues” album at Axpona?? 🙏🏻
Yes we did and sold out quickly!
I just got the blue midnight blue note. Last week lol, it sounds sooooooo amazing. A great album🎉🎉
Love this album.
@@acousticsoundsks me too. But I am about through on your Herbie Hancock's Headhunters cut at 45. So🔥🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🔥 but it's all wavy gravy.
One of my personal favorites, such a great sounding record

Can you please reissue Satchmo Plays King Oliver. It’s way overdue
YAS!
I agree 100%!!!!!
@Chad Please give us those 2 albums of Duke and Armstrong.
Find the Mobile Fidelity lp. Picked it up years ago.
I'm trying to get the license for these. It hasn't been easy. Classic Records did them, you might want to try to find those.
Yep, I picked up the MOFI lp decades ago. The MOFI CD is spectacular as well.
Please re license an re release the Satchmo plays King Oliver Chad!
You made a jazz fan out of a "metal head", jazz recordings sound Sooooooo good!😊
my ego was gratified to find I own a couple of the recommended albums . but I don't kid myself, my collection was assembled randomly, so record advice from such a knowable person, to me, is like having John Muir giving me camping tips.

Reissue Satchmo please
My favourite is Ellington meets Hawkins. Killer record.

I love Idle Moments on Blue Note.

Kenny Burrell is great. Another great guitarist I don’t hear enough people talking about is Grant Green.
I just got "Alternative Blues", from the new Pablo reissues, and Chad isn't kidding. That's a killer, very holographic LP. Get it. 👽✌️

Agreed. A little tape hiss never bothered me, especially if it's a great sounding record.
Chad Kassem, thanks for your work, and why not something on vinyl from "Groove Note" and "Chesky Records"???
Both of these labels have great sounding music, they could easily be in a top 20 list, but this was a top 10 list. I'm sure there's probably over 100 records that I could list.
Love your channel and quality vinyls. Looking for rock albums. Not into jazz
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got no swing, thats what satchmo sings
You got my wallet again Chad! 💸 Thanks for the recommendations.
'The Great Reunion' is fantastic, true. That last track.. 'Azalea'
Satchmo plays King Oliver would be a great candidate for an UHQR
It's one of my favorite album.
These are some of the greatest titles I've ever seen or heard. It's unfortunate they quite making jazz 60 years ago.
Chad, comments ask you to repress ‘plays king Oliver. But no has asked. Do you have plans to repress? Thx.

Chad I don’t have Time Out when you going do a contest? Give away!
We're gonna do this soon.
Might want to correct the title of this video.
You're right, we did.
So why not reissue the Satchmo?
You can never disgaree with somones favourites however ...kind of an odd choice for a top 10...
