I really dig how u put the bottom base of your drill press under the ply wood, thats so smart!! I have a Gazebo workshop, not very big , needa draft and plan to rearrange for more space , getting new tools for xmas
I really appreciate that you make the most of your space and you face the same issues most of us have. You don't have the sponsored, air conditioned, sound proofed, festool filled workshop... but you're an average down to earth maker. Seriously a true inspiration to the everyday diy'er! Thank you so much! You've gained a subscriber and my deepest respect!
I love this shop, mine is a one car garage too so I love seen for other’s solutions! I will say it should be a drinking game for home many times wood workers have to justify their choices because you know their are so many judge mental wood workers in the comments trying to tell you their way. Let’s just support the creators!!
You have no idea how similar my shop is set up to yours! Mine is 20' x 30' and still not enough room! Most of my tools are on wheels, I have pretty much the exact same mitre saw set up (didn't want to run the hose either!). The one advantage I have is assembly and outfeed setup. 2-4 x 8 melamine tables on wheels around my SawStop for outfeed, crosscuts and assembly plus 2- 30 inch x 8 foot tables on wheels for moving, planing and jointing material as well as assembly. I'm full time custom cabinetry and woodworking so I need a lot of assembly space. Kudos on your ingenuity, your space is more efficient than mine is, although I do easily fill 2 garbage cans in a day sometimes so having them roam free in the shop is much more efficient for me. Great vid and great use of space!
Great tour Marie i have always liked your workshop from day one, and i have enjoyed all the added on builds, the alterations and the new tools that you have bought for your shop over the years. As for the cold, i have a friend who lives in Ontario and he mentions how cold his shop can be, and he has a wood stove that he lights about an hour before he goes into his shop, and before he does his videos for UA-cam so i can imagine the cold that you get there very well. Stay Safe, Barry (ENG)
My shop is currently a 12’ x 16’ room off of my garage. This video has really given me some great concepts that I can incorporate for myself & inspired me to be better organized and utilize all the space available. I’m in FL & my saving grace is that my shop space is air conditioned. I have designed & built a simple system to slide a door closed & clamp it into place (gasketed) over the A/C return whenever I’m making dust to reduce the burden on my A/C filters.
So impressive. I, too, have a small workspace and I'm very impressed with how much you've managed to fit in yours while still keeping it functional, orderly and attractive. I love the way you present information, too. Nicely done.
Bonjour. Vidéo de qualité comme à votre habitude. Pour votre atelier c'est le rêve de beaucoup de bricoleurs. Votre table de coupe me fait baver d'envie... Sourire. Au plaisir.
It's neater than my garage shop and you can wheel things around better because no fatigue mats.. but your legs must suffer. I put a few mats down and every now and then i roll one up to roll a machine around. Can't live without them though. Nice shop setup and I need to invest in a sawstop like that !
Very nice layout. They say your shop is always a work in process. I too have a small shop and appreciate the way you have things worked out. Thanks for showing.
I'm really glad UA-cam recommended this video to me. You used all the tricks for working in a small space, and it's really inspiring for another person that works in a one car garage. My dust management at the moment is to occasionally open the big door and blast everything with a leaf blower. It's chaos!
Nice layout for a small shop. As you add tools things move around and with each iteration the flow works better every time. I've been rethinking my shop layout for the last month. Thanks for sharing your work space.
I think it's great you are making use of what you have which i have done for years but now am I the process of adding a 750 square foot shop on to my existing garage. However like you, I will make everything mobile
WOW For 2 years I ave been learning from my favorite chef and now I get the best advice from DIY Montreal - Thank you both for your wonderful youtube sites
Great shop and great use of space. I had a small shop like this before. We found the PERFECT house for us last year that had an amazing shop already. It's crazy big... like 30x32. It's AMAZING!! But I need to use the space better. I love how organized and well thought out your shop is. The miter station is great. I have a similar set up but just the frame. Love how you did yours. And I think the trash can is great. Enjoying your channel. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you so munch for the shop tour. You have created an excellent workspace. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos....lots of great ideas for working in a limited space!
That's a lovely workshop! You've given me some good ideas, so thank you for sharing. I have the back of a 1½ car garage (the half bit) that's a work in (very slow) progress. So my table saw is a Bosch job site model that I carry out to the carport. :-) It works enough for me in the Canberra (Australia) climate where "cold" just means "work harder" as opposed to dangerous in Canada. Hot, however means "work earlier" until it means "stop work, it'll wait."
A workshop is ALWAYS a work in progress in my opinion! And while working outside is always nice, I'm not sure the neighbors appreciate it as much as I do, so being inside isn't always a bad thing ;)
I am so impressed. You should be a consultant!!! I have 28’x55’ and can’t make it work this well... until now.. I’ll use any ideas I can get to compact my shop for ergonomic effect.
I just moved from 950 square for shop that I had for 30 yrs ( imagine the accumulation of tools and junk) into a 200 square ft shop . Everything is mobile and in wall cabinets and I share a small 2 car garage with my wife's car. There was a big learning curve for both of us.
Nice job setting things up to work for you. Your mind is always working to figure out ways to make things more efficient or find room more another tool. I built my current shop 3 years ago from the ground up. AC and Heat was a must here in the Midwest. Yes it cost a few more pennies but allows me to go out at anytime and go right to work. I even set aside a spray booth room, something I see missing in many shops on UA-cam. You have created a nice shop to have fun creating things. Get yourself a lathe and add another dimension to your skills. Keep having fun and enjoy your shop!
Nice! A spray booth would be awesome if I had a little more room. And a lathe... maybe one day. For now I'm still working on mastering the tools I've already got ;)
Ciao. Il tuo video mi ha ospirato tantissime belle idee. Anche io ho più macchinari che metri quadrati e la disposizione del tuo lab è fantastica. Ho copiato tante soluzioni, Davvero geniali. Grazie
Wow ! What a great practical space you’ve created, so many ingenious solutions too. The mitre saw dust collection cupboard looks very good indeed, I may have to borrow that idea as I’ve tried all sorts of things, none of which has really worked! I will check out more of your films, they’re really well done 👏👍😀. Hope you have a fantastic 2023, Cheers from the UK . 😀👍
Very efficient use of space and extremely well organised. I am much inspired by your workshop which will help me finally sort out my own! A big thank you from the village of Oakley, Hampshire (England)
Wow! Amazing space use and great thoughts on jigs etc. I lived in the Montreal area for 5 years and my poor shop missed me most of the winter. Now I’m back on the west coast but living in a condo and my tools live with my daughter and son-in-law, but at least I have visitation privileges. Keep on making these amazing videos, so glad I found your channel.
Another thing you might want to consider to gain some more usable space is to have your garage door rehung so the horizontal part of the track is a lot closer to the ceiling. Or maybe swap out garage door for a barn door style door (two doors with hinges on left/right that meet in the middle. That would eliminate tracks altogether.
Great ideas. Messy shops are not safe shops. The chop-saw back-up is ideal. Nothing throws chips and dust like a chop-saw. Again, nice shop and enjoy your woodworking projects.
Great video and one little tip even tho im sure you might have had someone else suggest it already but being in south shore of mtl, i also have cold winter :P my solution to for glue and finish is a cabinet with a heat lamp hooked up to a thermostat that turn the lamp on when it reach 10celcius and stop when its at 15 celcius, keeping the cabinet at a good temp during the night when i lower the heat until the morning
Hey thanks, some really cool stuff here. So, I'm in CO and had to consider paints glues and finishes freezing as well. What I did (and this is cheap!) was take a small heatmat for plant starts and install it in a tightly sealing cabinet, so that none of my shit freezes. Thermostats can be used here to good effect, so that it doesn't get too hot or run unnecessarily. Anyway, I'm gonna finish watching now. Thanks!
You're a real inspiration to me, Marie. I'm a senior with some physical limitations but I do have a small shop about the size of yours. I'm always watching your videos. I'm currently building your router table. Thank you for your great work.
Excellent! I've loved watching your videos and all you share with us. You do such great work and your creativity comes shining through. The last video I watched from you I kept thinking "Man I hope she does a shop tour because boy has her shop changed since I first started watching!". And then ta-da.....here it is. lol. Thanks for your dedication to this channel. You're greatly appreciated. Sending well wishes from California.
I built an insulated "hotbox" for my mobile workshop trailer using a small heater hooked to an InkBird thermostat. It works great to keep my liquids from freezing in the winter. This could be a solution for your shop. I enjoyed the video.
Hi I just watched your shop tour and I will say you have done a fantastic job. I was very impressed with how you have everything organized. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for sharing your work space with us. its kinda small but it confirms, ''where there is the will, there is the way''. it need a lot of efforts to make everything fit in a smaller space....with large work spaces, anyone can easily manage. You did a great job in giving so much in limited space. So much available to learn from you. thank you so much ...:-)). Be blessed...:-))
Thanks for the tour. I've just moved into my new house and have a 14'x32.5' shop that I'm trying to figure out how to get my mind around where everything will go. I did have it wired for 220 and my 1st purchase was a Sawstop PCS 36' 3 hp saw. I got it all set up, however I'm waiting on a dust collection system to cut my 1st board. I found your channel from the outfeed table you built, and love the fact that you built it on a saw horse and plywood stand. One of the 1st builds in my shop (this week while I'm off from work) is an outfeed/work bench and your build is exactly what I was thinking of. I'll be buying your plans and you've got a new subscriber.
WOW!!! Great organization.... My shop is 720 square feet and I can't even find an empty space. Granted, along with woodwork I use my plasma cutter, a couple of welders, gas cutting materials, ammunition reloading - storing and working on weapons. :)
I saw this mitre station video and liked the simplicity of not having the side guides that would take up the counter top space. Then, I watched a gentleman from England explain why you might NOT want those side wings/guides. If an eight foot long piece of stock were even slightly warped, the side guide would keep it from being flush on the saw table where it must be in order to get a proper cut. Not having those side guides permits the longer, possibly slightly curved piece to be cut using the in-top stop as you’ve used here. I didn’t want to lose the counter top functionality and your system solves that. Even with removable wings, your system is more functional and equally as accurate. Great job. I also thought a tape track could be routed out just in front of the track and inset. As you have it, it’s very useful.
Brilliantly efficient - my shop is also single-car garage ..... if only we had bigger cars in the UK, it's only about 8 feet x 17 feet - but like you most tools where possible are on wheels (oh and it also has to store my bicycle workbench and tool-board and 3 bicycles hanging up too) - I have the same air scrubber, and a home-made dust extraction system with pipes running around the wall and about 6 blast-gates. Compact is the word!
Lol how do you fit a car in there?! 😂 This just goes to show it's all relative... People with giant shops wouldn't know how to make it work like we people with more modest spaces 😉
Hai un laboratorio invidiabile: io lavoro in una cantina di 5mt x 2mt, alta 2mt. Piccolissima ma è tutto ciò di cui posso disporre. Copierò certamente alcune idee. Brava! Hai organizzato tutto molto bene. Riguardati ed in bocca al lupo. Continuo a seguirti
Nice floor plan and organization. I will be using a two-car garage, but will have to convert both side walls in order to fit the car. Everything on wheels for me as well! I will have to insulate - Minnesota winters are tough.
Thanks for the tour! For the first time ever, I have a dedicated workshop in the house we just built and it is about the same size as yours. You've got a lot of great ideas that I plan to steal (with complete acknowledgement of course!). Love your channel!
Thank you the video! I like the layout of you workshop! I think my favorite part of it is most of you tools are on wheels, and your drill press section! Nice work! 👍🏼 😊
You did a nice job of making use of your limited shop space efficiently. You obviously put a lot of thought into it before starting to build it. I especially like the sliding front panels on your miter saw station...an idea I had not seen before.
If you think a 1 car garage is a small shop. Try a 7x7 patio with an old octagon dining table for a workbench and tool stand. Cart out each tool as needed and set it up on the table. Natural dust evacuation (outdoors). No heat in winter and no A/C in summer.
Marie, you have been a tremendous inspiration to me!! My single car garage is about the same size as yours. I made my router table/cabinet and flip top table from your plans and I'm definitely going to refer to your video for the drill press table. I hadn't thought about connecting another hose to my dust collection using blast gates. Thanks again!!
That is awesome! The 2 hoses on the dust collector with blast gates has made using dust collection for my tools so much easier. I highly recommend this setup for a small shop.
Thanks for the tour. It has given me some great ideas on how to do things. I also remember your more earlier, less elegant beginnings. I envy you on your new bandsaw.
Just goes to show a setup like this doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and figuring out what works and what doesn't. A never ending work in progress!
Great, loved this tour. Very well organised shop and not cluttered at all (except for the woodstore perhaps, but that can't be helped!). Loved that everything is on wheels. Great idea with the extending support for the mitre saw. I've watched 100's of shop tours and I've never seen that before. Thanks for sharing , you've given me some ideas :)
Very nice workshop, I'm glad to see you were able to improve it so nicely over the past couple of years. It takes many years to build a workshop! I've been at it for over 50 years, and still adding tools to it. :)
Nice shop ,I think there's more small wood shops then giant wood shops ,mine is also tiny but warms up nicely in the winter with my woodstove plus you have to be more creative in small spaces for tool arrangements.Nice job Marie👍
@@DIYMontreal No worries I have my tools connected to a dust collector so there's minimal dust floating around . One thing I miss is my old shop dog (no longer with me )that would lye her fat butt in front of the woodstove and wouldn't move for anything lol Or a cat for cat people 😊
I feel like I've looked at 100 garage size show set ups as I get ready to build a 10' x 20' woodshop. This is the ONLY one I've seen that makes sense and made me say WOW multiple times. For all those friends who told me I'll never fit everything in such a small shop...HA! Take a look at this.
DIY Montreal, Marie a great tour!! So encouraging to see you make it work in a 12x21 space! I’m currently reworking my 1 car garage to be more efficient and my space is very comparable!
Hi from Ireland, I absolutely love the sliding doors on the mitre saw dust extraction unit. It's the first I've seen like this and I am heading to my workshop now to measure up for an identical one. Great informative video, keep em coming. Keith
Ha! I have two of those same dehumidifiers and one of that little heater you had tucked along side the dehumidifier! Solid units, but it’s really noticeable on my electric bill during the summer while running them (I run them to help my AC run better) anyhow, I’m turning a 13’x32’ space in my basement into a wood shop. Thanks for the video!
I really wish you'd stop saying your shop is so small. I am only 6min in and already 10 times! It really isn't so small and many many many of wood workers work in a smaller shop than yours. I just finished my build and it is 8X14 w/8' ceilings and upper storage. I would love to have a shop as big as yours. I remembered seeing a video of yours a couple months ago and I liked not only your shop but, you as well and took me 2 nights to finally find your channel. Subscribed.
Nicely organized! Love the mitre saw/drill press, planer/sander station. I’m sure you’ve probably considered it, but if you setup the SawStop router table wing on your table saw, you could park your bandsaw in the router table nook. The other option is to modify the height of you current router table so it can park under your table saw extension table. A more ambitious idea is to mirror your mitre saw bench with an additional L-shape bench on the opposite side of the shop to integrate your bandsaw, table saw and router table. Your firewood could stack in current router table alcove, all your lumber on the end wall if stored vertically. I’m sure you’ll figure it out given how impressively you’ve organized your space thus far.
I solved the freezing glue and finishes problem by putting a frost guard heater in an old fridge. It keeps a constant 10 degrees celcius in there in the winter with very low energy useage
My garage is a little bit bigger than yours, but multipurpose wood working/power carving/mechanics/storage. Dust is a huge issue, especially power carving. Your setup is amazing. Looking forward to the next video.

Love how you made your drawer dividers. Very efficient build.

I am in the process of trying to turn my garage into a small shop. You’ve given me some hope and inspiration. Thanks for the tour!
My pleasure! Hope you picked up a few tips to help you in your space.
You are so clear and efficient in your videos! Thank you for constantly teaching me new ways to solve problems!

I'm always intrigued by people who have a wood stove in their shop/garage...! Sounds nice :)
Literally have almost an identical sized single car garage where I work on my projects. Awesome to see someone else making it work! Good job.
Gotta make the best with what we have! And I consider myself lucky to at least have this dedicated space 🙂
My shop is currently a 12’ x 16’ room off of my garage. This video has really given me some great concepts that I can incorporate for myself & inspired me to be better organized and utilize all the space available. Gal from Ohio here. I am absolutely jealous of the whole shop! Especially that sawstop!! Everything functional, looks awesome!
So impressive. I, too, have a small workspace and I'm very impressed with how much you've managed to fit in yours while still keeping it functional, orderly and attractive. I love the way you present information, too. Nicely done.
30 seconds into this video I feel there's hope for my tiny garage. You made great use of your limited space.
Bonjour.
Finally someone with the shop of normal size :)
Now I have about 250sqft and share it with my brother, previous was 150 sqft. Happy woodworking
One day I'll buy a barn or build a warehouse or something 😉

Thanks!

The way you hid the bottom of the drill press is pretty great. I am borrowing this idea for sure.
I built an insulated "hotbox" for my mobile workshop trailer using a small heater hooked to an InkBird thermostat. It works great to keep my liquids from freezing in the winter. This could be a solution for your shop.
I enjoyed the video.
I built your lumber cart and it works really well. I like how neat and organized your shop is and hopefully one day mine will look like that too.
Hi I just watched your shop tour and I will say you have done a fantastic job. I was very impressed with how you have everything organized. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!
I absolutely love your little shop! You have given me a lot of great ideas for my shop when I retire soon!
thanks for sharing your work space with us. its kinda small but it confirms, ''where there is the will, there is the way''. it need a lot of efforts to make everything fit in a smaller space....with large work spaces, anyone can easily manage.
Thanks for the amazing tour and ideas!
Miter saw extension, stops and dust cabinet were brilliant.
The drill press table is crazy cool simple
Very nice, I also have a small shop like this, I suggest adding a mini split with a heat pump for AC and heat
Tempat kerja yang bersih dan rapih. Impian setiap tukang kayu. Salam dari tukang kayu Indonesia 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Sliding doors on the dust shroud. Brilliant!
Love it . Your garage is still 3 foot wider than a standard British single garage. Still doable
That's all the space you need. My shop is in a two car garage, and we still park both vehicles in there even with the tools.
"... but, you're in the way". so good. signed in just so I could like
Great shop which reflects years of work on your part. I have a 16x20 shop and you have given me some great ideas. You still need more clamps :)
Haha always more!!!
I love it! Thank you for that. I'm about to move from a three car to a single car wood shop.
Nice to she a woman running her shop Love the Way you describe what you’redoing the tools -I have a pullout for trash in my Kitchen 😉🥰
Awesome organizational skills! and efficient too! 2 thumbs up! Thanks for sharing your ideas.
Wood stove in the shop! 😯 One day maybe I'll insulate it... But don't want to give up the square footage!
@@DIYMontreal No worries I have my tools connected to a dust collector so there's minimal dust floating around .
One thing I miss is my old shop dog (no longer with me )that would lye her fat butt in front of the woodstove and wouldn't move for anything lol
Or a cat for cat people 😊
I feel like I've looked at 100 garage size show set ups as I get ready to build a 10' x 20' woodshop. This is the ONLY one I've seen that makes sense and made me say WOW multiple times. For all those friends who told me I'll never fit everything in such a small shop...HA! Take a look at this.
This is the ideal layout that I would look into as a source of reference..as my newly constructed woodshop measured 14x27 👍👍
DIY Montreal, Marie a great tour!! So encouraging to see you make it work in a 12x21 space! I’m currently reworking my 1 car garage to be more efficient and my space is very comparable!
Have fun! It takes time, slowly but surely, you'll get there!
Hi from Ireland,
I absolutely love the sliding doors on the mitre saw dust extraction unit. It's the first I've seen like this and I am heading to my workshop now to measure up for an identical one. Great informative video, keep em coming.
Keith
I enjoyed your tour and think you did a great job with such a little space. I will look forward to more of your videos.
That may explain why my electric bill always seems so high to me 😂
@@DIYMontreal that’ll do it! I want to say that they run at the 1,000 Watt range. Don’t quote me though. Thanks for the informative vids!
Subscribed.
You are the most cool Lady, I've ever seen! With respect from Qazaqstan!♥️🇰🇿
Love it!!!! Checked out so many videos and yet you explain thing s SO well and without a big head, appreciate you! Will be watching!
Cheers!!
Very inspiring. I have a 19 x26 ft shop and am not nearly as organized.
Thanks, I take great pride in my space and can honestly say it's a never ending work in progress!
Merci Marie. Bonjour de la Nouvelle Zélande. Brilliant use of space there. Interesting to see how you adapt to the challenges of climate and space.
Merci! Of course insulating + AC would be best, but this simple and rather economical solution is working for now. Cheers!
Trust me, you have a BIG shop!
Amazed how you keep it so clean.
LOL I clean it just for you guys ;-)
Very nice looking shop in a small space, very close to the size of my garage which I’m contemplating turning into a shop. Wheels are your friends.
My garage is a little bit bigger than yours, but multipurpose wood working/power carving/mechanics/storage.
Dust is a huge issue, especially power carving. Your setup is amazing.
Looking forward to the next video.
Yikes, it must get dust indeed! Hopefully you can open up the garage door most of the year... Thanks!
Excellent use of space.
You have worked in some fantastic ideas (that sliding extension is genius).
Very impressed with excellent use of limited space.
Having planks next to the table is so simple, but most do not think about it
Nice setup. Lots of tools despite a small space. Nice ideas and inspiration for my 15 x 12 basement shop... Thanks for sharing! Merci!
That's huge! 😉 Kidding aside, you should be able to do something great with that space. Good luck!
I like your woodshop. My favorite part is the miter saw station. I don't have a space for a woodshop but I am working on it. Thanks for sharing.
