I want to thank you. I have never had a huge amount of self-esteem. Being born with a disability really damaged my view of myself at an early age. I had gotten to a place in my inner self where I was comfortable with ME, even if not over the top confident, until I met someone and was in a relationship for almost 5 years. I was treated ok but I suffered a lot of mental abuse the last 3 years of our life together. I really got to a place where I completely hated myself. For the first time in my life I actually hated ME. It's a very awful feeling and I just didn't know HOW to pull myself up out of the hole I was in. Until the day I started watching makeup tutorials on UA-cam. I'm not just saying this, but YOU are one of my very favorites and one of the reasons I kept coming back and pushing forward. Now I apply my makeup nearly every day and I AM feeling much better but not a 100% yet. I really want you to know that I'm very grateful for you and this video. I have never heard any of the others I watch touch on this subject at all and I think it has the potential to help a lot of people. On a happier note, I have LOVED this eyeshadow palette and have been drooling over it since you first shared it with us. Your finished look is amazing! ❤

Thank you Nisha. Growing up I was mentally abused and its always there, but I try to push it to the back of my mind. I never used to wear makeup as I thought I wasn't worth it. I started watching UA-cam mainly you and started to try. Mainly if I was going somewhere special, but now I put some on just to go to the shop. I sitting here today not going anywhere and I have put a full face on and I fill better about myself. Thank you again, you inspire me and you have made me fill better about myself. Stay fabulous, lots of love xx

Helen Taviner I identified with your comment and feelings !
I've been on a healing and recovery journey.. coming to learn that both my parents were Narcissistic, broken children ,who grew to be broken people .. my inner core was ignored and broke my esteem. They had good hearts.. deep down , but broken begets broken. I'm healing and breaking the cycle ! I appreciate remembering ...that, just because they said it .. dosn't make it true !
      Set yourself free !!! 💛

I agree with EVERYTHING you said!! This was an enjoyable reminder to keep things in perspective. Life isn't always easy, but trusting yourself, remembering who you are on the inside, and presenting yourself on the outside in a way that honors and respects that inner person, is what is important!!

Definitely important what you are told as a child its the building block for your future confidence and self esteem. My mom did me proud always built me up, but also tought me to be kind and thoughtful to others. Now at 56 its my turn to teach my granddaughter to love who she is and be thoughtful to others.

What a wonderful video, thank you for making it. I agree with you on the “being too old to wear that” topic. Women so often allow societal expectations to dictate their fashion. I say wear whatever makes you feel beautiful and attractive no matter your age. I overheard my grandkids talking to a visiting friend the other day and I was the topic of conversation. They all decided that I’m not the usual kind of granny and seemed awestruck by that. I took that as a compliment. 😂

I enjoyed this GRWM. Great topic! People get hung up on age. It is just a number. A person can be old at 30 and another be young at 60. It is a state of mind and the self esteem and self confidence determines that. I agree with you completely.

You are absolutely right about your feelings when it comes to the people who make ridiculous statements about what we are too old to wear, whether its in regards to our hair , shoes or clothing. These are people who have been in an environment that restricts just about everything for everyone and they can’t seem to help themselves. They simply repeat what they’ve been told their entire lives and they never question it. I personally have long, silver and grey hair and I’m past 60 years old. I thought about cutting it but the thoughts were brief. My husband loves my long hair and especially loves it color now and he continues to tell me daily how beautiful I am and how much he loves me. His opinion matters to me and not anyone else’s and certainly not the opinion of the Rule Keepers. I wear what makes me feel good and what looks good on me, not what some faceless rule-maker said I should or shouldn’t wear. I so appreciate other women who do the same.

Yes and AMEN to everything you said. I’m working on improving my self confidence. I know I look good, take care of myself etc., but it can be really hard to be a 60 year old woman in a world that puts such an incredible emphasis on YOUTH and looking perfect. Thanks for doing this video as it helps us all remember what is really important. No one stays 25 forever. I’m aiming to be the best 60 year old ME that I can be. 👍💕

Hi Nisha, what a beautiful video, thank you!
I am confident in myself in my job (medical biller) and my life. Yes not everything is working out as I hoped but I have faith it will work out. My self esteem was low at one point but yes, as I have gotten older (48 Yrs old) I have gained more self esteem. Your right, I don't care if someone likes me now, I have a few close friends, my husband is wonderful. I am me and that's enough!
    Have a great day!!

I have more self-esteem at 66 than I did when I was young. I was spoiled and self-centered as a young woman, but I've matured into a caring person who is happiest when I make other people happy. Like Christopher Allen says (here on UA-cam), "Kindness is free. Give it to everyone". Thank you for a heartfelt video, Nisha.

Hello Nisha, Thank you so much for this video! It spoke to me in so many ways! I’m 55 and I have a wonderfully beautiful and more importantly beautiful on the inside 33 year old daughter and I have 2 wonderful grandsons. It is important to make time for yourself. That doesn’t make you selfish or vain. It’s part of taking care of the family. We as women are strong in so many ways. I feel better about myself when my hair, makeup, and clothes look nice. My husband tells me all the time I’m beautiful no matter whether I’m wearing makeup or not. I really just want to say how much I agree with what you have to say. Especially about being kind and complimenting others. It makes such a difference. You never know what people are going through and that one compliment may help someone make it through another day! Thanks again and please keep doing your wonderful videos. I love your sense of style and have bought many clothing items from looking at how awesome they look on you!❤️

Excellent Nisha!!! I am 62 and I dress to please myself! My personal opinion of people that try and say what is age appropriate are the ones with the problem...problem number one they are control freaks...problem number 2...they lack self confidence. I think you have a great sense of style, and you keep it classy. People who are critical of everything lack self-esteem maybe because someone was very critical of them as they were growing up. I'm a retired teacher :), and I tried to teach my students that you don't have to say every thought that comes into your head. If it isn't nice and useful, don't say it. We should try to build each other up instead of trying to tear each other down. I've noticed that women are being more negative towards other women these days. That is so sad to me.

I completely agree with you that women should wear the makeup and clothes that make them feel good and express who they are, without regard to age. And everything else that you said! So much good insight and advice. Your videos express so much more than makeup and are so supportive of women, that is why we love them. The makeup colors in this video are beautiful, too! I’m afraid I can’t offer anything more than what you said as I agree with all of it. It did take years to grow my self esteem and confidence. As you said, work to improve yourself and remove negativity, find things you enjoy to stay busy and know that you are enough. With life experience confidence does grow. Know that attitude is more important than circumstances, it’s not failure that defines you but how you respond to it. Also, take time for you, in some fashion, to relax and do something you love, to help maintain your happiness and positive outlook. Finally, when times have been really hard, I’ve stayed positive knowing “this too will pass” and that it could always be worse. (Car broken down? Some don’t have a car. Etc.)

I appreciate your videos so much Nisha. I’m ‘middle aged’ and work at home. In my teens I was always experimenting with and fascinated by makeup. That hasn’t changed. I’m still a makeup buying junkie but I’ve gotten lazy and out of practice with application and the new eyeshadow colors are so gorgeous like the new Too Faced Natural Lust I just got but I just didn’t know what to do with them till I found your videos. Your before and after vivid eye makeup is amazing and you look gorgeous. I don’t have blue eyes, mine are hazel green, so I use mauves and plums more to emphasize the green. My eye shape is more round but with age the outer corner upper lids are getting droopy so your 7 has helped so much and your application videos have inspired me to not fear trying some more dramatic looks than my usual safe neutral shades. I still have trouble with applying a subtle winged eyeliner like you do with my round shaped eyes but just wanted to say thank you from one makeup junkie to another from across the pond! 💕

It is of course very healthy to like yourself but sometimes it is difficult especially for people who have body image issues, etc. It is a very fickle world we live in but trying to present yourself in the best possible way does help so much and like you say, surround yourself with positive people who make you feel good about yourself and life in general.

It's about your own identity, it's so important. My father had dementia and nurses thought they could dress him like a tramp, jogging bottoms etc my father always wore designer shirts, trousers, shoes every day. After much discussion with the nurses about my father's identity and how comfortable it makes him feel wearing clothes that show the world who he is. After that very heated discussion, they always made sure he was dressed as he wanted to be dressed. Not dressed a way that made their job easier. Never lose your own identity, or you lose your self. Thank you so much for your advice chat xxxx

Interesting subject Nisha.I feel life experiences determine self esteem levels I have always been confident.I have more than I need materialistically. What I don't have is my health and no amount of money can buy me my health back.Howevet being chronically ill has taught me so much.I have time to watch, research, listen and learn. Most people don't have time nowadays.A good gauge of self esteem is being happy with ones own company.I agree regarding negative people.I have dropped everyone who ever tried to bring me down.I dance to my own drum and always have. Its those who are eternal people pleasers who are jealous because they spend their lives worrying what others think.I feel sorry for people like that.I enjoy these chats Nisha, well done to bring them up.💗🌼💄👒👗👛👠👜👡💋🍋💟

Nisha, I absolutely agree with you on the whole idea of dressing or looking appropriate for your age! I am 73 and like to dress trendy, but stylish. If someone thinks I look "inappropriate" then I always think, well how do they think I should dress??? All that you said is very true! I think some people think aging they don’t need to look good because they are no longer working. I was paid a very nice compliment because I answered the question telling something about myself the group didn’t know. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 59 years. This person came up to me at a latter meeting and said “. I was calculating how how you are & I told her 77 and she responded that I was aging very gracefully “, I wear makeup everyday, and I am around good people, and I dress nicely. I think people don’t usually guess my age because I have fun with most things I do and I have a very positive attitude. Age is just a number! Thanks 🙏

Thank you so much for talking about this topic. It really made me sit and really think about myself. Lately I’ve been feeling that I wish I had the $$ to get Botox and a boob job. I have really had a hard time dealing with those issues. I’m in aw of you because you are able to do botox and I’m in aw of others who are able to have things done. I hope one day I will be able to do this for myself. I would feel so much better about myself. I have always felt I wasn’t skinny enough, didn’t have beautiful enough skin, smart enough in other words everything. I come from a wonderful family who are very confident and self esteem and unfortunately I didn’t get that. My mom has always been so positive, loving and compliments me a lot even when I was a young little girl. My mom had me see a counselor to find out and learn how to teach myself to be confident and have self esteem. I still have my journals. I still write in them now. I love being with my hubby, family and friends. I’m the happiest with them but I still have these issues. All I can do is keep working and being happy that I have such wonderful, caring, loving ppl around me. I hope this makes sense I’m at work and I wanted to comment. I can say this I feel good about myself helping others. I’m a Pediatrician assistant in the ER of our hospital. I love being around children. Knowing I’m making a difference in their lives and their parents. This video was wonderful. Thank you Nisha.

Hi. Love your topic of conversation. I do struggle with both, you're so right about being kind to children. I was told many negative comments during my formative years. Its sad how those comments affect us later on. I truly enjoy your confidence. Love your pretty make up look. Thank you!

Enjoyed hearing your viewpoint on this subject, Nisha. It's one I've discussed with friends too. What often emerges is how do we manage to overcome the negativity that others can induce in us; the doubt others can make us feel. If it were simply a matter of walking away we may all do that, but life isn't that simple. It'd be good to hear how you deal with negativity in particular, as so much of modern life, social media etc encourages it. I'd enjoy hearing your take on this. Thank you!

Hi Nisha, I liked the video, thanks. I also put on some weight in the last few years and I am not too happy with it. It’s hard to loose it when you are older. In regards to how ppl dress I agree so much with you. Let people be themselves, whatever they like to wear, if it makes them happy.
Btw you always look so beautiful. I would love if you do more videos on hair specificly hair Add ons or extensions.
    Much love

Hi Nisha, What a fantastic video! This really struck a cord with me. I so agree that self esteem comes from inside and increases as we like and love ourselves in a balanced way. As we grow in self esteem we take better care of ourselves and our confidence grows!
I compliment others all the time
It comes quite natural for me to do so because it is genuine. I really enjoy seeing the smile on their face or the pep in their step.
It is so important who we surround ourselves with and better to be alone if you can't find support around you. You can be your own best friend, cheer yourself on and become a better person all by yourself if you don't have love and support in your life. It may be lonely and a struggle but you can do it!
I loved what you said about being enough!! No one has every said that to me but isn't that something worthwhile to instill in our children, friends, partners etc. And ourselves...that is something we should all start saying to ourselves!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this topic! I would love to see you do a video on how to be your own best friend!
Beautiful makeup look today. I am so glad I got this pallette it is just lovely. I so adore you because of you being you!!! Much love from your southern friend, Julie in North Carolina💕💕💕💕

Loved the statements about who decides what we can wear/look at whatever age! It's exactly as you say, it's about self expression!! If you are being criticized about what you wear or how you express yourself by someone who is saying "you're too old" then I'm thinking that they are too young or too old and have already been "stifled" into those stereotypes! Break out of that ladies!! Be who YOU want to be!!!!

I love the look. Love your hair up with some hanging down the sides. I agree with your definitions. I am on the fence as to where self esteem comes from or how it gets lost. Seems it is different for everyone. Happy to see all these videos this week Nisha, thank you 🧡😘

Absolutely agree with everything you said Nisha. I’m never confident enough and never leave comments but I wanted to say that you are a breath of fresh air, clever & beautiful inside and out. I have low self esteem because of my upbringing but I am now confident of my ability as a woman of 43. I am good at my job, being a wife and a mum. You can change and grow but low self esteem is always lingering about in the back of my mind. I also can’t accept compliments lol

Yes, I totally agree with this Nisha. Negative comments and people who just try to bring you down all the time, or play mind games with you - these people have to go, even if you just have few friends/associates.

Nisha, people who are critical of you or what you wear are jealous, period! I'm older than you and i wear whatever i want, now i don't wear short- shorts or a mini skirt, but i wear outfits similar to what you wear, like you say it's how we feel on the inside....i love your videos, and i really liked this chat, you're a doll, Nisha 💕...have a bless week!💕

You're such a lovely person Nisha! Great points you covered. I've been blessed with both attributes you are talking about. I just can't understand why people who watch your videos criticize you! Personally, they are unhappy people. I think you are darling! (love your makeup look today/lips too) I will be 65 in a week, and I still get up everyday, do my hair, makeup and get dressed as if I were going somewhere! I've always done this. (although I did work and did then too) Thank you for such a well thought out video and presentation. Always look forward to your videos. xo Paula

Thanks Nisha, I honestly can say I have very low self confidence, which I think come from my low self esteem. I try every morning by using makeup to make myself feel better....sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Hopefully one day I can work towards feeling better about myself. This video had lots of great tips. Lots of love

Excellent video Nisha!!! I have struggled with low self esteem but as I age I am 58 I take good care of myself and I wear what I want to wear!!!! I have a close friend who sometimes makes negative comments Like "You sure know all the tricks' and I find myself not wanting to be around this person even though we have a long history of friendship. But I do feel the need to distance myself from her at times ;"(( Thank you for this video!!!

Hi Nisha I got ready with you this morning but only just having chance to comment😁 everything you said is 100% correct this last year for me has been a Turning point in my life since I turned 50. I’ve always had confidence but self esteem has been up and down. For instance after having babies and being over weight along with hormones I was probably at my lowest even thou i have always always made the effort in other areas with makeup and clothes I found it very hard to go out and exercise with having 4 kids but now they’re older I have much more time for me and have exercised more consistently than ever before and due to my new toned shape I feel better than ever at nearly 51 I have more energy more zest and am generally the happiest I’ve been for years and with my new found self esteem has come lots of benefits my husband is happier Cos I’m happier and it’s a fabulous feeling. I’m so much like you I don’t receive compliments very well but I’ve always been told I make those around me feel better about themselves Cos I’ve always got something good to say about them and it makes their day. Only the other day a friend complimented my top and I Find it so hard to just say thankyou so I said oh it was only such and such a price but I think it’s my way of saying oh look just buy one Cos it wasn’t expensive I’m just trying to spread the word it doesn’t have to cost the earth to look nice 😁 I don’t get the age appropriate thing either I do think people say it out of their own lack of self esteem Cos like you say unless you’ve got a skirt up to your knickers and the whole of your cleavage hanging out why is anything too young for anyone and if some one does want to dress like that that’s up to them anyway 🤷‍♀️ great video Nisha loved it ❤️

You are blooming amazeballs, FAB Fab FBBBB!
l am confident, much more as I've got older.
I've done the reverse regarding makeup, l (personally) used it as a barrier and being dependant upon makeup to make me more confident. So now I've reduced my makeup for work. My playtime/ Date night I'd wear more.

Great discussion and I would add that my self esteem has increased when I challenge myself to go out of my comfort zone. Most recently, it is using the gym machines when the gym is full of men and I feel intimidated. The occasional bit of eye candy is a bonus to this 57 year old 😂 btw, I also tried those Perspex shoes you got at Zara. I’m not sure of them because I have a really high instep, but totally agree with the do what makes you happy principle. 😘😘😘

I have a friend who is close to 80 years old and will wear a sassy top with leather pants and heals to a party. I love her confidence and style and hope to be as sassy at her age. I will only give my style opinion to one of my sistes if needed. And they will do the same for me...lol. but that is it. Never spread negativity. I was once too fat..then I was to skinny. I've come to realize..I have to be happy with myself. Great message...thank you. Xoxox

I agree, I loved being 32 it was a reallt good time in my life, I'm now 63 and I haven't changed in the person I am. With age I have gained more confidence and self-esteem. I love makeup and I'm sure there are people who think I wear too much, but that's me and I do for myself although my husband does like it too.

Great chat! I’m the opposite. If I see a woman or man wearing trendy fashion I think nothing of it. It’s the ladies and gentlemen who clearly don’t try or haven’t brushed their hair or looked in the mirror. I feel for those individuals. Especially beautiful mature women who just give up in terms of appearance. I think “I wonder what they are going through, I wonder if they are happy?” No shame in those that don’t wear makeup etc...it’s the ones who try to hide purely through looking bland and unkempt.

I also got my self esteem from my mother, unfortunately, my good came from her bad. My mom was in a couple of abusive relationships from my age 9 to around 16. I saw my mom beat, and abused many times, many times we had to run and hide for hours but seeing my mom go through that, I vowed to myself that I would Never, EVER let a man put a hand on me! I loved myself too much to ever let that happen and I knew I deserved nothing but respect from a man. In fact, when I got old enough, around 16, I was strong enough and had enough confidence to intervene for my mom, it wasent long before she was out of the abusive relationships and finally learned to love herself enough. That was many years ago, I have a wonderful husband of 30 years (so does my mom), we've argued and fought but never hurt each physically or mentally. I hope I've raised my 4 kids (2 boys 2 girls ) to have the same confidence, to know they have self worth and deserve respect from everyone, as well as give it. And I think I have done that with my kids. People, love yourself enough, you are worth it!
