Just got 12.6.1 on my HW3 car. I like it a lot better than previous versions. Now, city streets it's been very good. On the freeway, it has been amazing. Just amazing. BTW, the new Model Y Juniper is up for sale in the US of A, ETA March.
The other day I took my wife's Lexus for a hardware store run. As I approached the first turn at the bottom of the hill, I had an "oh crap" moment when I realized that the car was not going to slow down on its own. With v13 FSD the car can back out of the garage and out onto the street and do so in the safest way given the restricted sight lines, then straighten out and flawlessly drive to the hardware store. In the Lexus my head needed to be swivel mounted just to get safely into the correct lane.
For me, FSD 13.2 on my driveway, it will fail 25% the time when reversing on to the street. It doesn’t seem to take the right curb / walkway into account when reversing (starts to turn too soon - sometimes it will stop detecting obstruction and other times I need to takeover to not hit the curb while car is reversing). So as easy as this may seem to do, it’s not fully solved yet for all cases yet.
@@kkulkulkan5472 I've had a couple of failures as well and for no obvious reason. No problems with the turn but that might be because there are plantings right down to the curb (no sidewalk). It is not good at parking in big lots, failures include walkways and handicapped spaces. It does parallel park very nicely.

21:30 i agree with your thoughts on lane-centering biasing the inside of a bend in the road. I'd imagine the main reason is to account for any potential loss in grip, due to wind, water, gravel, etc. If any slip is present at high speed when taking a bend, the car's inertial force will pull it straight, causing it to leave the curved lane. If the car is hugging the inside bend, though, it will have more of a buffer to regain grip before it could leave the lane. I think people naturally do this, too. Not just because it's the "fastest path", but it's also the safest way to drive, in a sense

Good to see you again! It’s been a while. I’ve been busy testing 13.2.4 in my new Cybertruck, but I saw you have 13.2.5, so I had to see what’s different about it. Nothing that I could see! We don’t have speed bumps around here in northern Idaho. The rest of your drive matches my experience with 2 dot 4. I will watch for your next vid. Be well.
Great videos. I seem to be one or two versions behind you. 12.6.1. Definitely some good enhancements but still some annoyances. Still some phantom breaking and not recognizing speed limits. Biggest issue for me is 90% of the interface in these cars is through the multi-function screen. So why does it keep warning me if I change the radio station or change seat heat or temp while FSD engaged. Anytime I look at that screen it warns me if FSD is engaged. I’m not watching a video I’m trying to change something I can’t do through the yoke. It has to be safer doing these things with FSD on than if it is not. Sorry to vent. Keep up the great videos. Definitely a new subscriber!
I absolutely love FSD on my model Y, I use it every day, however, in the morning I leave work at around 5:30 AM which it means that a lot of the lights that I go through are yellow blinking lights, and the FSD is absolutely atrocious going through those. It does not understand the fact that those are blinking lights and since that road has about 10 of them in a row, I don't see FSD a chance to improve and go through those without having to break and accelerate 100 times. Overall, everything else is absolutely fine.
Solid review, as always. Looking forward to better lane centering! What would really help HURRY mode on city streets is path planning beyond 0.8 miles ahead. Right now, here in WA, traffic can be backed up over a mile in a given lane. FSD sometimes tries to go around that, but its effectively cutting in line. Not only do people not appreciate this, but a lot of time it's at highway speeds so it tries to slow down from 70 to 0 and wait on the highway for an opening with its blinker on. Lane staging (and map data) are the current biggest issues that I'm seeing. Need to increase that path planning range or implement those "better rewards for navigation" or pay attention to live traffic data when deciding to overtake a mile-long backlog of cars. IMHO a smart thing to do would be to implement hierarchical path planning: long term, medium term, and short term (instantaneous) so the car can re-compute its immediate path very fast, and recalculate medium and long term paths less frequently when making passing and lane changing decisions.
@@BlackTesla Agree. Lots of people are making clickbait videos of FSD in the snow but they are pointless because it obviously has not been trained for snow. It will be eventually and I suspect it won’t be difficult. There will probably be a dedicated snow mode at some point.
