I love the "origin story" about how you became a teacher, Jason - and a *great* teacher, in my experience. Ah, and the Starry Plough in Berkeley in the early 90s...I love the possibility that I may have crossed paths with you back then! I had a side gig teaching evening classes in international business at UC Berkeley Extension in those days, and I regularly dropped by the Starry Plough afterwards to unwind. Now, 30yrs later, we've each had a few more twists and turns in our lives, we both live far from the Bay Area, and I've enjoyed being a FiddleHed myself with your guidance. So much good stuff. Thank you, Jason!
Thanks for this episode Jason, your openness is engaging and the backstory fascinating. Something I notice when musicians reflect on those positive experiences with gratitude is that faces become relaxed and there's a happiness that can maybe only be understood by others who have shared a similar experience. Thanks to your Dad for pointing out that poster, and to you for finding a way to combine the structure of a classical background with the flexibility of folk tunes and a creative approach.
Wow, great story. You pulled me in cause I love that tune. Good stuff. I've been watching your channel for years, now I know a lot of backstory!
Nice! Thanks for hanging with us for the long haul. This is actually our 10th anniversary on UA-cam 🎉

Wow, I wonder if we were there at the same time? I started playing at the Plough around 1994, and went fairly regularly for 3-4 years.

Thanks Marg. It's been a good journey. I'm lucky to be doing FiddleHed. It allows me to do creative work as well as constantly learn new things...
Reckon you’d be a really fun teacher to have, Jason. Don’t think you’d shout at us 😁👍🌈🎻💕. Always enjoy your friendly videos. Thank you.
I promise not to hit you with a ruler if you play out of tune 🤪
