I made one and its even easier than making a normal one cuz to stick it together you just need to get a little water on your finger and rub it on where you wanna stick it. It was so much fun
I love how Vi Hart can turn anything into math! She make mundane math concepts seem super awesome! This video is great because it encourages math and playing with your food! It's crazy to me that she found math in a fruit roll up!
actually, most concepts she talks about in her videos are really cool and are interesting to learn about but the maths curriculums in most schools manage to make them seem mundane and ordinary. vi simply knows how to point out the most interesting aspects of these subjects.
No, they JUST LIKE MATH! It's not witchcraft! You all just can't get your diapers far enough below your eyes for you to see what's right in front of you!
I am utterly impressed, both by your complete brilliance and your ability to resist eating them the moment you opened them. I have no such self-control

Wow! This is incredible. When I get a fruit by the foot in my lunch, I just eat it like any other person would without a second thought. You are so cool because you actually use your mathematical brain even with an ordinary fruit by the foot! From this video I learned that these sugary strings can be made into Mobius Strips, Borromean rings, and cool freeze patterns that are the same whichever way you look at them. Borromean rings are cool because no two rings are actually looped with each other, but all three are still stuck together. So next time I get a fruit by the foot in my lunch, I am going to make all of the amazing configurations that you can do with them. Great video, and I hope there will be a lot more in the future!
It took me a few videos to figure it out, but this one was it. I think the reason these are so awesome is your ability to use cool science stuff in a creative way. Well played fruits by the feet, well played.
Ash Mills I read the book last year. It was for my states battle of the books competition. I didn't attended it, but most battle of the books, books are very good reads. So I read it. It was wonderful! I couldn't agree more with your comment. Okay bye bye!
Violet Candy the start was atrocious, the wording was odd and the story didn't intrigue me at all. the end was a tiny bit better, still not something i'd read unless it was forced on me. 5/10 overall id give it
I simply couldn't resist making various Möbius strips as a kid with these (and then proceeding to cut down the middle to see what the various twists produced); so cool to see Vi doing the same ^.^
I just watched the Shakespeare Pi one and now I am hearing phantom sonnets in this video. I guess since English naturally flows with the cadence of a sonnet. I am in awe.
i have been watching your videos all afternoon and have realized that my whole day has gotten away from me and until this video i have completely forgotten about lunch! ( 4 hrs past) then got the sudden craving for a fruit by the foot :) i know what im getting at the store tonight for new snacks thanks VI!
"You might need to pause here to think what would happen" * pauses only to try and put together everything she just said because I have no clue what any of that means*
i'd probably just eat it before figuring any of that out XD also, this should be the way they teach math in school. you actually make it fun and interesting
Her videos are always full of information. She makes everything fun and makes people excited to learn about math. I don't understand how she comes up with her videos. She takes a math concept (Mobius strips), originally used for conveyor belts, and make is more understandable by using everyday objects. I hope that one day I understand math, as well as she does, and can put it with everyday things.
your videos are extremely satisfying go me because they help me calm down and focus. You are also funny and make me smile. having OCD Depression and ADHD, those are important. Thank you for helping me. 🤗
jennifer Polen yo can I ask you a thing? because I have ocd too and apparently it's a thing for us to try and multitask but fail, but I've always found that I have focus and it's much easier to do so and as much as I do drift off I don't find myself trying multiple activities at once, so I guess what I'm asking is, is it very common for people with ocd too try and take on too many tasks at once ?
I know what happens!! We did this at my house when my parents visited and I was studying for my prelims :D Beautifull. you can do even more with the cutting of mobius strips. You can get the boromean rings out of it and pentafoil knots. Also: People have made molecules like this! Yes, really 3 rung mobius ladders and trefoil, solomon and pentafoil knots. Also the borromean rings. So cool!! Thank you for the video!
Your videos always make me want the treats you're playing with. more so with the smarties one. I remember winning a huge bag of smarties as a very young child, and it took months for me to finish the whole thing.
Vi, you are officially my new idol! From now on, when I don't know what to do in a given situation, I shall ask myself: "What would Vi Hart do?". And THAT, my friend, is a big thing to say!
NYAAAAAAH!! I'm the exact opposite of you when it comes to math, but you're sparking my nerd appreciation and you just know everything. You make me feel intellectual, even though I'm baffled at how you love math so much, or, in fact, understand it so well. :D
So Vi Hart is here being like "Oh look at this candy, and it has a 99 degree angle on the corner, but if you zoom in it is infinite and 2 + 2 is 4 so that shows us that infinity= 4, right? No wrong! and blah blah blah". And I'm here like "Oh cool a candy *eats it*"
You probably get a lot of comments like this, but I like your videos. They are smart, funny and I feal like I learn some interesting stuff watching them. I just used one of your videos to solve a math conflict that some people on facebook had. Thanks.
Math always was...Math always will be...Math has no beginning...Math has no end. Multiverse not Universe. Pilate...Pi story....Pilot...Pi a lot...anagrams, cryptanalysis, code, secret writing, cipher, rebus, palindrome, acrostic, crossword puzzle, scrabble...:-)
I never even thought of the splitting a Mobius strip thing before, that is so cool that the edges (or really single edge) will separate like that. Makes sense now, but you never think of properties like that off of nothing.
Since the larger loop is made from the outer edge of the mobius strip, which goes around it twice, and the smaller loop is made from the inner area of the mobius strip (and is thus the same length as the original strip) the larger loop should be about twice as long as the smaller loop (adjusting for stretchiness).
I'm GLAD that she didn't eat them. It's all about organic 100% fruit straps from now on in my world. Btw, Vi, thanks again for filling my heart with joy and wonder. Your videos make me happy in a way that I thought only MUSIC could.
I just had an epiphany about the Mobius ring when you cut off the edge. Then, in all my semi-nerdy excitement, I found paper, pen and scissors to try and explain to my younger brother. He really didn't care, but I was very proud of my mobius ring XD.
I just made a mobius strip out of fruit by the foot, my hands didn't get any stickier than they would have from eating a friut by the foot, but it did take some saliva to get it to stick together.
You should have tried to make a hexaflexagon

I only eat something if it's mathematically correct.
So your parents could convince you not to have ice cream before dinner by writing 2+2=5 on the container?
hAHAHAHAHAH DAMN
So, you don't eat pie?
All they'd have to do in that case was work out the volume of the container and scratch out the false sum.

you remind me of Willow Chance from the book Counting By 7s. She's very smart, like you, and is always finding math or whatever out of common things.

Fruit by the feet make math less boring
My goodness, you are amazing. You know so much and inspire me to do so much with math, and I love math all the more because of it...
i wish you were my math teacher
How have I not heard of you before? You make math and music flow so harmoniously, while making math by itself so...candy flavored xd
"Fruits by the Foot" seems to make the most sense
"You might need to pause here to think what would happen"
* pauses only to try and put together everything she just said because I have no clue what any of that means*
i'd probably just eat it before figuring any of that out XD
also, this should be the way they teach math in school. you actually make it fun and interesting
IT would make me too hungry
not a good idea think about it everyone would eat it before they learn anything
I'd long forgotten how much I love geometry. Thank you
I always make flexabythefootagons

She actually makes math fun. I did not know that was even possible
Why are you so cool?
My mouth was watering this whole video. These are my favorite
You're making me hungry!!
Your videos always make me want the treats you're playing with.
more so with the smarties one. I remember winning a huge bag of smarties as a very young child, and it took months for me to finish the whole thing.

Borromean rings made out of mobius strips? Then cut the mobius stips into 1/2s?
Smosh brought me here. You are seriously amazing! You have a new subscriber!
It fruit loops
WOW! Thanks for showing the edge of the 3-way divided Mobius strip - makes sense now :)
Have you ever thought of doing ASMR videos?
I would love to watch that! Your voice is already relaxing (not to be creepy haha)
check her "flex mex" video if you havent already, the way she speaks in that is pretty ASMR-ey

What about fruits by some feet?
I don't feel like typing a comment. I have nothing to offer that compares. Thank you for these wonderful videos.

Michael Pearson OH MY FUGING GOD YOURE A GENESIS
I never even thought of the splitting a Mobius strip thing before, that is so cool that the edges (or really single edge) will separate like that. Makes sense now, but you never think of properties like that off of nothing.
im not sure what blew my mind more, the math fun or that fruit by the foot has designs stamped into it.
Since the larger loop is made from the outer edge of the mobius strip, which goes around it twice, and the smaller loop is made from the inner area of the mobius strip (and is thus the same length as the original strip) the larger loop should be about twice as long as the smaller loop (adjusting for stretchiness).
you are inspiring vihart, thank you
I love your videos! I wish that you still made videos! It's been 6 years! Please come back!
I'm GLAD that she didn't eat them. It's all about organic 100% fruit straps from now on in my world. Btw, Vi, thanks again for filling my heart with joy and wonder. Your videos make me happy in a way that I thought only MUSIC could.
I literally love you for this omg
You make math fun, yo
THAT IS A USEFUL SKILL.
Everything has mathematical potential when Vihart uses it :D
I usually watch this channel when i get home so im still in the math mood (at my school math is the last class) this is tasty math
I just had an epiphany about the Mobius ring when you cut off the edge. Then, in all my semi-nerdy excitement, I found paper, pen and scissors to try and explain to my younger brother. He really didn't care, but I was very proud of my mobius ring XD.

OW!!!! MY BRAINNNNN!!!!! I love these videos... Maths has never been so interesting
I admire her for being so creative. all geniuses say they can look at something random and connect it to academics. she is a true genius.
A great example of thinking outside of the box. It's where we can discover new and exciting paths to our future.
i just basically re-enacted this video to my roommate. vi hart is amazing & i love her! :]
Vihart. I love you.
i love how i watch your videos until the end even tho i don’t understand a single thing

OMG I REMEMBER WATCHING THIS. I can never eat fruit by the foot the same.
“I figured they had mathematical potential.” Only Vihart.
That's actually pretty sick!
I just made a mobius strip out of fruit by the foot, my hands didn't get any stickier than they would have from eating a friut by the foot, but it did take some saliva to get it to stick together.
