Welding galvanized metal is a fast way to experience metal fever. It is not a joke. I first experienced it welding on conduit in an overhead crane cab. After that experience, I always ground the area to be welded.
The old school dudes tell me to drink milk before a full day of welding galvanized. I’m not sure if it works but I’ve never gotten galv poisoning myself and I’ve had my head all up in the smoke at times. Been working with guys who have gotten it and it’s 100% not a joke.
Milk doesn't do shit. Old wives tale. Simply _strip the galv before welding!_ Muriatic Acid dissolves the zinc a treat. So will white vinegar (though you want the stronger crap - 20+% - or you'll be there all night. 1. Cut pipe/conduit/strut to length. 2. Soak portions of pipe to be joined in a PLASTIC OR GLASS container with acid of choice (don't go breathing THESE fumes either, goes without saying). 3. Wait until the fizzing dies down (couple minutes). 4. Pour acid into disposal container. 5. Dunk part formerly bathed in acid into solution of baking soda and water (this neutralizes any remaining acid). 6. Weld. And soon. This strips the part down to BASE STEEL, and it'll start rusting if you wait too long (>30 min or so) You'll get a MUCH better join (no slagged zinc in the joint), no heavy metal burn off, and, every time you're successful (rumor has it, anyway) a shop teacher gets his wings. Dunno about that last one there, but worth a shot. Self-flagellate with safety bleating: goggles, gloves, respirator, blah blah blah. It's acid. You go breathing it, blinking it, or bathing in it, we can prolly do without you in the gene pool.
Start in the bend move quickly to the end of the thin metal. If youre not fast enough clean slag after every tack. If youre fast enough the slag will stay floating to the top. Now if youre not sure it will hold atleast you have more material on the steel that you can go over with a better more solid pass. Otherwise good for this thickness of steel using stick
Is this a CWB weld? The welds look nice but would not pass an xray or any other kind of test. You should disclaim in your videos that these techniques should not be used for any structural purposes.

1 mm rod is not available in some countries. Here in the Philippines usually use 2mm to 2.5 mm because that's the only available in local hardware. We can't fully weld a thin metal with this but we can do a spot welding just for gates and fences. For structures like stairs of course we use thicker metals so that we can fully weld it

Can you explain this to me? How would a "non-fake welder" weld something that thin with smaw without burning through it on something that's not critical? Sure grinding off the zinc would be good to do. Be he's outside, throw a fan on it and you'll be fine.
@@-mejor-que-nostradamus-6152 that's too bad, we have some issues regarding a certain galvanized metal as well but usually taken care by simply grinding the material surface a bit before welding. More specifically we are commonly use the AWS A5.1 6013 rod with High Titania covering. Hopefully the data could become handy if you should find other electrode brand.

i agree everytime you made the tapping welding there's many chances you're just covering the slag that will turn into a weld defects it's on the book already, covering a slag without removing it with chippikng hammer will turn into a welding defect

poor welding rod with a bad flux coating ,sometimes it needed to be preheat but the poor welder doesn't have the machine

Блин! Я тонкий метал полуавтоматом прожигаю даже на минимум 0,8 проволокой. А дуговой 2 мм норм получается , вот прикол
просто маленький опыт сварки.
ваш павтомат выдает выше 20 амперов в реале, потому и прожиг. В идеале 10-20ампр максимум для кузовщины
