I hate to contradict, but my observations of people imply the vast majority of people already don't have a problem with trans people [and haven't as far memory serves for the last few decades], and even most of the people who do, don't tend to say 'they're not valid/don't exist/etc etc.' that is unfortunate hyperbole drummed up to sound like there's a majority mistreating a minority, a statistic impossibility in a country where everyone is connected digitally and millions can be galvanized against any such action at the drop of a hat, when the majority more so ranges between weirded out ambivalence to just not actually being bothered by their existence and even welcoming, with obvious outliers between the 'violently disgusted' and 'obsessed with glorifying it' extremes. [for the sake of clarity, I can't say i'm bothered by any variation of Trans people. People are people to me, and the positives and negatives of individuals to me -depend on actions, not categories] Also the white-house isn't even acting like Covid's still killing people, now 'that' blows me away. It's a good thing that the same things that protect us from other viruses also reduce our risk of getting or spreading covid. Alas, once people get used to it's existence, they're going to get less driven to carry those measures out full-force as comparison's to other things that nobody panics about increase in number. I'm not raggin on ya here btw, just stating the facts as I know them. I couldn't care less about political alignments myself [though the less i have to hear about politics the better... if everyone would just take care of their lives and those in their reach, we'd all be healthy and happy by default]
@@SergalDragon "though the less i have to hear about politics the better... if everyone would just take care of their lives and those in their reach, we'd all be healthy and happy by default" I'm going to strongly disagree with this. People not talking about politics and only dealing with what's in their own world is, functionally, a conservative position. Quite literally, in the sense of "conservation", specifically conservation of the status quo. You can't expect the world to change if you don't look at, analyse, and confront the status quo. The status quo is exactly as political as any call to change it, but people don't perceive it that way because, by definition, the status quo is what has been normalised in a society. As for you points about trans people, and the general publics perception of them, well you call those points "facts" when... they aren't really are they? They're your anecdotal opinions. Now, I think you're wrong, but I don't plan on going to find data to back it up. So: Assuming you're correct that most people are basically okay with trans people and some are just "weirded out" well frankly, those people still need to be told to get the fuck over themselves. It's not okay to be "weirded out" over just a group of people who are doing nothing wrong. And again, that reaction is the cause of cisnormativity being part of the status quo (that is, the idea that being cis is the default, and anything else is weird). So again, people need to talk about this stuff in order to change people's perceptions.
@@mylittledashie7419 I think you misunderstood what i meant by that statement, and somehow got an entirely illogical message out of it... People who don't take care of themselves, and the people in their reach, 'are' doomed to be unhealthy human beings. I'm not talking about some interpretation of status quo, I'm talking about health, well-being, positive relationships, understanding... interpreting 'take care of yourself and those in your reach' as 'conservatives preserving the status quo' makes it sound like the opposite is valuing complete strangers over your flesh and blood, the people you grew up with, the family that brought you life. In point of fact, I would argue that is half-way to communist in style, 'care for your community', which logically 'yourself' is included in. Now, that misinterpretation aside: It 'is' okay to be wierded out by the 'unusual'. Now, trying to make the unusual 'usual' is perfectly fine, it takes time, but eventually it would become 'weird' to be weirded out... Talking to anyone who 'is' weirded out like they're threatening your well-being by not getting it, upgrads it from weirded out to threatened. I learned something about this sort of interaction in culinary college actually [not 'specifically' trans interaction, but interpersonal interactions in general] This reaction creates an 'adversarial' relationship, leading to adversarial reactions in turn. And i think you're mixing up your cause and effect there. 'cisnormativity' a word which had to be invented to avoid just saying 'normal', could not be caused 'by' people who are weirded out, rather the weirded out is caused by 'cis' 'being' the norm for Millenia of recorded history. Things absolutely change, this is undeniably, and perhaps new things have become, or are becoming, a norm, and thus these weirded out reactions will one day fade... but historically speaking it is undeniably fact that what you refer to as 'cis' has been the 'norm' for generations, and it will take ages, and 'cooperation' to change that norm across civilization. If i'm being honest, aggressive reactions when faced with someone who doesn't understand or has no experience with what you consider 'should' be normal, high-lights for these people that it is 'not' normal, and is more likely to make them feel threatened, instead of cooperative. Let me try to sum it up... Talking about things that really should be considered normal, is great! Discourse is a necessity of healthy societal change, as much as the antithesis of a healthy society is the prevention or restriction of discourse, and in my honest opinion I think the progression of civilization is going to follow a constant increase in biological customizability, to such a degree that gender, or even species, will eventually be whatever you want to become, or feel that you 'should' be. Accusing someone of denying your existence and threatening your well being when they have done nothing other than 'not know', or perhaps reacted in ignorance to something that is 'from their experience' not the norm, discourages this improvement. [note, this does not include the people who actually do react viscerally to an encounter with trans people, I just believe that pre-aggression like this will create 'more' of those people]
@@SergalDragon of course there was gonna be one lol anyway, i don't know if you've noticed but there's kind of been a huge uptick in the prominence of transphobia in the last couple of years? Trans people have been through a lot of shit, and they know an awful lot more about the shit they have to go through than you do, because they have to live it. Please don't blame them for being a little cranky when you're the fourth well-meaning but uninformed pedantic rando that week they have to explain their entire existence to. @@SergalDragon Jesus, okay, I'm not going to entirely blame you for this, because my own message was a bit slap dash, which I'm sure didn't help, but I can't follow the thread of almost anything in your comment. So I'm just gonna drop most of it, and just reply to one of the things that really stuck in my craw. "cisnormativity' a word which had to be invented to avoid just saying 'normal'" This is totally untrue, because, in several ways, these words do not mean the same thing. Firstly, even the word "normal" has multiple interpretations. You could mean it in a statistical sense, as in more than 50% of a group share a particular characteristic. You could mean it with a value judgement attached, as in "normal=good, not normal=bad", and you could mean it in the way that cisnormativity uses it, which is that it's an idea which has been "normalised", something that people are used to. Secondly though, "normal" could refer to a million different things, where as "cisnormativity" can only refer to one single thing. It wasn't invented just so people didn't say "normal" it was invented because it's a clear and specific word which can be used in academic discussions of societies. Where "normal" is totally fucking vague, and comes packaged with potential value judgements, something you very much want to avoid in an intellectually honest discussion.
This is absolutely hilarious 🤣 Seeing as this is about the internet I was gonna say "needs about 20% more p**n" but it was actually sufficiently covered, heh
Pony Bo wasn't what I was expecting to see today, but here we are. Welcome to the internet, and all that. Very fluid, very pog. 10/10, would recommend.
I love that in the context of Sunjackers, Candy used a 50 year old news article to illustrate the "obama sent your immigrants to vaccinate your kids" line
This animatic is so hilarious and awesome i love it! i especially love how the animatic itself provides a pretty accurate visual aid of everything described and depicted in the song, anyway this animatic is an absolute gem and i really enjoyed it simply stupendous work!!!

I thought "in groomer" was a place.
Then I googled it and saw the real lyrics\
Ah yes... Classic groomers
This is absolutely hilarious 🤣
Seeing as this is about the internet I was gonna say "needs about 20% more p**n" but it was actually sufficiently covered, heh

This is so much funnier with the context of Sunjackers.
