Love it
This was a great Micro Episode! Thank you both for sharing your insights into this! :)
Another great micro-episode with a wealth of gems to write down and remember. Rather than being not entirely pertinent, Dauphin Sensei’s citing lessons learned from a “failed” marriage was spot-on - my experience was similar and very definitely resulted in a far better marriage and life than likely would have been the case otherwise.
When I was most deeply involved in karate, I was the smallest black-belt in the dojo. All of the other black-belts outweighed me by 40- to 75-pounds or more, and in every case, it was solid muscle. So, in our sessions of contact-sparring I would get the crap kicked out of me every time. Which would have been debilitatingly frustrating, had it not been for one thing: In every match, if I landed even just one solid blow, I would count that a victory. Maybe a very small victory in the context of the entire match, but was enough to enable me to line up across from one of those guys the next time.
