No. she isn't. We have court room artists out here on the West Coast whose drawings are practically photographic. Clear, exact, actually look like the subjects.

Sending the emails to the FBI should be standard practice. Even if someone doesn't go after her, the next artist might not be so lucky. Law enforcement should be informed.
I think she nails him. He scowls and he looks imperious with his chin tilted up and the corners of his mouth pulled down. She captures exactly how he looks.

@@stutzbearcat5624 if you put those 10 artists you know under the same conditions, they will likely struggle as well.
As a court artist, you have a limited time to draw and often have terrible view points that are far away from the subject. And most annoyingly, none of your subjects stay still! It's hard when you've already started drawing them in a position and they move. So you have to remember and/or use your imagination or start again.
How does she deal the urge to puke? Brave Lady!
As I was watching this, I realize I need to get a life. Watching this type of minutiae is not a good use of time. I long for the day I can ignore politics again because democracy is safe.
I’ve limited my own consumption of political content to a couple hours each day lately. And that’s mostly podcasts.

Interesting. I've been regretting that I paid so little attention to politics, thinking that democracy will take care of itself. Maybe if I'd taken my civic responsibility more serious, watched closer, gotten involved, some of the vile trends that have come to fruition over the last 8 years could have been prevented.
@@xelamercedesBoth can be true. "this type of minutiae" is a bit overboard, and not a great use of time. We all definitely need to stay informed, watch closer, and take our civic responsibilities seriously. Democracy is hard, but so worth it.

“That’s not mine,” she said as they showed another artist’s work. 🤦🏻♀️ I don’t think anyone in the news room even noticed. As an artist myself i thought it looked different.
Yeah, that artist rendered in blended pastels, which takes more time, and lends a calmness to the scene.
Whereas, Ms Rosenberg's drawings are sketchy, which depicts a more appropriate anxiety.
The jury was visible, also. There’s no way a picture of the jury - even just lightly sketched - would be allowed in this case.
Yeah, that one image with all the soft pastel colors was by another courtroom artist, Christine Cornell. Her style is totally different from Jane's. CNN made the same mistake but in reverse. CNN showed Jane Rosenberg's sketches during an interview with Christine.

She is doing a great job considering the conditions and pressure, however, we REALLY NEED cameras to capture everything.

I think her sketches are iconic. She does a great job with expressions and really captures the mood in the courtroom. I highly doubt any of her critics could do better, especially considering the circumstances. Please stay safe 🙌🏾💛

Jane Rosenberg is the best courtroom artist. I love her work. It looks like real art and journalistic at the same time.
The court artist job must be intense to capture moments in a trial with very little time and supplies. BTW. I can't believe this trial is not filmed for everyone to see....
It would be a nightmare for the DNC.
Unfortunately due to New York law cameras and audio recording equipment aren’t allowed in the courtrooms even on such high profile cases like this one

Just FYI, closing your eyes (and maybe even falling asleep) is classic avoidance behavior. When what you are siting through pains you psychologically, this is how you escape (if you are prevented from physically leaving the room).

This is the first time I've ever seen a federal court illustrator harassed. There are very few cases I can count where this has happened in prior years.

Donald Trump is often closing his eyes as an attempt to escape accountability. I'm sure he also falls asleep plenty, as has been noted by many astute journalists, but I also believe w/some of it, the Stormy Daniels testimony for instance, it's just a way of closing out the reality of what's happening in the case. He's a fragile man w/a fragile ego.

She should always report odd or threatening communication she receives. She should never fear for her safety. Imagine if something should happen and she never reported those inappropriate messages.

It might help if she wore her glasses... she apparently 'sees' the courtroom in a messy blur.
In another interview, she says that shes so far away from the front of the court room that she sometimes needs to use binoculars.

She captures emotion and moments in time. Her likenesses are very good. She captures the gist of those she draws.
Her biggest challenge is that the people that make the colored pencils, dont make that shade of orange.

Some sources say the sketch artists use pastels, not colored pencils. Pastels, when skillfully used, can put down lots of color and line very quickly - which is vital when trying to capture fleeting moments. Colored pencils are fine for more detailed work, but much slower.

Her charcoal and chalk sketches are "gestive" excellent, as to capture personae contours, mood, energy levels and emotion, and the overall courtroom scene. Nuanced expressive realism.
I think the artist is both skilled and extremely generous with her renderings of the beast in question.

I saw a Business Insider video about a company that makes pastels for fine artists --- they're known for having over 2000 colors and always making more when their clients need something special. Henri Roché.

I like Ms Rosenberg’s sketches, they do depict a feeling from the courtroom.
I'm not particularly interested in Trump or the complexities of US politics. However, I'm captivated by these illustrations; the ability to tell a story on a single page is truly an art form.

I like that her work is an interoperation of the event that tries not just to be a literal hand drawn version of a photograph but she's trying to convey the emotions at play. That is a work of art, not just an illustration. Hope she stays safe.

I agree with the sketch artist's friend who said she should report the threats to the FBI. I am concerned for her safety.
And these drawings are going to be in the history books for a very very long time. Hundreds or perhaps thousands of years.
