My latest game of this has been interesting. Freaking Tuvalu somehow making it to the top 19 countries of the Island inclusive huge map and not just that - taking out australia and new zealand to be a top 10 world power.
They did real good. Made it to 8th before unifying into Japan.

We were our own dominion but not technically not fully independent until the 1980s (lack of official documents making it so maybe?) but no one cared and we were considered independent in WWII.

Officially, Vichy France was still at war with Germany. The armistice was just a ceasefire, not a peace treaty.
Also Vichy France was not fascist.
Marshal Pétain was a military dictator.
While Vichy France did have a Fascist Party, they were not in power, Pétain was not a member, and indeed, the French fascist did not like their dictator very much.
