Lou, you really outdid yourself this time, that was pretty cool.
I would have never seen anything like that, if it wasn't for your channel. Thank you.
Thank you bill thompson for the wonderful comment :-) You're welcome, Lou
Bill Thompson you're right! I support your saying! Thank you!
Hi Lou! It's a sweet little bug! Oh yeah! Thank you Lou!
HI Bad Russian, Glad you like this little one :-) You're welcome, Lou
I'm not an expert, but a friend of mine had a later model, from 1959-60,...he got it from a local golf course, where it was used as a greens keeper's truck, in the 1990s. It was in excellent shape. His had an open cargo bed enclosure. No side doors, but heavy weight, sliding, (clear) vinyl side curtains. The single head light was on the front of the cabin, not on the fender. The front fender was rounded, as was the cabin, in that classic 50s style. I have seen both Vespa/Piaggio/Ape & Lambretta based, 3 wheeled, 150cc trucks, at local scooter shows. Here in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Inspector Jacques Clouseau approves...as long as the brakes have not been tampered with. That's a very fun vehicle; thanks for sharing!
Hi melodicdreamer72, That's funny :-) Thank you for viewing, and you're welcome, Lou
In early 2000's in Columbus, Ohio,....the APE branded micro-truck, opened a dealership near my house. Local home grown businesses were interested in them. One was a gourmet ice cream maker, another bought one for a mobile catering & party planner. I have seen a couple others around town, too. Their body style reflected a more modern style, more angular and not retro. Presently in 2022, food trucks are all the rage, I suspect the APE trucks will find more new buyers & leasers.
Hi Davett53, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

Never saw anything like this before, super different. Very funky cool toy! Looks like it'd be a blast to tool around in. The little front wheel with the light's pretty neat looking. Love the look of the handle bars rather than a wheel; kinda like a cycle. Really fun looking combination of truck and trike to me, I like it! Fun vid, thank you!
Hi WickedFireFly13, You can see when I saw this one in the garage I said "WHATTTT?!?" Glad you enjoyed this little different ride then the cars :-) You're welcome, Lou
Obviously no space for a wheel but it's also good because it doesn't give you the impression that you steer it like a normal car. Because there is no gearing on the steering column you would immediately crash it. It is indeed more like steering a bike but also not the same as it's three wheels so your body position doesn't impact it as much.
I have one Piaggio ape, very newer generation than this, its called Piaggio ape auto d3s. I love it. ❤️

Absolutely delightful ! Living in Europe and a frequent traveller to Italy, I’m very familiar with these vehicles. I must beg to differ with the owner’s claim that a dump bed was never produced. I know this from experience because I drove one on a regular basis as part of a summer job during my time at university. Most of the driving was on a private estate and my attempts to take a particular corner ever-faster ultimately resulted - as it must - in the Piaggio rolling over. I spent the next day restoring the cab roof to its original shape. We need to see more of Mr. Maranto and his Italian cars !
Hi Andrew Graham, Ahhhh the exciting "roll over" story is always exciting to read what the result is :-) Regarding more from the collection...stay tuned :-) Lou
Hi Andrew, Chuck replied / added "To reply to the gentleman about the dump bed. Yes, they eventually made the dump, but some years after the original introduction. Just to clarify " Lou
Love it

Piaggio went from building a 4-engined heavy bomber in WW2 to this in 1946. How the mighty have fallen!

Why is there an Abarth badge?
Very observant. There was a paint scratch so Chuck covered it with the badge, but why an Abarth badge???? Stay tuned and you'll see why one might have been lying around :-)
Hello Sir you have a very nice Ape, but a lot Things you tell in the Video are not true. First off all you have not VIn N 1, when you look on your vin it tells AC1T 3477, so it was the 2477 number produced of that Modell Ac1 in 1956 not 1946. There have been also APe before but not with the cabin Roof. That was new on that type. The Piaggio Museum is still there in Pontedera where These Little Things have been build. You also have some parts on it which are not original, specialy Rubbers for the handle bars and the starter lever
