German ground teams and US air teams have some sort of built-in problem when it comes to competence. It's incredible how abysmal both are. Though it's worth a mention that when you get a competent team on either of the ones mentioned above, it's a brutal steamroll...
I love how this plane depends on dicipline and technique, you cant win any fight by just turning like in a spit, but if you know what youre doing youre almost untouchable, and a good team or duo of 109s can just destroy entire teams
Honestly speaking, a Spit can't win any fight by "just turning" if its enemy has half of a working braincell. The Spit will just drain himself of any remaining energy and end up a sitting duck.

For me yaks, are the only plane that give me a hard time, they never lose energy and they can dodge my attacks pretty handily, + they outurn me. Dogfight with yaks usually take way to long, and i still haven't found a sure fire way to kill them fast, if you dont manage to bounce them
As a player who has almost every nation past 5.0 on air. You should give the Italian tech tree a shot. The C.202 and the C.205 are a great in between of a 109 and a Zero. Have fun fellow pilot.
Playing Allied planes is painful because you'll be like 1 of 2 two planes actually climbing while everyone else is on the deck. Blows my mind how people just choose not to climb.
Just be careful fighting Yaks: if it is a Yak 9t, then you can outspeed him. If he's in a Yak 3 or Yak 9U, they are faster than you below 4k, retain energy better, are more maneuverable and are probably more complete planes
The 109 F-1 is underrated. Imagine a K-4, but there's no griffin spits or Bearcats to ruin your game. You do fight the P-51C, buuuut 9/10 pilots don't understand how good that thing can be

as a G-6 main. i would say that G-6 is the fastest fighter when taking off in 4.7 br. if you are using Manual Engine Control. (even faster than fw190s) you can get high faster and will be always the apex predator not a fighter anymore if you are doing BNZ constantly. I have played it 1100+ battles. and my Air frags/death still 3.1 with 65% winrate

I usually keep my convergence around 600m, depending on the layout of the guns. For this plane, if you take the 30mm, it replaces the 20mm in the nose, so convergence isn't a big deal since it's 1 gun mounted in the nose. However, for example, if you had wing mounted guns, it would be significantly more important to have a convergence you're comfortable with! Again, I usually like to keep mine around 600m, but it should be whatever you're most comfortable with. Gonna take some experimenting! Ty for the comment o7

It's only a great plane if your enemy doesn't play against it properly. P51, P47 can give this thing a run for its money at high altitudes, but since the games only last 25 minutes (usually much less), and the grindy nature of War Thunder... You don't see much side climbing these days. Most lower BR players are just trying to grind out the tech tree, and don't understand anything about the PvP.
Try flying close to them at hight speed, then pulling up and around their guns, making them think they have a shot right until they stall. (Just be careful, you need to be going very fast and you need to know the enemies energy state since you dont have the separation and they dont have to climb for you, + because your climbing, if they do have enough energy to prophang for you, you risk losing too much speed to dodge through climbing
i hate those shit plane. bad in everything except ennergy retention. just bullshit. totally boring gameplay where u need to care about not falling into sleep during the fight
I always bring the 30mm gun pods, I find it to fun to hit a b17 like 2 times just for it to implode lol.
The bomber explosions are soooo satisfying with the 30 😂
or the headons where you fire and pull off and 2 seconds later the enemy explodes

The g2 trop was my favourite plane for about 4 years. Had a VERY favourable matchmaker, slightly more tricky now.
