- This is the 8th video in our series on the Currie Cup, the world's oldest provincial rugby tournament. In these 5 years there was again a shift of power as Western Province won the title in 2000 and 2001 and the Blue Bulls started a period of dominance by winning the cherished trophy 3 times in row between 2002 and 2004. Good idea. Loved him as a player. One of my favourite memories is of him running over Jorrie Muller in the 2002 Currie Cup final. Just not sure if I have a lot of footage, but will have a look
@@RealRugby he was such a beast. A montage of Etienne Botha would be good too. Such a shame he passed away so early. I'll never forget the morning I read of his passing. I was terribly upset the rest of the day. He would have been an amazing springbok.

Im not a Bulls supporter but this team was an absolute marvel to watch. The final against the Lions was epic because you seldom see a player, who didnt even score a try, dominate a game like Dries did that day. He was an absolute machine.
Richard Bands was a monster..literally almost killed Richie McCaw...the medics had to make sure McCaw doesnt swallow his tongue...out cold
