thanks for sharing this. i've long been curious about this complex, which covers a few blocks in this vicinity, at the intersection of lemp and shenandoah aves on st louis' south side. and comprises several buildings of various vintages, dating from the 1890s (the original consumers brewing co building, ca1896) to about the 1950s, i would guess, including administrative buildings, in addition to the brewery itself. very nice shot of the griesedieck brothers brand crest at 06:13, set mosaic-like in the floor. if i recall correctly, griesedieck bros purchased the falstaff brand when lemp brewing co went out of business in 1920, and moved production to this location, while the lemp complex was purchased by the international shoe co (st louis other major industry, along with beer brewing). as i understand, the access to the caves beneath this complex has been bricked up for decades, and the caves themselves are largely flooded.
The place needs to be torn down. Who would pay for that I don't know. The place is a hazard for the surrounding community. Is any of the structure sound enough to be rehabilitated? My father and God father worked there for about 30 years. My dad showed me around. It was gleaming with white tiles, brass and copper. The smell of the hops cooking was so good. It's hard to see the place in shambles. The city needs to board the place up with metal panels so no one can get in.

i lived on maiden lane in the early 1950s just a few blocks from the falstaff brewery in north st. louis..
